There are an estimated forty-eight million Latinas/os living in the United States, roughly sixteen percent of the population. Not only are they the largest minority group in the country but also the youngest: one out of five children is Latina/o. The rise in the Latina/o population has caused for panic in some areas of the country, resulting in hostile and sometimes violent racism and xenophobia, and yet, much of that hatred is fueled not on facts but rather on myths about immigration. To date, most studies on immigration have been data driven, focusing on migrating groups or policy analyses. Latina/o Hope is different. It incorporates salient theories on migration as it moves toward a new theorizing, one that views immigration from the immigrant's perspective. Thus, it integrates research into the depiction of various slices of immigrant experience—the young women disappearing in the city of Juarez, the various students at various stages of their educational journeys, the young children in need of ESL programs, the ethnically-mixed immigrants, the undocumented workers, and others. Latina/o Hope discusses the impact of neoliberal policies and global capitalization on the daily lives of Latina/o immigrants, serving as an inspiration for dialogue, praxis and imagination to love and serve one another.

She quips It was so much fun. I made a lot of friends. Having traveled to two hundred eleven countries, her book is a premiere show case, the world on pages begins in her journeys. At times telling us what we do not already know or somehow we never framed the way she expresses it.

Uno de los grandes problemas de la infinidad que existe, referente a la escasa cultura de la lectura en México es la poca promoción de actividades de sensibilización a la lectura. Me refiero desde luego a las instituciones oficiales que por antonomasia le corresponde realizar todo lo referente a esta área. Por lo mencionado a priori, al no existir espacios o escaparates donde los niños y jóvenes puedan dar a conocer su gran creatividad e imaginación, simple y sencillamente la sociedad deja de evolucionar para quedar en el oscurantismo, como en el Medioevo. En esa patética pasividad, a los niños se les coarta la posibilidad de seguir desarrollando a su máxima capacidad su creatividad. Una vez analizado profundamente durante muchos años y como docente de la Primaria "Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez", de Palenque, Chiapas; México; vi que existía la necesidad imperiosa de hacer realidad todas las actividades del gran proyecto cultural visionario, pero cultura en el amplio sentido de la palabra; que inicié hace aproximadamente veinte años, y precisamente la publicación de la presente obra que contiene las producciones literarias de alumnos de primaria y secundaria, solo es uno de los elementos cristalizados del proyecto. Pero enfatizo algo, no solo es suficiente realizar todo lo mencionado a priori, sino debe existir la necesidad imperiosa de ser filántropo para realizar todo aquello que para la gran mayoría de los entes lo tienen concebido como imposible, es decir; su chip ya se lo programaron para que piensen y actúen como tal. Es nuestra responsabilidad evitar a toda costa que esto le ocurra a las nuevas generaciones.

The so-called "Non-conventional geophysical-geochemical exploration methods" are used, in the particular case of oil and gas exploration, for the detection and mapping of active microseepage of light hydrocarbons with a vertical nature on the gas-oil accumulations. The non-seismic exploration methods used in Cuba are: Remote Sensing, Gravimetry, Aeromagnetometry, Airborne Gamma Spectrometry (AGS) and Morphometry (non-conventional, from the Digital Elevation Model 90x90m). The AGS also classifies, as a non-conventional geophysical-geochemical method, together with the Redox Complex. Besides, it is of interest to know the geological-structural framework where these microseepage occur. That is why the benefits of using these methods (excluding Redox Complex), prior to their integration with geological and seismic data, translate into a first approximation, valid for an initial understanding of geology and mapping of favourable areas of possible gas-oil interest. Finally, from the implementation of these methods (including Redox Complex), perspective sectors for oil and gas are obtained, once the integration with geology and seismic has been carried out. The book presents a brief theoretical account of the methods used and, as practical results, a set of perspective sectors of possible interest for exploration in Cuba. As a complementary result, the book also offer an evaluation of the areas that meet the petroleum-geologist premises for the presence of large accumulations of high quality oil in Cuba.
