To date, little has been published about the place of spirituality in working with survivors of intimate partner violence. Overcoming Conflicting Loyalties examines the intersection of faith and culture in the lives of religious and ethno-cultural women in the context of the work of FaithLink, a unique community initiative that encourages religious leaders and secular service providers to work together. The authors present the benefits of such cooperation by reporting the findings of three qualitative research studies. Individuals in secular and sacral services who work with victims of domestic violence, as well as academics in the fields of social work, psychology, and religious studies, will benefit from the insights, depth of experience, and range of voices represented in this valuable book. Irene Sevcik, Michael Rothery, Nancy Nason-Clark, and The Very Rev. Robert Pynn have brought their professional expertise and experiences to benefit FaithLink at different times and in different capacities. All of the authors live in Calgary except Nason-Clark, who lives in Fredericton. Sponsored by The Calgary Foundation.
Christians have a special worldview affecting how they experience depression, the “common cold” afflicting our emotional well-being, and that is the focus of this short book. In it, Christians and the important people in their support networks will read about the good news and the bad, the blessings and pitfalls that a Christian faith brings to the problem of managing depressions. The book is hopeful without being simplistic, and it is steadfast in its commitment to the goal of human flourishing in a problematic world.

By organizing eclectic concepts within one basic, powerful framework, it makes these ideas more accessible and effective in practice. No other technique could better demonstrate the practical integration of therapeutic skills and concepts to meet the clients’needs. Clinical Practice with Families offers insight and ideas for practicing family therapists in such essential areas as: negotiating flexible, appropriate boundaries between family members and between yourself and your clients constructing ecomaps of a client's support systems and stressors identifying four kinds of supports helping the client reinterpret family traditions enabling clients to break the pattern of old narratives encouraging clients to set realistic, achievable goals Clinical Practice with Families offers a powerful set of techniques and ideas in a clear, understandable framework.
