This book is based on five-hundred letters, six diaries and the regimental surgeons day book. All new primary resources for the researcher. It is illustrated with 142 plates of photos of the men, maps, and sketches as well as some modern photography. This regiment spent 10 months guarding the Kentucky Central Railroad building blockhouses and was engaged in suppression of Confederate recruitment, spying and communications. They moved into East Tennessee and six months of 1/4 to 1/2 rations and their first battle at Mossy Creek. They then started into the Atlanta campaign loosing heavily at Resaca, Kennesaw and Utoy Creek. They took part in the campaign in Tennessee against Hood, fighting at Columbia, Spring Hill and holding a hitherto unrecorded critical flanking position at Franklin. They fought at Nashville and the pursuit of Hood. They then were transported to Cape Fear North Carolina. Assaulted Ft. Anderson and linked up with Sherman for the final movements resulting in the surrender of Johnson's Forces.

The book takes Barry Turner’s Disaster Incubation Theory as its central theme. The first chapter explores the way Turner structured his theory and the way it has been used, before re-imagining it as a way to fostering foresight. The next three chapters examine key issues in detail. They explain why Turner's model was chosen, outline the issues that need to be considered when seeking to prevent such failures and how to use the proposed frameworks. Chapter 5 examines the lessons learnt from this study and, in particular, looks at the mental approach required when seeking such foresight. Finally, Chapter 6 provides a fully worked example. It uses work by Frank Stech who has applied Turner's theory to a past case. Crises occur everywhere and we continue to struggle to avoid them. In this book Mike Lauder provides executives with thinking tools to help them avoid missing the warning signs of their next crisis.

Undeterred by the rhetoric, the Iraqi dictator massed his forces along the Saudi Arabian border and dared the world to stop him. In response, the United States led the world community in a coalition of 34 nations in what became known as Operation Desert Storm—a violent air and ground campaign to eject the Iraqis from Kuwait. Mildred's Book Store" sounded like a catchy name for my collection of book titles and authors. Mildred, to me, seemed like a good name for an entrepreneur of a small business like an independent bookstore. As in any such retail outlet, there are different categories of books to appeal to any reader. As I began organizing my collection, I was able to arrange them in eight general categories, including a catch-all "Potpourri" section. Since they are only titles and not whole books, I hope that the reader finds favorites in all eight sections. I also hope that this will spur an interest in some of these various fields that leads to purchases of books in those fields. If, by having my collection published, it both entertains and creates interest in new areas of life, I will be completely satisfied.
