The healthcare system is experiencing unprecedented challenges and opportunities that will revolutionize the sector. The rising demand for health services and the resources restrictions have put increased pressure on healthcare organizations to improve cost-efficiency and service offerings. The pandemic has further exacerbated the main pressure points of the healthcare sector. Currently, the shift towards patient centricity is gaining momentum, therefore there is a need to rethink how health systems can embrace this concept, in particular with digitization, service innovation and value co-creation. Focusing on digital healthcare, this book proposes a theoretical framework, along with managerial implications, on moving towards a patient-centric model. It explores the role of digitization and innovation in solving existing challenges in the sector, and includes the concept of 'One Digital Health', which refers to global health and transformation and recognizes the importance of the connection between humans, animals, nature and the interrelation of different health systems. With clear implications to Sustainable Development Goal 3: ‘Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages,’ the authors argue that innovative transformation in the sector can support the Agenda 2030.

Much has been written on witchcraft by historians, theologians, philosophers, and anthropologists, but nothing by scientists. This book aims to reappraise witchcraft by applying to it the advances in cognitive sciences. The book is divided into four parts. Part I ("Deep History") deals with human emotions and the drive to represent witches as evil female agents. Part II ("Historical Times") focuses on those rare state and church repressions of malefice, which, surprisingly, did not feature in Islamic lands. Modern urbanization dealt a blow to the rural civilizations where accusations of witchcraft were rife. Part III ("In the Laboratory") applies neuroscience to specific case studies to investigate the personification of misfortune, the millenary stereotype witch = woman, the reality of evil, and the phenomenon of treasure hunting. Part IV ("Millenials") wonders whether intentional malefic hatred in a closed chapter in the history of humanity. An Anatomy of Witchcraft is ideal reading for students and scholars. Given its interdisciplinary nature, the book will be of interest to scholars from many fields including evolutionary psychology, anthropology, women’s history, and cognitive sciences.

In Living under the Evil Pope, Martina Mampieri presents the Hebrew Chronicle of Pope Paul IV, written in the second half of the sixteenth century by the Italian Jewish moneylender Benjamin Neḥemiah ben Elnathan (alias Guglielmo di Diodato) from Civitanova Marche. The text remained in manuscript for about four centuries until the Galician scholar Isaiah Sonne (1887-1960) published a Hebrew annotated edition of the chronicle in the 1930s. This remarkable source offers an account of the events of the Papal States during Paul IV’s pontificate (1555-59). Making use of broad archival materials, Martina Mampieri reflects on the nature of this work, its historical background, and contents, providing a revised edition of the Hebrew text as well as the first unabridged English translation and commentary. Grazie ad Adriano Olivetti negli anni 1950 e 1960 l’Italia sviluppò un’industria dei grandi computer elettronici, ottenendo eccellenti risultati con l’ “Elea”, competitiva con i concorrenti americani. La scomparsa dei creatori dell’impresa e l’insipienza della classe dirigente italiana pose fine a quella intrapresa. General Electric, erede del sogno Olivetti, realizzò in Italia gli elaboratori GE 115 e GE 130, distribuiti in tutto il mondo. L’Autore di questa autobiografia, allora giovane progettista nei grandi centri di ricerca dell’Olivetti, descrive azienda, macchine e protagonisti di quel periodo d’oro dell’elettronica informatica italiana. Il testo si pone come la continuazione, ma a ritroso nel tempo, del libro che l’Autore scrisse sulla Fiat degli anni 1976-1996 (“Fiat - I segreti di un’epoca”), non si esime dal toccare temi scottanti, denunciando le debolezze dell’oligarchia finanziaria del Paese che condusse all’abbandono del settore, e delinea i grandi temi socio-economici del tempo, dal “miracolo economico” fino all’“autunno caldo” del 1969. Si spinge fino a valutare quanti guai avrebbero potuto essere risparmiati all’Italia se avesse prevalso l’illuminata visione propugnata da Adriano Olivetti. L’ultimo capitolo racconta la cessione della telefonia Olivetti, che l’Autore visse nel 1996 da vice-presidente dell’azienda d’Ivrea, ormai prossima alla fine.
