The book is self-contained and includes the desired mathematical background. The book covers most of the data structures and classical graphs algorithms, string algorithms, matroid algorithms, linear algebra algorithms, flow and circulation algorithms, linear programming solvers, and integer algorithms. It covers several topics which are rarely covered in the existing textbooks. Pseudocode is provided for every algorithm. Proof of correctness and the complexity analysis is given for every algorithm. Examples are also provided to help explain several algorithms. The book is designed for an introductory as well as an advance course in the design and analysis of algorithms. It is intended for undergraduate as well as postgraduate students of computer science and engineering. Some of the topics covered in the book are as follows. i) String homomorphism and isomorphism ii) Detailed proof of graph matching algorithm including augmenting path computation iii) Gallai Edmonds decomposition algorithm iv) Matroid Intersection algorithm Klein’s Cycle Cancellation algorithm and Goldberg-Karp’s Minimum Cost Circulation algorithm v) Lower-triangular Upper-triangular decomposition of a matrix using Gaussian Elimination Interior Point method for Linear Programs using Primal-Dual technique vi) Minimum weight Graph Matching algorithm vii) Schonhage-Strassen’s algorithm for integer multiplication and Agarwal-Kayal-Saxena’s algorithm for primality testing
This is an official publication of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. Several luminaries in the field of Pediatric Nephrology, from home and abroad, have contributed their might in bringing out this book. The book has been designed with a practical approach to renal problems in children, faced by treating clinicians in their routine pediatric practice. The book has been kept concise with simple language, making it more reader friendly. The book has 29 chapters, dealing with basic renal functions, common renal conditions in day to day pediatric practice and some of the more complex renal problems in children. Drug dosing guidelines for commonly used drugs in renal failure and a few useful appendices are also incorporated. The two color format will be pleasing to the eye and will facilitate easy reading by highlighting boxes, tables and key messages. The book is ideally suited to the needs of pediatricians, pediatric nephrologists, post graduate students, nephrologists and urologists interested in pediatric aspects of the discipline. Book jacket.

In The Tryst Betrayed, former Indian foreign secretary Jagat Singh Mehta looks back on an eventful career which began on the day after India’s independence. In his lucid and informative style, Mehta sheds light on Nehru’s prophetic assertion of ideological agnosticism (named ‘Non-Alignment’ in 1946) and its distortion by the accidental overlap of decolonization with the Cold War. Mehta argues that Nehru was naïve on China, wishful on the Soviet Union and prejudiced against America. The civil servants were hypnotized by what he refers to as the ‘Panditji knows best’ syndrome. He illustrates that Nehru’s bark was no doubt frightening but his bite not vicious.
