Sarah Henderson is an abandoned young teen soon-to-be mom, she presumes. After being told by her own mother to run away from home and to never return, she hit the streets trying to find stability for herself at only the age of fifteen. She finds that life was never really about being the popular girl in school and not about dating and guys any longer. She is faced with a series of obstacles and life lessons from finding a home to dealing with relationships and problems more effectively. Sarah must come to grips with the fact that she is nearly an orphan, and she must learn to become self-sufficient enough to survive. When faced with some of the same barriers keeping her from love as was her mother, she must decide for herself what is the right thing for her to do.
This book reflects the following: • Prior to WWII, we were privileged to witness the last days of the horse-drawn ice wagons, the ragman, and even the musical Umbrella Fix-It Man. • All children in homes, churches, and schools were taught that their behavior was accountable to God, and it worked! • Domestic violence and abuse of women were tolerated, and the woman was always to blame. • Immigrants achieved progress and wealth by the sweat of their brow. • Family destruction by means of divorce was acceptable, and still is, as long as lawyers and judges made money! My prayer is that everyone who reads this book will realize the pain and suffering a corrupt legal system inflicts on families and that this book fall into the hands of a qualified person who can and will do something about it because divorces do not belong in the court system as a lawsuit.
Katherine Henderson is a woman who grew up from a rather poor background and went to school with peers she could not fit in with. After a past fail of two potential romances, she decides early in life that she is done pining for love. She settles down with a young man during her college years, but fate deals her a few twists, and he develops habits that she either can learn to accept and can never change or walk away from. Ingrained with the heavy belief that her children can and will not be without their father, this battle with self-esteem problems plus her and Lances two children together both wears her down and keeps her turning back every time no matter what. When she finds some other things she really doesnt like, and truth becomes more real than love ever was to her, what is she to do?

No child should have to be identified as “gifted” in order to benefit from a rich, challenging learning experience. In Every Child's Right, the authors tell an important story of possibility...the possibility for significant academic achievement and intellectual engagement of children and youth across race, ethnicity, and social class. They show us students learning together, sharing interests and aspirations, and accomplishing more than might seem possible. This is not an account of all our children developing academic talent. Instead, it is a blend of theory and very concrete educational practice with compelling visions of greater possibilities, more broadly distributed, for the academic education of American youth. Advocating for a different, inclusive view of academic talent, this valuable book: Broadens the concept of academic talent beyond conventional practices and provides examples from a long-standing program to illustrate this new concept. Describes practices that have been successful with elementary students as well as high school students preparing to enter college. Offers compelling portraits of real children delighting in intellectually demanding and engaging learning. Identifies what is required of society and schools to offer these opportunities to all children in all classrooms.
