At the foundational level of westernized cultures is a Core Belief Matrix. This matrix consists of seven imbedded beliefs that bind us to a three dimensional world of limitations. Author Lark Batey takes the reader on a fascinating and liberating journey of systematic investigation and self exploration that reveals the ruse of the matrix and guides the reader to the discovery of the Sovereign Self. As a consciousness explorer, the reader will travel through historical events that defined the matrix, experience the story of our origins through the mythology of The Grand Experiment, and learn more about archetypal influence by traversing the mountains and valleys of our inner landscape through The Fools Journey and other universal paths of awakening. Traveling deeper into ones psyche, the explorer discovers how the play of duality, psychological overlays, and shame deepen the oppression of the Matrixs hold upon us. The next destination on the journey takes the explorer to the Field of All Possibilities, where glimpses of the Sovereign Self appear. Finally, the matrix can be dismantled and the explorer can Break Free from the Tyranny of Beliefsto dream new dreams that will create new worlds.

Until recently, the lives and issues of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual (LGB) people have been rendered largely invisible in the larger society and in the counseling professions. LGB-affirmative counseling professionals are no longer without voice; however, the stories of navigating sexual orientation as counseling professionals have not be told or explored in any systematic way. Deconstructing Heterosexism in the Counseling Professions uses the personal narratives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and heterosexual counseling psychologists and counselor educators to deconstruct the heterosexist discourse in the counseling professions, envision a discourse of sexual orientation equity, and make practical suggestions for addressing sexual orientation in professional life. The narrative approach encompasses a diversity of stories and experiences including an emphasis on racial and cultural contexts. These narratives and their analyses serve as a means for the individual and collective self examination that is needed to move LGB affirmative practice, training, and scholarship from the margins to the center of what it means to be a counseling professional. Key Features: • Rather than a focus on "how to", the focus is on stimulating collective and individual self examination and providing empowerment and guidance to counseling professions in navigating sexual orientation in one′s professional life. • This book exposes and challenges the heterosexist discourse in the counseling professions AND examines how to build the strength and complexity of the current LGB affirmative counter discourse in the counseling professions. • The chapters in the second section of the book provide unique treatments of difficult issues for counseling professionals concerning sexual orientation: tensions between race and sexual orientation, and issues around openness versus other ways to manage a minority sexual identity. • The book is authored by over 30 counseling professionals and contains narratives about the experiences of over 20 professionals, many of whom are well-known in the LGB affirmative counseling and in the larger fields of counseling psychology and counselor education. Deconstructing Heterosexism in the Counseling Professions will be essential reading for graduate students, practitioners, and faculty who are interested in issues of sexual orientation and are in counseling psychology and/or the many sub-specialties of counseling. It will also be of interest to counseling professionals whose primary interest may lie in other issues of diversity, particularly the multicultural and feminist professional communities.

H. Lark Hall presents the first comprehensive biography of Vernon Louis Parrington (1871-1929). The recipient of the 1928 Pulitzer Prize in history for the first two volumes of his Main Currents in American Thought, Parrington remains one of the most influential literary and historical scholars of the early twentieth century.Parrington was a man in search of a personal myth. He found his self-image successively mirrored in Victorian novels, painting, poetry, populism, religion, the arts and crafts movement, American literature, and American history. These changes were also reflected in his teaching as a professor of English - at the College of Emporia, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Washington. Published late in his career, the two volumes of Main Currents represented the culmination of his search.Drawing upon his personal papers - including correspondence, diaries, and student course work, Main Currents chapter drafts, and other unpublished writings - Hall traces Parrington's intellectual development from his Midwestern childhood through his mid-life engagement with English poet and artist William Morris, then from the radical impact of "the new history" to the tempered post World War One reflection of his career at the University of Washington. Hall's reinterpretation of Main Currents emphasizes Parrington's concern with the drama of the life of the mind and links his historical viewpoint to his own personal history.
The Heart’s abilities and power are the new frontier of spiritual exploration in humanities’ search for self-understanding. This book offers leading-edge information about the Models of Existence which provides a significant contribution to the body of work about the Power of the Heart. Beginning with an origin myth rooted in ancient history drawn from the works of Sitchin and others and expanded upon with recently revealed revelations from the WingMakers Materials, we learn a little-known story of imposter gods that initially created humanity as slave labor. Through a synthesis of myth, history, psychology, science, religion, and social issues, a picture emerges illustrating how the world of separation and oppression has been maintained to deceive humanity. Heart-centered archetypes are introduced to equip humanity with the tools necessary to transcend the programming of the imposter gods and contribute to an appreciation of why this is so important. A Source-Centered model of existence is offered to assist in our transformation.
It is a story that moves us to tears. An American couple travels across the world to rescue a child from the hopelessness of a foreign orphanage, bringing their new son or daughter to a life of love and family. But does this transition always go smoothly? Adoptive parents hope their child will easily fit into the family and quickly become emotionally connected to the parents or siblings. But child psychologists and adoption experts say this connection is the most difficult aspect of international adoption. In countries where international adoptions are common-China, Russia, or Romania-orphanages commonly represent the available children to their new parents as healthy kids who just need a little love. In many cases, this is a gross misrepresentation. Children who spend time in institutionalized care may have experienced trauma, and therefore may not attach easily to their new family. Parents anxious to bring these children into their homes and their hearts struggle seriously with this issue. Although these children will eventually adapt in a healthy fashion, the road to emotional health and harmony can be a rocky one. Becoming a Family tackles this intricate issue head on. It provides parents with effective strategies for ensuring that their adopted child adjusts as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Practical and accessible, this book will help parents identify severe problems before the adoption, significantly reduce the risk of future difficulty, improve the damage already done to the child's otherwise normal, healthy development, and dramatically help enfold the child into a family ready to give love, security, and a new life.
