The immediate purpose of this handbook is to aid further research by stating, in a form providing handy reference, the facts concerning the Communist ideology in Hungary Following a narrative of the vicissitudes of that ideology prior to its power-phase - intended as a general introduction contributing to the proper assessment of the 1945-1965 period, which is the main concern of this book - the essential and relevant facts concerning the events, issues, organizations and opinions which have shaped post-war Hungarian Marxism Leninism are set out without indulging in lengthy commentaries and personal value-judgements. (Since even the 1956 revolution is treated thus - perhaps the most important, and certainly the most controversial single event of the above period - I should add that the reader interested in finding a detailed analysis and evaluation of the ideological relevance of that event may refer to my Individualism Collectivism and Political Power, The Hague, 1963, pp. 111-140. ) Despite the specificity of much of the data, sufficient translations of Hungarian titles, names and terms have been provided to render the present book useful for the investigator regardless of whether or not he reads Hungarian. But the fundamental purpose of this volume is to make a modest contribution to East-West understanding. It has arisen from the belief that the lessening of world-tensions is best served by understanding, and understanding is best served by objective information.

The book is composed of two main parts: mathematical background and queueing systems with applications. The mathematical background is a self containing introduction to the stochastic processes of the later studies queueing systems. It starts with a quick introduction to probability theory and stochastic processes and continues with chapters on Markov chains and regenerative processes. More recent advances of queueing systems are based on phase type distributions, Markov arrival processes and quasy birth death processes, which are introduced in the last chapter of the first part. The second part is devoted to queueing models and their applications. After the introduction of the basic Markovian (from M/M/1 to M/M/1//N) and non-Markovian (M/G/1, G/M/1) queueing systems, a chapter presents the analysis of queues with phase type distributions, Markov arrival processes (from PH/M/1 to MAP/PH/1/K). The next chapter presents the classical queueing network results and the rest of this part is devoted to the application examples. There are queueing models for bandwidth charing with different traffic classes, slotted multiplexers, ATM switches, media access protocols like Aloha and IEEE 802.11b, priority systems and retrial systems. An appendix supplements the technical content with Laplace and z transformation rules, Bessel functions and a list of notations. The book contains examples and exercises throughout and could be used for graduate students in engineering, mathematics and sciences.

The Rat Catcher is a who-dun-it when the doer is cheered on, as The Rat sets out to execute the perpetrators of the Holocaust who received no punishment, or merely a slap on the wrist for their gruesome crimes. The executions are vivid and gruesome, befitting the crimes of the perpetrators. A Hungarian super sleuth and a NYPD senior detective are assigned the task of running down and bringing to justice the serial killer. Their chase runs over three continents, and altogether takes ten years. The never do manage to catch The Rat, and the identity of the serial killer, even after 25 killings (executions) remains a mystery to all but the NYPD detective and the reader. A great story, well told by a retired ciunematographer (SHOGUN his most famous credit) who knows how to lay out a vivid scene.

The nearly 50-year history of the MiG-21 has many exciting and unpublished topics for both the flight enthusiasm and historians alike. One such topic is the ability of the airplane to carry a tactical nuclear bomb, even though its official classification was only a fighter aircraft. The successful introduction of a specialized version of the MiG-21 in the second half of the 1960s progressively expanded the nuclear potential of frontal aviation. In the ’70s the Soviet Air Force command requirements were to the new type of MiG-21 aircraft whether intended for a nuclear or conventional mission will all be technically capable of nuclear bomb delivery. At some time - after the PFM manufacturing finished in 1969 - immediately start to design and develop new modular special equipment for the upcoming type of MiG-21’s that widespread the MiG-21 family nuclear capability. This book tries to summarize all of the valuable information, documents, and photographic evidence that the author collected in the last 15 years about nuclear carrier MiG-21. The publication is focusing on the technical requirements, how the airplane became a nuclear carrier, how it’s operated, how their special weapons handled, which equipment required for tactical nuclear bomb delivery. Contain more than 200 photos, 3D renders, drawings and pictures. In addition, the illustrations include many unpublished photographs.

The source of his travelogues has been the numerous trips he has taken from the United States to more than sixty countries, particularly in the last three decades, which encompass mostly recreational trips/vacations, reflecting the authors wide-ranging interests in geographic and cultural explorations all over the world, but particularly in Europe, where he has established two regional residences: one in Southern France in 1983 and another one in Budapest, Hungary, in 2000. From these bases he originated many of these trips. The book is narrated in a unique, perhaps scattered and unusual, style, considering the many destinations in different time frames, often repeatedly, and covering the common, practical aspects of todays travels into foreign lands: from ticket purchases to challenges during travel-e.g., jet lag and other health problems. There is varied information from many social, economical, educational, and artistic aspects about many European countries first and, in the second half of the book, encountered in several overseas countries on five continents. The last part of the book deals with episodes in selected cities in the United States and abroad, often with a humoristic veneer. In essence, the reader is presented with a lot of material and with analytically aspired, but often critical and subjective, stories. Still, the author believes that the contents are worth going through and pondering about.
