“The truth of the gospel of Jesus,” Heikkinen writes, “is that I am nothing more than a wretch and so much more than a saint.” Have you ever wondered if God could really save you? Have you ever thought grace might not be enough? In Wretched Saints, Heikkinen reveals the rough and beautiful side of grace so clearly that readers face up to the scars of sin—and have a renewed, startling realization that God’s incredible gospel is true. Wretched Saints shows how grace is the ridiculously unwarranted posture of God that transforms sinners into saints, gives freedom to lavish grace on others, and stubbornly shapes us all to look like Jesus.

In my research, I acquired most of my aspirations through spiritual meditation, and I documented them. It can be concluded that a large percentage of the contents of this book is an accumulation of those documented meditations and inspirations from God, my sustainer. May goodness with blessings and mercies follow us all for the remaining days of our lives.
This play is presented as a 'clown show' in which most of the actors wear clown-style costumes, creating a kaleidoscope of impressions around the central character of Grace, representing all those people who are scorned in this world but who develop a resistance to such injustice. An intelligent and searching contemporary play of ideas, ideal for school groups and young people.

This book sets out to interpret Henri de Lubac's theology of creation from a christological perspective. The challenge of this research has been the absence of a systematic christology in the writings of de Lubac. Yet it is possible to posit a Lubacian christology by sifting through the author's work on a myriad of subjects. The point of entry is the patristic distinction between 'image' and 'likeness', whereby 'image' is understood as an inamissible seal which bestows the divine prerogatives of reason, freedom, immortality and dominion over nature. 'Likeness' is a potential given at creation and realised in the course of the economy of salvation. De Lubac describes it variously as divinisation, divine union, the supernatural dignity of the human being, and participation in the internal movement of the Trinity. The originality of this book consists in the gradual emergence of the role of Christ in the process whereby image becomes likeness. De Lubac records his intention to publish a book on Jesus Christ, an ambition he never realised. The present book does not just illustrate the omnipresence of Christ in the writings of de Lubac but dares to delineate what a Lubacian christology would look like.
First published in 1998. This volume is IX in the international library of sociology collection and focuses on social casework principles and practice. The text attempts to describe some of the main problems facing caseworkers as they both try to help their clients and to theorize about their methods and objectives to discern the knowledge they use and apply; and to appraise the significance of the social agencies in which they work.
Become Black with the oppressed Christ. Contemporary Black theology is complex and far-reaching. In this concise yet thorough volume, Noel Leo Erskine examines Black theology from every angle, seeking to answer the question, Why would Africa’s children turn to the God of their oppressors for liberation? Beginning with the Middle Passage, which brought millions of Africans into the Caribbean and United States, Erskine unpacks the background and distinctive ideas of Black theology. Erskine covers major thinkers and illumines various areas of inquiry: suffering and theodicy, sin and reconciliation, baptism and the sacraments, womanism and Christology, and others. What unites these strands is the goal of liberation—of a faith that delivers not theoretical orthodoxies but real change in the lives of those buckling under racist oppression. Black Theology and Black Faith is the perfect reading for students and scholars looking to recenter the voices of the marginalized in their theology. Readers will leave its pages with a faith more alive to God’s call to institute his kingdom on Earth.
Jesus said, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). He and the Father are one in their love, joy, and desire to bless. In Embracing God as Father, Daniel Bush and Noel Due show us what God has done, is doing, and does every day as he speaks his Word into our hearts. God searches for the lost and weary to save us, adopt us into his family through Christ, and make us sons and daughters of the one and only Father. This theologically rich and deeply personal book helps us see God as he truly is and see who we are as his sons and daughters.
A systemic problem plagues the local and global church: We habitually lose the gospel. In its place, we substitute personal prosperity, legalism, politics--and we end up paralyzing the mission of the church. Galatians contains Paul's passionate defense of the gospel. It shows us how to enjoy God's presence and everlasting peace, setting us free to love and be loved. In Live in Liberty, Daniel Bush and Noel Due help you apply the spiritual message of Galatians so that you may experience the liberating presence of God.
Behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak to her heart . . ." (Hos 2:14) Hope in the Wilderness urges you to consider that your wilderness experiences--places where you suffer deeply, places where you can't find or feel God anymore, places of transition and upending of the life you used to know--are the very places where God speaks to your heart. As Noel Forlini Burt invites you into her own season of wilderness wandering, she enfolds the story of biblical characters who also wandered in wilderness, gently beckoning you to open yourself to the heart of God in your own story. Not merely a book to read, Hope in the Wilderness beckons you to lament your losses honestly, to be allured by the God who loves you, and to discover hope in the midst of your own wilderness.
