For more than 50 years, Mel Tormé has been one of the world's most popular, most versatile, and most accomplished singers. Tormé grew up in show business. He made his first appearance at the age of four, wrote his first hit song at 16, and appeared in countless Hollywood musicals- all before he was 30. He made his reputation singing with the best of the big bands- Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman -and is a noted lyricist, arranger and drummer. He's also one of the few white performers to share the limelight with such jazz greats as Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald.
