Cades Cove came into existence in 1821, when William "Fighting Billy" Tipton was granted 1,280 acres of fine fertile land in the first recorded legal land title to Cades Cove following the Calhoun Treaty of 1819. The area was established as the 16th Civil District of Blount County. At its peak in 1900, the census showed that there were 125 families living in the cove and over 700 individuals. The Cades Cove people were self-sufficient and had many conveniences that others did not. Some residents made their own water system, and there were blacksmiths, coffin makers, farmers, storekeepers, postmasters, and many more occupations--there was no need to go out of their beloved cove for anything. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, this land was obtained by the State of Tennessee through eminent domain, and it later became the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Here lyes Buried the Body of MARTHA PERONNEAU...Departed This Life December Ye 14th 1746 Aged 13 Years." Such an inscription was typical of 18th century grave markers in Charleston, South Carolina. Many epitaphs went on to reveal much more about the deceased: personality, religious beliefs, career accomplishments and social position. Attention to social matters was a natural part of life in Charleston, where descendants of the city's 17th century British founders sought to recreate the class-conscious culture of aristocratic England. The merging of this culture with influences from French Huguenots, German Lutherans, Scottish Presbyterians and Spanish Jews led to funeral practices unique in the American colonies. Focusing on pieces created between 1695 and 1802, this volume offers a detailed examination of the tombstones and grave markers from 18th century Charleston. It discusses not only the general trends and the symbolism of the period's gravestone art--such as skulls, portraits, ascending souls and stylized vegetation--but also examines specific instances of these popular motifs. Tombstones from Charleston's oldest and most significant churches, including the Circular Congregational Church, St. Philip's Anglican Church, the French Huguenot Church and the First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, are explored in detail. The work looks at how Charleston gravestones differed from funerary art elsewhere in the American colonies and reveals them to be some of the earliest examples of American sculpture. A guide to colonial gravestone symbols and a glossary of relevant Latin terms are also included.

With the coming of industrialization, the isolated farming community of Tuckaleechee Cove was transformed in the bustling mill town of Townsend. In 1894, E.J. Kinzel started a mountain retreat in Tuckaleechee Cove, which in later years turned into a mountain hotel with two healing mineral springs.

Screening the Posthuman addresses a heterogenous body of twenty-first century films that turn to the figure of the "posthuman" as a means of exploring this development. Through close analyses of films as diverse as Kûki ningyô [Air Doll] (dir. Hirokazu Koreeda 2009), Testrol és lélekrol[On Body and Soul] (dir. Ildiko Enyedi 2017) and Nomadland (dir. Chloé Zhao 2020), this wide-ranging volume shows that, while often identified as the remit of science fiction, the "posthuman on screen" crosses filmic genres, national contexts, and industrial settings. In the process, posthuman cinema emphasizes humanity's entanglement in broader biological, technological, and social worlds and exposes new models of subjectivity, politics, community, relationality and desire. In advancing these arguments, Screening the Posthuman draws on scholarship associated with critical posthumanist theory-an ongoing project unified by a decentering of the "human". As the first systematic, full-length application of this body of scholarship to cinema, Screening the Posthuman advocates for a rigorous posthumanist critique that avoids both humanist nostalgia and transhumanist fantasy in its attention to the excitements and anxieties of posthuman existence.

I was looking forward to getting back to my nice quiet life at home being Callys maid and being Callys husband. To me that was better than going out of the house for most any reason. I guess this is a good place to end this book as once again; you are caught up with the most unusual life that Cally and I share with our unusual family. However, once again my life with Cally never seems to be dull anymore. In fact, my life with Cally has never been dull; it is just more exciting since we got married almost a year ago. Milly has been progressing very well as her sissy maid self under the direction of Miss T. As well; Molly seems to accept and even enjoy milly better now. Sabrina certainly enjoys sissy maid milly as she gets three days off each week now that she has milly to fill in for her. Sir certainly has brought a lot of excitement to the house and that excitement seems to still be growing as he seeks to dominate everyone in the house and not just us maids and Ally and Toni. Sir getting arrested certainly presents me with a big challenge as although I do not believe that he has actually committed a crime; I do believe that innocent people go to prison because people on juries do not believe that they should live their lives in any way unlike the way society demands of them. In other words, if they do not like what Sir did and the District Attorney says it was wrong, they just agree and give it no more thought. I disobeyed a direct order from Cally for the very first time. Cally let me know that that was unacceptable in a very painful and very humiliating way. I don’t think I will make that mistake again, at least I hope not. Cally and I went to the most unusual place in South America in cooperation with Lloyds of London, the FBI, and Interpol; in an effort to find out why men were disappearing from FemDom Nation; a community of Dominate women and male submissives. FemDom Nation is sort of like a hotel for vacationing Dominate women and Submissive males. People from all over the world come there to enjoy their life style for a few days to a few weeks. Submissive men can go their alone or with a dominate female. Dominate women are welcome with or without a submissive male. It was really a neat place and Cally and I had a very nice time. However our time was cut short as a result of Sir getting arrested, so we came home early and without meeting our objective in order to help out Sir and Ally. Cally and I need to go back again to complete our mission, but Cally decided to wait until after Thanksgiving.

This case will become very interesting in the future, but it concerns everyone who practices any part of BDSM; you will want to stay tuned for this outcome, I got to make love to one of the smartest, the most pretty, the most Lady, the intelligent Cally; my wife.
