Planning theorists normally focus on issues of contest and critique. The field of planning theory is thereby replete with studies of conflict, collaboration and criticism. Considerably less critical attention is afforded to policy approaches that emerge, evolve and are widely adopted in the apparent absence of discord. This book addresses this knowledge gap. A case study of the emergence of green infrastructure policy in Ireland is used to both inform and illustrate a theory of ‘Policy Entitlement’. This interpretive approach focuses on meaning making in context to explain the counter-intuitive processes through which a new policy concept can emerge and reprofile planning activities by producing the seemingly pre-existing objective reality to which such policy is then applied and the discipline (re)orientated. This approach accounts for how a new planning concept can appear to resolve problematic policy ambiguity by suspending disagreement on issues where dispute could be expected. This book will be of interest to those studying planning theory and the policy process, as well as those concerned with the undertheorized but swift rise to prominence of green infrastructure planning.

I've Always Kept a Unicorn tells the story of Sandy Denny, one of the greatest British singers of her time and the first female singer-songwriter to produce a substantial and enduring body of original songs. Sandy Denny laid down the marker for folk-rock when she joined Fairport Convention in 1968, but her music went far beyond this during the seventies. After leaving Fairport she formed Fotheringay, whose influential eponymous album was released in 1970, before collaborating on a historic one-off recording with Led Zeppelin - the only other vocalist to record with Zeppelin in their entire career - and releasing four solo albums across the course of the decade. Her tragic and untimely death came in 1978. Sandy emerged from the folk scene of the sixties - a world of larger-than-life characters such as Alex Campbell, Jackson C. Frank, Anne Briggs and Australian singer Trevor Lucas, whom she married in 1973. Their story is at the core of Sandy's later life and work, and is told with the assistance of more than sixty of her friends, fellow musicians and contemporaries, one of whom, to paraphrase McCartney on Lennon, observed that she sang like an angel but was no angel.

Their suspended coach Ben Reynolds is also having his own personal troubles, trying to deal with the fact that he must serve his punishment handed down by the state and remain on the sidelines, not being able to help. Others in Hillsdale are also experiencing difficulties, specifically members of the football team and cheerleading squad, while the school tries to use the momentum of the week’s festivities to regain the edge that Hillsdale has always been noted for. However, it’s a mystery man from Hillsdale’s past needing his own Homecoming experience who emerges as a Good Samaritan, giving all of the Hillmen a chance to straighten matters out. Sticks and Stones and other Shenanigans is the inspiring story of martial arts instructor extraordinaire Mick Shore, born in Doncaster in 1968 of Irish and Anglo-Indian heritage. “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me” so the saying goes, but Mick Shore was to learn that names do indeed hurt. However, he never let anyone see him cry; instead, he used the hateful name calling to make him stronger. Raw truths from the son of an Irishman, former victim of bullying and accomplished all round martial artist in the world of martial arts. Did you know...? In the 18th Century, the faction fighters of Tipperary used to gather together in groups or “fighting factions” to do battle with each other over territory or land disputes. This fighting involved the use of bata or clubs and when the law prohibited the carrying of a club or gavel, the fighters extended these bata to the length of a walking cane to get around the new law. Often the bata had the end or knob filled with lead for greater striking power in combat and this later became known as a shillelagh. In these battles the men would sometimes be accompanied by their wives as backup. These women would put stones into handkerchiefs and using these like a slingshot would throw them at the enemy. As a result, they were referred to as stone throwers or stone chuckers. The men and fighting women of Tipperary were fierce and the faction fighting spread throughout the south of Ireland with the last being held in 1887 in Cappawhite near Cashel, Co Tipperary, only a few miles from where Mick’s family are from and where his father was born.
