The shopper marketing methodology is a powerful, complete approach for satisfying target consumer demand at the point of maximum influence, and thereby driving consumers to purchase. It gives companies a far deeper understanding how consumers behave as shoppers, and leverages this intelligence across the entire supply chain to benefit all stakeholders: companies, brands, consumers, retailers, and shoppers. Shopper marketing requires supply chain partners to smoothly integrate complex sets of marketing and sales tools, in order to engage shoppers, build brand equity, and persuade shoppers when they move into "shopping mode." Internally, it also demands deeper coordination of R and D, marketing innovation, operations, logistics, and distribution. It isn’t easy, but it offers remarkable, proven results that are virtually unachievable any other way. In Shopper Marketing, three of the field’s pioneering innovators and consultants bring together state-of-the-art insights, strategic approaches, and supply chain execution methods for successfully employing shopper marketing initiatives throughout your organization. Dan Flint, Chris Hoyt and Nancy Swift clearly explain what shopper marketing is, and why it is critical for marketers to master. They review each of its six objectives and eight foundational principles, demonstrating how to adapt and apply it in your environment, overcome obstacles, and systematically create value along your entire "path to purchase." Drawing on their unsurpassed consulting experience, they also assess emerging trends and their implications, helping you deepen customer loyalty, extend competitive advantage, and improve profitability for years to come.
This exciting book explores fashion not simply from an aesthetic point of view but also as a manifestation of social and cultural change. Focusing on fashion from 1850, noted fashion historians Daniel James Cole and Nancy Deihl consider the evolution of womenswear, menswear, and childrenswear, decade by decade. The book looks at the dissemination of style and the mechanisms of change, at the relationship between fashion and the visual, applied, and performing arts, the intertwined relationship between fashion and popular culture, the impact of new materials and technology, and the growing globalization of style. With photographs of costume from museums and images from the fashion press including editorial photography, illustrations, and advertising, the book will include insights into icons of fashion and the clothes worn by “real people”, providing a valuable visual reference for the reader.
Placing the era firmly within the American experience, this reference illuminates what daily life was really like in the 1950s, including for people from the "Other America"—those outside the prosperous, white middle class. 'Daily Life in 1950s America shows that the era was anything but uneventful. Apart from revolutionary changes during the decade itself, it was in the 1950s that the seeds took root for the social turmoil of the 1960s and the technological world of today. The book's interdisciplinary format looks at the domestic, economic, intellectual, material, political, recreational, and religious life of average Americans. Readers can look at sections separately according to their interests or classroom assignment, or can read them as an ongoing narrative. By entering the homes of average Americans, far from the corridors of power, we can make sense of the 1950s and see how the headlines of the era translated into their daily lives. This readable and informative book is ideal for anyone interested in this formative decade in American life. Well-researched factual material is presented in an engaging way, along with lively sidebars to humanize each section. It is unique in blending the history, popular culture, and sociology of American daily life, including those of Americans who were not white, middle class, and prosperous.

My Nana was an Outrageously Mischievous kid. In the 1940s and '50s, children were allowed to run free, play outside, and use their imaginations-without parents constantly hovering over them and fearing for their safety. In her own small town in North Carolina-with very little traffic, and neighbors who actually knew each other-Nana was no exception to the free-range kid phenomenon. But as an outrageously mischievous child that was left to her own devices, she sure got into some amazing and hilarious adventures. It was a glorious time to be a child! Both of Nana's parents worked, so she and her brother were often unsupervised. They wreaked havoc most of the time, thus living an exciting childhood. Nana's stories-told to her great-grandchildren-are all true. She relates how her family and neighbors survived in spite of her and is quick to let her great-grandchildren know what not to do. As she says, if she had lived as a child today, she'd probably be locked up in a juvenile home!
