Seniors now comprise nearly one quarter of Canada's population. This startling statistic surprises many, including the seniors who find themselves within this category. Retirees are frequently ill-prepared to deal with the physical and cultural components that encompass the privilege of living a retired life. The Third Season explores the intimate truths of an aging senior woman, whose decisions and understandings have formed her present reality. Growing up in the 1950's and becoming a wife and mother in the 1960's, the author made decisions within the context of her time. Many of the paths she took were good ones. Some were reactionary, according to the pressure of world events and familial shifts around her. From the luxury of retirement, she grapples with how these actions led to her existing physical and emotional health. Through gentle and open thoughtfulness, she steps out of societal expectations to embrace her truths.
Nature's Quiet Wisdom" is a prose poetry collection that invites readers to leave the noisy, distracting world behind and discover the beauty and peace that nature offers us. Lynn H. Wyvill finds inspiration in the hush of a snowy day, comfort in the endless ebb and flow of ocean waves, and strength in a resilient oak tree.
Comforting Prayers for the Caregiver Abundant Strength: A Caregiver's Prayers is a collection of poetry for sons and daughters who must care for their elderly parents. Based on author Lynn H. Wyvill's experience with her aging parents in their last years, this book explores the most challenging work she has ever done. When she felt lonely, frustrated, and exhausted as a caregiver, Lynn turned to prayer. In pouring her heart out to the Lord, she found peace, comfort, and resolve. By sharing these heartfelt prayers, Lynn hopes her words bring other sons and daughters the solace and strength they seek by relying on the Lord's grace and guidance. Just a few minutes to pray with you To catch my breath, to restore my spirit So I can swim gracefully in the sea of caregiving. -"Swimming in the Sea of Caregiving

During the past decade, high-performance computer graphics have found application in an exciting and expanding range of new domains. Among the most dramatic developments has been the incorporation of real-time interactive manipulation and display for human figures. Though actively pursued by several research groups, the problem of providing a synthetic or surrogate human for engineers and designers already familiar with computer-aided design techniques was most comprehensively solved by Norman Badler's computer graphics laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. The breadth of that effort as well as the details of its methodology and software environment are presented in this volume. The book is intended for human factors engineers interested in understanding how a computer-graphics surrogate human can augment their analyses of designed environments. It will also inform design engineers of the state of the art in human figure modeling, and hence of the human-centered design central to the emergent concept of concurrent engineering. In fulfilling these goals, the book additionally documents for the entire computer graphics community a major research effort in the interactive control of articulated human figures.
