This book explores the spiritual essence of abortion, its historical context, and the empowering lessons of the abortion experience. Abortion can help anyone learn the importance of making conscious choices about how we live our lives. It opens the way to greater connection with life, love, death, and power. It is a rite of passage from identifying as a victim to knowing from the heart. It is a legitimate experience. The essentially pro-life nature of abortion asks us to learn to accept death as part of the flow of life. Misunderstanding and denying the importance of death in life is one of the main reasons for the ferocious "abortion wars". Making conscious choices about pregnancy shows us how we are part of nature, not separate from it. Coming to grips with abortion, both individually and collectively, is a step down the road to taking responsibility for the well being of all life. Women are rising and becoming empowered on a world scale. This book explains how this natural historical development is guided by experiences that put us in direct conflict with limited definitions of ourselves, which can keep us tied to the ways of patriarchy. For many women, having an abortion is fraught with conflicts about personal worth. When the issues are faced and worked through, personal pain transforms into personal power. Embracing the power to carry through with or turn back pregnancy empowers women to bring love into the world in new and stronger ways.
Using touching stories from mothers who have battled hard times as well as a lighthearted look at her own mothering years, Linda Weber helps readers discover the secrets of giving their family not merely a higher standard of living, but a higher standard of life.
Depression, fear, a sense of unworthiness, and unfulfilled dreams can make women retreat to their beds--figuratively and literally--and refuse to face life. Yet most of the time, hiding in bed makes matters worse. Who needs emotional bedsores? Authors Martha Bolton and Christin Ditchfield gently show women how to climb out from under their emotional bedcovers, face their fears and doubts, and step into the lives God has planned for them. Can I Just Hide in Bed 'til Jesus Comes Back? faces down the fear, depression, and unfulfilled dreams that cripple many women to the point of wanting to crawl in bed--for the rest of their lives. Compiled as a collection of short, mostly humorous and warmhearted stories, it offers readers practical, concrete steps to help them move forward when they are ready. Essays are interspersed with special humor features such as "Top Ten" lists, while "Whenever You're Ready" sections offer Scriptures, journaling questions, and practical suggestions for "putting your feet on the floor" and "taking a few steps forward." The book addresses four themes: Facing feelings of fear, anxiety, discouragement, and depression Facing people and relationship issues Facing the pain of grief and loss Facing life--and getting yours back

GATEWAY TO HELL'S FURY The Union of Arcana has expanded through the portals linking parallel universes for over a century and a half. In that time, its soldiers and sorcerers have laid claim to one uninhabited planet after another¾all of them Earth, and in the process, the Union has become the most powerful, most wealthy civilization in all of human history. But now the Union's scouts have discovered a new portal, and on its far side lies another human society, Sharona, which has also been exploring the Multiverse, and the first contact between them did not go well. Arcana is horrified by the alien weapons of its sudden opponents, weapons its sorcerers cannot explain, weapons based upon something called . . . science. But Sharona is equally horrified by Arcana's "magical" weapons. Neither side expected the confrontation and each thinks the other fired first. But as the initial disastrous contact snowballs into all-out warfare, both sides can agree on one thing. The portal which brought them together is Hell's Gate itself! At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). "Magic and high tech collide in this exciting military SF novel from bestseller Weber and Evans, the first of a new series. . . . The authors treat both societies sympathetically and realistically, with human vices and virtues evenly distributed."¾Publishers Weekly

Issue framing is the way that people, especially politicians, get other people to view a particular problem or issue. By framing the issue in a particular way, the goal is to get people to think about the issue, to believe that an action is required and, most importantly, to believe that a particular action (the one being proposed by the framer) is the right one. The use of language and imagery is an essential part of issue framing and has been an integral part of the presidency since our nation’s founding, but it has become particularly important since Theodore Roosevelt began to take his message directly to the people. This work examines a selected speech delivered by every president from Roosevelt through Barack Obama to show how language has been instrumental in directing policy. Each chapter will examine the situation or background for the problem, include a transcript of the speech the president delivered, and conclude with an analysis of the speech in terms of the particular frame that the speech utilized and the eventual outcome, or policy direction, inspired by the speech.
