Description'Lewton's Affinity With The Pearly Gates.' is an autobiographical account of the first hand mental health experiences of its Author, Matthew Hill, who is played in fiction by the Book's main character Lewton Krill. The story is based upon several key themes, the main being the diagnosis and misdiagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, and the potential diagnosis of depression. Other themes include fighting against the oppression in mental health suffering, sufferer's experiences in fighting for a dream, fighting to keep alive and safe and also sufferers, in this case Lewton, trying to find out what comfort there is in love existing. The book follows Lewton through university, relationship breakdowns, battles with drugs and medication, losing jobs, Lewton's experiences of losing and fighting to keep friends, family and loved ones, and finally it gives insight into how Lewton deals with his own mental health and the mental health of others in his role as counsellor, detailed in the second part of the book. About the Author"Its pressure that carries the burden of promise." Matthew Hill was born in Kampala, Uganda, in 1984. As an orphaned child his life began with a grasp of misfortune losing his biological parents. He knew his life would hold challenges for him many would struggle to comprehend. Adopted by English parents he was fortunate that he would never go without love and would always have a home to go to. He spent his formative years in Uganda, until he moved to England at age 11. He began his path to success in academics and sport at this young age. He represented Staffordshire county as their school championship's winner, and played semi professional youth football. He was a hard working academic and in 2002 to 2005 he attended Keele university where he gained an upper second class honours degree in LLB Law and Criminology. With a promising legal career before him his world was set up for success. However, his life took a turn for the worst as a loving relationship began to collapse and its final severance from his heart completely shattered his world. He became depressed and his world caved in. In 2006, at age 22, he was admitted into a mental health hospital, the first of two occasions, where after a series of events he was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic. Four years later, in 2010, after suffering from a rollercoaster of oppression and mistreatment, he was informed this was a misdiagnosis. Unfortunately for Matthew, the misdiagnosis not only intensified the pressure on his shoulders, he also endured medicines which were wrongly prescribed, and received treatment which did not get to the root causes of his feelings of intense loss. His medical health in 2010 and at the time of writing 'Lewton's Affiliation with the pearly gates' feel he had suffered a form depression. Now his psychiatrist, reserves a current diagnosis as it visible to him that Matthew experienced an intense melancholic tragedy which passed and Matthew is now in full health. Matthew Hill is now about to commence a Masters qualification in Counselling Psychology, to practice as a Counsellor in future.

Scholars have long recognized the importance of Paul’s citations from the Pentateuch for understanding the argument of Galatians. But what has not been fully appreciated is the key role that Isaiah plays in shaping what Paul says and how he says it, even though he cites Isaiah explicitly only once (Isaiah 54:1 in Galatians 4:27). Using an intertextual approach to trace more subtle appropriations of Scripture (i.e., allusions, echoes and thematic parallels), Harmon argues that Isaiah 49-54 in particular has shaped the structure of Paul’s argument and the content of his theological reflection in Galatians. Each example of Isaianic influence is situated within its original context as well as its new context in Galatians. Attention is also paid to how those same Isaianic texts were interpreted in Second Temple Judaism, providing the larger interpretive context within which Paul read Scripture. The result is fresh light shed on Paul’s self-understanding as an apostle to the Gentiles, the content of his gospel message, his reading of the Abraham story and the larger structure of Galatians.

There emerged, during the latter half of the eighteenth century, a reflexive relationship between shifting codes of legal evidence in British courtrooms and the growing fascination throughout Europe with the "primitive" Scottish Highlands. New methods for determining evidential truth, linked with the growing prominence of lawyers and a formalized division of labor between witnesses and jurors, combined to devalue the authority of witness testimony, magnifying the rupture between experience and knowledge. Juries now pronounced verdicts based not upon the certainty of direct experience but rather upon abstractions of probability or reasonable likelihood. Yet even as these changes were occurring, the Scottish Highlands and Hebridean Islands were attracting increased attention as a region where witness experience in sublime and communal forms had managed to trump enlightened progress and the probabilistic, abstract, and mediated mentality on which the Enlightenment was predicated. There, in a remote corner of Britain, natives and tourists beheld things that surpassed enlightened understanding; experience was becoming all the more alluring to the extent that it signified something other than knowledge. Matthew Wickman examines this uncanny return of experiential authority at the very moment of its supposed decline and traces the alluring improbability of experience into our own time. Thematic in its focus and cross-disciplinary in its approach, The Ruins of Experience situates the literary next to the nonliterary, the old beside the new. Wickman looks to poems, novels, philosophical texts, travel narratives, contemporary theory, and evidential treatises and trial narratives to suggest an alternative historical view of the paradoxical tensions of the Enlightenment and Romantic eras.

This book examines the relationship between concepts of heroic "gallantry," as projected by the British honours system, and the sociocultural, political, military and international transitions of the supposed Sixties "cultural revolution." In so doing, it considers how a conservative, hierarchical and state-orientated concept both evolved and endured during a period of immense change in which traditional assumptions of deference to elites were increasingly challenged. Covering the period often defined as "The Long Sixties," from 1955–79, this study concentrates on four distinct transitions undergone by both state and non-state gallantry awards, including developments within the welfare state, class and gender discrimination, counterinsurgency and decolonisation. It ultimately sheds fresh light upon the importance of postwar decades to the continued evolution of concepts of gallantry and heroism in British culture using a range of underexplored government and media archives. It is difficult to underestimate the significance of the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 within the biblical tradition. Although hell occupies a prominent position in popular Christianrhetoric today, it plays a relatively minor role in the Christian canon. The most important biblical texts that explicitly describe the fate of the dead are in the Synoptic Gospels. Yet among these passages, only the Lukan tradition is intent on explicitly describing the abode of the dead; it is the only biblical tour of hell. Hauge examines the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, uniquely the only 'parable' that is set within a supernatural context. The parables characteristically feature concrete realities of first-century Mediterranean life, but the majority of Luke 16:19-31 is narrated from the perspective of the tormented dead. This volume demonstrates that the distinctive features of the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus are the result of a strategic imitation, creative transformation, and Christian transvaluation of the descent of Odysseus into the house of hades in Odyssey Book 11, the literary model par excellence of postmortem revelation in antiquity.
