Hi, I am Ranjan, from a remote village in Bihar. Parting gift of Lalita was the beginning of my interest in the second gender. The interest became an obsession which continued. Gender-2 is a gripping tale involving women including young girls, class mates, coworkers, and achievers from the other sex. The best feeling in the world is being in the company of pretty women. It is not a love story rather a story of strong platonic feelings, appreciation and acknowledgement of grace, intelligence and pride of the female gender. Women are the most beautiful creation of God. I still remember times and moments spent in the company of Lalita and Sumita during my college days. Praneet ma’am was a senior colleague. She encouraged me, impressed me and also liked me. I enjoyed my interaction with Saloni and Ankita. I also vividly remember coworkers, Radhika, Parvathy and Padmapriya; my dear scholars, Trisha and Aditiaparna; achievers, Alpana ma’am, Supriya, Vidya, Ruchi and Nandita and my soul mate, Sindhu who made every moment of my life exciting, enjoyable and gratifying. The purpose of life is to live it, enjoy it and taste newer and richer experiences.
In Clothing as Devotion in Contemporary Hinduism, Urmila Mohan explores the materiality and visuality of cloth and clothing as devotional media in contemporary Hinduism. Drawing upon ethnographic research into the global missionizing group “International Society for Krishna Consciousness” (ISKCON), she studies translocal spaces of worship, service, education, and daily life in the group’s headquarters in Mayapur and other parts of India. Focusing on the actions and values of deity dressmaking, devotee clothing and paraphernalia, Mohan shows how activities, such as embroidery and chanting, can be understood as techniques of spirituality, reverence, allegiance—and she proposes the new term “efficacious intimacy” to help understand these complex processes. The monograph brings theoretical advances in Anglo-European material culture and material religion studies into a conversation with South Asian anthropology, sociology, art history, and religion. Ultimately, it demonstrates how embodied interactions as well as representations shape ISKCON’s practitioners as devout subjects, while connecting them with the divine and the wider community.

The saying goes, “When two hearts come closer, discrimination and discretion disappear.” Sara, the Indo-Surinamese girl settled in The Netherlands was drawn closer to the Indian boy, Rahul, while on a tour of Europe. A sad and heartbroken Sara sees Rahul off at Rome Airport after the tour. Would they be fortunate enough, like Sudip and Rita, to unite in a bond of marriage with the happy consent of all? Or would they be defeated by the barriers of distance, protocols, injustice, social and cultural differences and family tragedies? Or be blessed with the power of the almighty, who proclaimed in Srimad Bhagbad Gita, “I and only I, the omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, decide the fate of all living beings and their actions in the mundane Earth?”
