This book investigates handwritten entertainment fiction (shouchaoben wenxue) which circulated clandestinely during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Lena Henningsen’s analyses of exemplary stories and their variation across different manuscript copies brings to light the creativity of these readers-turned-copyists. Through copying, readers modified the stories and became secondary authors who reflected on the realities of the Cultural Revolution. Through an enquiry into actual reading practices as mapped in autobiographical accounts and into intertextual references within the stories, the book also positions manuscript fiction within the larger reading cosmos of the long 1970s. Henningsen analyzes the production, circulation and consumption of these texts, considering continuities across the alleged divide of the end of the Mao-era and the beginning of the reform period. The book further reveals how these texts achieved fruitful afterlives as re-published bestsellers or as adaptations into comic books or movies, continuing to shape the minds of their audience and the imaginations of the past. Did the Christian Church rewrite history? In the midst of her research on the historical Jesus, scholar Lena Einhorn stumbled upon a surprising find. While reading through narratives of the Jewish revolt by first-century historian Flavius Josephus, Einhorn encountered a number of similarities to the Bible. These parallels—all limited to a short period of time—include an unnamed and mysterious messianic leader strikingly similar to the Jesus described in the Gospels—only he’s not the peaceful miracle worker we know so well. Significantly, Einhorn found that historical records consistently place these events (which allude to the conspicuous figure in Josephus’s writings) twenty years later than in the New Testament. A Shift in Time explores the possibility that there may have been a conscious effort by those writing and compiling the New Testament to place Jesus’s ministry in an earlier, less violent time period than when it actually happened. In this groundbreaking book, Einhorn argues that when the bible and the accounts of first-century historians are compared side by side, it is clear that the events that shaped the Christian world were not exactly as they seem. Elements of this emerging hypothesis were included in Einhorn’s previous book,The Jesus Mystery, originally published in Swedish in 2006 and later published in the United States. In the past 30 years, corporate social responsibility (CSR), including the link between CSR and human resource management (HRM), has entered the agenda of managers and management researchers. In this context, "Responsible HRM" refers to the complete employee lifecycle, focusing on fair and transparent pay allocation and promotion decisions, especially with regard to discrimination based on demographic aspects such as gender, age, and race. Organizations can use Responsible HRM to tackle "grand challenges", such as (gender) inequality, within the organization and beyond, thus contributing to global problem solving. The empirical studies of this dissertation are at the intersection of CSR and HRM. They stress antecedents as well as the impact of CSR and Responsible HRM. Study 1 takes a broad and multifaceted perspective on CSR and its impact on organizational reputation. The remaining three studies focus on Responsible HRM and gender equality: Study 2 uses a comprehensive survey data analysis to explore the effects of the German "Transparency in Wage Structures Act", which aims to reduce the gender pay gap. Study 3 examines antecedents and outcomes of equality-enhancing HRM practices, especially pay transparency, by studying the relationships of works councils and management. Study 4 identifies the organizational advantages of promoting female employees into leadership positions, thus speaking to the problem of inequality in career opportunities.

Here, Tiemeyer shows that this hypothesis is nonetheless reasonable and instrumental in shedding light on matters in Zechariah's vision report that are otherwise unclear. Tracking through each verse of the text, the key exegetical problems are covered, including the topics of the distinction between visions and dreams, dream classification, conflicting sources of evidence for dream experiences, and rhetorical imagery as opposed to dream experience. Further attention is focused on the transmission of the divine message to Zechariah, with the key question raised of whether a visual or oral impression is described. Tiemeyer's study further demonstrates that Zech 1-6 depicts a three-tier reality. This description seeks to convey the seer's visionary experience to his readers. In a trance state, Zechariah communicates with the Interpreting Angel, while also receiving glimpses of a deeper reality known as the 'visionary world.

By chronicling the development of American art from its earliest days to the present, Lena demonstrates that while the American arts may be more open, they are still unequal. She examines key historical moments, such as the creation of the Museum of Primitive Art and the funneling of federal and state subsidies during the New Deal to support the production and display of culture. The Contradictions of Love: Towards a feminist-realist ontology of sociosexuality offers a robust and multifaceted theoretical account of how, in contemporary western societies, women continue to be subordinated to men through sexual love. The book defends and elaborates Anna G. Jónasdóttir’s thesis that men tend to exploit women of their ‘love power’, by means of an innovative application of critical realism, dialectical critical realism and the philosophy of metaReality. Gunnarsson also offers a critique of the state of affairs of contemporary feminist theory. The author demonstrates that the meta-theoretical framework of critical realism offers the tools that can counter the poststructuralist hegemony still prevailing in feminist theory. On a general level, The Contradictions of Love attempts at reconciling theoretical positions which tend to appear in opposition to one another. In particular, it offers a way of bridging the gap between the notion of love as a locus of exploitation and that of love as a force which can conquer oppression. This book is a unique and timely contribution in the field of feminist theory, in that it offers the first elaborate assessment and development of Jónasdóttir’s important but relatively sidestepped work, and in that it counters poststructuralist trends from the point of view of a robust critical realist framework that has hitherto been spectacularly absent in feminist theory, although it offers solutions to metatheoretical problems at the forefront of feminist debates; in the field of critical realism broadly defined, in that it elaborates on crucial ontological themes of (dialectical) critical realism and the philosophy of metaReality via a discussion of the issues of love, sexuality, gender and power; and finally, in the field of love studies, in that it offers a sophisticated account of how gender asymmetries prevail in love despite norms of gender equality and reciprocity, and in that it reconciles feminist, conflict-oriented perspectives on love with notions of love as transcending conflict.

Seminar in Corporate Development and Business Ethics, language: English, abstract: The social norms approach has been used as a foundation for various studies mainly around the prevention of youth risk behaviour and encouragement of pro-social behaviour. The approach is seen as a useful tool to explain human behaviour and actively initiate behavioural changes. This paper sheds light on the social norms approach from a different perspective, namely from the perspective of Non-Violent Communication (NVC). First, the social norms theory (SNT) is presented, referring to the larger framework of the theory and then to the study “The Constructive, Deconstructive and Reconstructive Power of Social Norms” of Wesley Schultz and his colleagues. In chapter 3, the basic assumptions and principles of NVC after Marshall Rosenberg are contoured. In chapter 4, the assumptions of SNT also drawing on the study of Schultz and his colleagues are examined from the perspective of NCV. The conclusion summarizes the findings and points towards implications for ethical culture.

The main method used to derive the empirical findings was a focus group. This report is the third report in a series where the product of fiber board coffins was developed from initial design stage to engineering phase and finally this business report. Due to the shift from a company centric view to a customer centric view on the market place, companies need to adapt their strategies when launching a new product to make sure they offer an added value to the customer. Target costing considers the customer-centric view by setting a price first and then deriving the placement of costs. Distribution of costs is done by seeking the customer’s opinion and asking for what is important to them in the product. The report describes how the target price was set and costs distributed to reach a satisfactory product for both the client and the company. Besides costs, consumer behavior and customer value influence how the product should be marketed. Two main areas influence the consumer when purchasing a product: macro, external, and micro, internal factors. It was found that the macro factors play an important role when setting boundaries to the product whereas the micro factors can be used to place the product and derive a unique selling proposition. The consulted focus group showed clear results. The three most important factors in the purchase of a coffin are price, color and sustainability. From all the insights mentioned above an advertisement of a catalogue was developed and the conclusion reflects the concept, how to market it, and what could be a motivation to purchase it.
