Offering a rarely seen glimpse into the realities of one of the biggest global public health crises in modern time, Wang’s book focuses on doctor–patient interactions in China to demonstrate the potential effects of health communication, doctor–patient relationship, and a matrix of social factors on overprescription of antibiotics. Based on a community-based survey, the book describes empirical findings regarding the high prevalence of non-prescribed antibiotics use for common colds among children in China. It covers the potential effects of overprescription on caregivers' attitudes and how physicians make prescribing decisions in medical consultations. Drawing from evidence in medical interaction data, readers are introduced to further empirical findings regarding the communicative behaviors that patient caregivers use to pressure for antibiotic prescriptions in real medical consultations. Following this, Wang reports findings regarding the communicative behaviors that physicians use to make treatment recommendations and caregivers use to launch treatment negotiations, leading to a discussion of the effect of the doctor–patient relationship on antibiotic overprescription. The book culminates in practice recommendations and provides teaching scenarios in which physicians successfully engage the caregivers into conversations to shape their expectations for antibiotic prescriptions in medical consultations. An important resource for scholars and students in health communication, linguistics, medical humanities, and medical sociology. Practitioners who are interested in understanding and improving clinical practices as well as policymakers aiming to combat antibiotic resistance will also find this book useful.
This is the first book to focus on respiratory health and diseases in Asia, where 60% of the world’s population reside. It is well known that disease patterns and health care delivery vary in different parts of the world. With divergent socioeconomic background, genetic makeup and environmental factors, health care issues take on a unique perspective in Asia. In this volume, respiratory health and diseases are presented and discussed with relevance to their unique epidemiology and management in Asia. The chapters are contributed by professional leaders who are highly respected for their clinical expertise in respiratory medicine in different parts of Asia. Many of them are internationally renowned for their academic excellence. Their collective extensive experience offers a wealth of knowledge that is invaluable to readers not only in Asia but also to other parts of the world. The high mobility of populations exposes clinicians to people from all over the world in their daily clinical practice. This informative book is a useful reference equally for medical students, clinicians in training and respiratory specialists. The editors of this volume are Professors Mary Ip, Moira Chan-Yeung and Wah Kit Lam of the University of Hong Kong, and Professor Nan Shan Zhong, Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease.
Driven by the ever-increasing amount of mobile data, cellular networks evolve from small cell network to ultra-dense heterogeneous networks, to provide high system capacity and spectrum efficiency. By bringing base stations (BSs) to the approximate spatial scale and number magnitude, ultra-dense heterogeneous networks would definitely bring unprecedented paradigm changes to the network design. Firstly, along with densification of small cells, inter-cell interference becomes severe and may deteriorate performance of mobile users. Assigning network resources including bandwidth and time slots, while avoiding interference, desires serious consideration. Secondly, the coverage area of BSs becomes small and irregular, resulting in much frequent and complicated handovers when mobile users move around. How to ensure continuous communication and implement effective mobility management, and inter-cell resource allocation and cooperation, remains a challenging issue. Thirdly, such dynamic change in spatial dimension enables us to re-investigate available and ongoing communications and networking techniques, such as massive MIMO, CoMP, millimeter waves (mmWaves), carrier aggregation, full duplex radio, and D2D communications. To address the aforementioned challenging research issues, this book will investigate the service and QoE provisioning in ultra-dense heterogeneous networks. In particular, firstly we introduce ultra-dense heterogeneous networks by careful definition regarding spatial deployment, generic characteristics, and requirements of ultra-dense heterogeneous networks in order to ensure QoE of mobile users. Secondly, we depict the resource management among small cells in close proximity, mobility management for mobile users (address the super-frequent handovers), and interference management (dealing with the interference due to frequency-reuse in the vicinity). Thirdly, we study the enabling factors, and the integration of ultra-dense heterogeneous networks with enabling technologies, such as massive-MIMO, cloud-RAN, mmWaves, D2D, IoT. Finally, we conclude the book and indicate future directions and challenges.

This book comprehensively discusses the main features of the Chinese patent law system, which not only legally ‘transplants’ international treaties into the Chinese context, but also maintains China’s legal culture and promotes domestic economic growth. This is the basis for encouraging creativity and improving patent law protection in China. The book approaches the evolution of the Chinese patent system through the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius’s classic principle, offering readers a fresh new way to understand and analyze Chinese patent law reforms, while also outlining how Confucian insights could be used to improve the enforcement of patent law and overall intellectual property protection awareness in China. It examines ancient Chinese innovation history, explores intellectual property from a Confucian perspective, and discusses the roots of Chinese patent law, as well as the past three amendments and the trends in the ongoing fourth amendment. In addition to helping readers grasp the mentality behind the Chinese approach to patent law and patent protection, the book provides an alternative research methodology and philosophical approach by demonstrating Confucian analysis, which provides a more dynamic way to justify intellectual property in the academic world. Lastly, it suggests future strategies for local industries in the legal, cultural and sociological sectors in China, which provide benefits for domestic and overseas patent holders alike. The book offers a valuable asset for graduate students and researchers on China and intellectual property law, as well as general readers interested in Asian culture and the philosophy of law.
Mr. Gu, who was thirty-two years old, took every step he took, imprisoning Cha'an's heart. However, when Xia An delivered it, the person in Mr. Gu's heart came back. The engagement banquet caused Xia An to return to his original form. After living for twenty-four years, she really wasn't fit to be loved. She smiled and asked Mr. Gu, "Why did you provoke me when there was someone else in your heart? My thoughts are very small, and I can only allow you to stay here by yourself. However, you, are fated to not belong to me. " Only then did Gu Bei Chen realize that he was not the only one who had paid the price for this relationship. However, just as Mr. Gu made clear his intentions, the two of them were once again caught up in a huge conspiracy. This time, between the two of them, there was a life. It was an extremely good life for Gu Beichen and an extremely good life for Xia An. This was the first time that Xia An, who had been carrying this life, had cried to the point of despair. She wanted to say to Mr. Gu, "Let's let each other go. You and I are destined to be separated, this is our fate! " However, she didn't dare to do so. She was afraid that if she said it out loud, everything would end. However, could fate really allow him to dodge whenever he wanted to ...
