Do Pentecostals believe that Genesis 1-2, with their creation narratives, are literally the truth? What about scientists who argue that the world originated in a big bang and life on earth through processes of evolution? Can Pentecostals reconcile their confession that God is the creator of the world and life with science? This book explains how Pentecostals can read the Bible and science in a way that resonates God’s grace and glory. It provides an alternative way of thinking from a biblical perspective about the origins of the universe and the theory of evolution as possible ways to explain where the world and life came from.
Pentecostals emphasize that God is still the Healer of all illnesses, implying that God answers all prayers. What about those who are not healed? How do we explain suffering? Why does a good God allow suffering? Is God not powerful enough to prevent it? In this publication, the author reconsiders these questions from a Pentecostal hermeneutical perspective to develop a novel way to think about God's involvement with suffering among people. His experimental theology speculates how a Pentecostal ethos accommodates a theodicy that acknowledges suffering and God's involvement in people's lives. Although the book is a theologically constituted attempt, anyone can follow and understand its arguments. It concludes with alternative views of suffering, evil, God's loving attention to people, the doctrine of original sin, and Satan. The author also suggests some ways to respond to suffering.
Unfortunately, most of our well-versed, highly educated, scripturally correct, biblically strong, doctrinally true interpreters of the Christian Bible have a tendency in their presentation of biblical topics, interpretations, and various studies to utilize generic terms without taking time to define the terminology so that everyone is on the same basic foundation. This book, Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings, however, brings out the basic foundational subject matters as inspired by God through men. It establishes the theme and purpose of the whole Bible, shows you why every subject revealed throughout the scripture began in Genesis, and focuses on definitely defining terms such as Gods love so that you will not have to rely on your own interpretation based on such statements as Gods love is sacrificial, unconditional, etc. You will no longer struggle with the question what image of God am I? and the true meaning of life and so on. You will then, in your future study of the scripture, be able to interpret all the symbolic, figurative, parabolic, and illustrative biblical revelations based on the foundational principles found in Genesis. You will find that the foundational principles are straightforward and transcend time, while situations are not and do not. Remember there is nothing simplistic about the written Word of God, who has created all the scripture to be known to all mankind of all times, regardless of future accumulation of knowledge and experience. So read Genesis, the Origin of the Beginnings and continue to grow in the Word.
Pre-University Paper from the year 2012 in the subject Didactics for the subject English - Literature, Works, grade: 1,00, , language: English, abstract: Take a trip down memory lane and find yourself in the year 1999. This year marked the birth of a film that would eventually become one of the most praised science fiction films of all time. Not only being received positively by critics and having a worldwide gross profit of over 463 million dollars with a budget of 63 million dollars, The Matrix by the Wachowski Brothers quickly gained a cult following for it’s highly professional fighting scenes, revolutionary special effects and steampunk atmosphere. It spawned two even more successful and anticipated sequels four years later, three video games, comic books and an anime spin-off. But what really made The Matrix a mentionable film was not it’s focus on action scenes, but it’s complex storyline and a wide range of possible Interpretation and Intertextuality. This seminar paper will give you a glimpse of how far those two points can reach. It will summarize the plot of The Matrix first, then it will interpret the points in the movie, that seem unclear and confusing to the viewer and last but not least explain the most notable references and the Intertextuality to works, that inspired the movie. It will, however, only treat the first and original movie The Matrix and not it’s sequels Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions and other media from the franchise.
