Needle felting is simple to learn and has become extremely popular with a variety of crafters, from quilters to dollmakers. It requires minimal supplies, can be done almost anywhere, and--with only a bit of practice--yields beautiful, professional results. In addition to all the information on tools and materials and making felt fabric, this superb volume by three top artists offers an array of fabulous and easy to master techniques: stenciling designs, free form felting, jewelry making, and creating embellishments such as flowers and leaves. The gorgeous and varied selection of projects range from a modern art clutch to several felted hats, and include a comfy fleece throw, dragonfly dimension pillow, colorful strands cardigan, and tropical bird pin.
Wet felting requires no knowledge of knitting or crocheting and gives the crafter/designer complete freedom and control from the beginning. Hand-painted and solid-color roving--wool that has not been spun into yarn--is arranged on a surface and subjected to hot water and agitation to create felt fabric. With Nancy's freeform methods, wool yarns, novelty yarns, bits of felt (called prefelt), and other fibers are worked into the felt to create highly textured and patterned fabrics--felt inlays--and each individual piece is unique. Including 20 projects to show what you can make with your felt inlays.--From publisher description.

It's not just another felt book. Besides teaching this unique wet felt inlay technique, it includes 20 projects. Felting has always captivated the yarn and fiber craft audience. Whether you know how to knit/crochet or not, you can do this kind of felting. Wet felting gives the crafter/designer complete freedom and control from the beginning. Hand-painted and solid-color roving-wool that has not been spun into yarn-is arranged on a surface and subjected to hot water and agitation to create felt fabric. With Nancy's freeform methods, wool yarns, novelty yarns, bits of felt (called prefelt), and other fibers are worked into the felt to create highly textured and patterned fabrics-felt inlays. Each felt inlay (individual piece of hand-made fabric) is unique and creative. But what's really great about this book is that Nancy takes it one giant step ahead by including 20 projects to show what you can make with your felt inlays.

My Nana was an Outrageously Mischievous kid. In the 1940s and '50s, children were allowed to run free, play outside, and use their imaginations-without parents constantly hovering over them and fearing for their safety. In her own small town in North Carolina-with very little traffic, and neighbors who actually knew each other-Nana was no exception to the free-range kid phenomenon. But as an outrageously mischievous child that was left to her own devices, she sure got into some amazing and hilarious adventures. It was a glorious time to be a child! Both of Nana's parents worked, so she and her brother were often unsupervised. They wreaked havoc most of the time, thus living an exciting childhood. Nana's stories-told to her great-grandchildren-are all true. She relates how her family and neighbors survived in spite of her and is quick to let her great-grandchildren know what not to do. As she says, if she had lived as a child today, she'd probably be locked up in a juvenile home!
Nancy Reagan describes her life from her happy childhood to her exciting stage and film career to her experiences as the wife of a famous actor, governor, and presidential candidate and expresses hopeful views on America's future.
An illustrated novel of the real world created by the acclaimed painter Nancy Chunn. Every day of 1966 Chunn claimed as an artistic canvas the front page of the N.Y. Times. Using rubber stamps and pastels to enhance, eradicate, and alter images and text, she created a commentary -- colorful, intense, visually explosive -- on the year's events and the power of the press. Chunn's treatment of the events we all lived through -- the Presidential campaign, the crash of TWA Flight 800, the wars in Chechnya and Rwanda -- will strike an immediate chord in readers tuned in to the political world awash in images and news. Gary Indiana's interview with the artist provides intimate insights into the artistic process as a means of talking back to power and engaging with the world.
