Jerri told Andrea the remaining portion of her story. She told her of the manner in which she joined effort with her parents, relatives, and friends to achieve outcomes she never dreamt were possible. At the end of telling her story, Jerri said, “Well, Andrea, I am done.” “Jerri, if you were going to write your story, what title would you give to this part of it?” asked Andrea. “I know. The green grass situation has now been changed. But you are using the changed experience to teach important lessons. So, what happens when the green grass changes?” “It dries up and becomes hay. And the same sheep that wanted the green grass from over the fence can still eat the hay, only in a different form,” said Jerri. “There you go, girlfriend. You made hay . . . you could say, ‘I made hay while the sun was shining,” replied Andrea.

From the age of twelve, Jerri had burning desires to hang out with friends. She watched as other children her age got involved in street activities, which she longed to be a part of. Jerris parents gave their only daughter the attention and love required, but that was not enough for Jerri. Then at age of fourteen, fate created an opportunity for her to fulfill her desires, and so Jerri took hold of it like a piece of cake. Jerris dad warned her of her involvement in the gang: Darling, the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Dad, since you put it that way, this is my green, green grass, and I am going to enjoy it. But it was not long before Jerris green grass began to give her emotional diarrhea and involved cheating death. Follow Jerri as she relates her heart-rending story to her flatmate, Andrea.
