Contained within this book are seven sermons that are God-inspired with the purpose of bringing to the forefront of Gods people the great need for each of us to look at ourselves with a desire to rid from our lives all things, inclusive of people, that inhibit and corrupt our walk with Him. There is a focus on our thought life, words, associations, inclinations, and the actions we perform that are misrepresentative of God and displeasing to Him. The topics are: Operation Detox, Thinking Positive Thoughts, Do You Want to Be Made Whole, We Are What We Think, Fatal Attractions, Detoxifying the Tongue, and Lord Clean This House from the Inside Out. It is my prayer that these manuscripts will inspire and impact your life as much as they did to those who heard them when I first preached them. I am certain that they will. So, let the journey begin toward a more healthier, holier, and authentic you.
This Book embodies the expectations and aspirations of Kingdom people as expounded in a series of 10 sermons, through which the inspiration of the Holy Spirit conveyed unto me to share with you. The topics are: Kingdom Commitment, Kingdom Greatness, Kingdom Priorities, Kingdom Investments, Kingdom Focus, Kingdom Economics, Kingdom Purpose, Kingdom Attitudes, Kingdom Characteristics and Kingdom Privilege. Throughout the teachings of New Testament Scripture the theme of the Kingdom is central. John the Baptist preached the Kingdom and Jesus Himself commenced His earthly ministry on the same topic: Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Matt 4:17). At a matter of fact, at the heart of Jesus' commandments for His followers is the decree of Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God." As disciples of Christ, we are encouraged to walk in the footstepsof Jesus (1 Peter 2:2 & 1 John 2:6) and to take on the very mindset of Christ (Philippians 2:5). In this we are called "Christians," and in this, we showcase to the world from generation to generation that "It's all about the Kingdom!
Why are we here? Does life have meaning? Does life have purpose? What is the point of human life? In this book, Make Life Count, these questions are examined and answered. Life does have meaning. Life does have purpose. But it all starts with God. It all starts with God because all life begins and ends with God. Without God, life has no meaning or purpose. God is the creator. Our lives are in his hands. He is the giver of life, the sustainer of life, the restorer of life, and the meaning to life. Apart from God, life is monotonous, wisdom is vain, wealth is futile, and death is final. How do we make life count? We start with God. We stay with God. We submit to God. This is the premise of this book. All life has purpose. Every story is important. Every year matters. Every ticktock of the clock is vital.
And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other one on the left. Then Jesus said..." (Luke 23:22-34a). What did Jesus say? From the cross at Calvary seven times Jesus spoke. These seven expressions grant us the privilege of peering into the mind and soul of Jesus at the very time He is accomplishing God's will as the Lamb, who was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). In each spoken word, there is a message and a lesson. In each spoken word we glimpse the humanity of Jesus or the heart of Jesus, or the mission of Jesus, or the compassion that Jesus still had for others even while He was suffering and dying on the cross. From the cross at Calvary seven times Jesus open His mouth fulfilling prophecy and revealing, through His words, who He really was and what He came to earth to do. The Gospel writings in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John affords us the opportunity of being at the cross and hearing Jesus speak seven astonishing statements: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do" (Luke 23:33), Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43), "Woman, behold your son" (John 19:26), "Behold your mother" (John 19:27), "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me" (Matthew 27:46), "I Thirst" (John 19:28), "It is finished" (John 19:30), and "Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit" (Luke 23:46). May what be written in the pages of this book enlighten you as to why Jesus said what He said and what relevance His words are intended to have to us today.
