When I am all alone, I can convince myself that things will be okay. The truth is, sometimes it isn't. When I am alone, I can convince myself that I have compassion but I get uncomfortable with practicing it. It turns out, I am not as unselfish as I thought I was. In the 1960s and early 1970s, the Wolverines of Andrew Lewis High (Salem, Virginia) won gridiron acclaim under legendary head coach Eddie Joyce. From 1962 through 1971, the Wolverines won two state titles and finished as a runner-up three times.
