This book contains the story of my nine year journey to understanding my true identity as a spiritual being having a human experience. A number of modalities were used to discover what I now know: shamanic journey, dream awareness, and past life regression both self-directed and using a professional hypnotherapist. This is my story and need be no one's else. The simple truth is that all this was shared with me through a desire to know myself and how I might be of service as an incarnated human being on Earth. The peace I have found is inestimable and also very simple. In truth, there are no words that can fully describe my experience or the "knowing" I have gained. The stories shared with me are layers of who I am and exist on paper to help my human mind make sense of what I feel and know on a much deeper level. It is my hope that the peace I have found can be of assistance as an example of what is possible to someone else.
Until recently, making photographic portraits of artists in their space was an ongoing project for me that began in 1979. Over two hundred and fifty artists have kindly collaborated with me by posing. My intent has been to share artists with the public in a way that both defines the artists using their environments and in the process make them more real and accessible. All too often, an artist is only known for their work. This book contains the portraits of forty-five important New York artists made during the month of May, 1982 during a trip to New York. Some included are Andre Kertesz, Robert Mapplethorpe, Cornell Capa, Alex Katz, and Chuck Close.
This book contains 71 portraits of women artists made between 2013 and 2017. The purpose was to bring my portraits of artists archive to a state of gender parity to help balance a bit the out of balance representation of women artists in museums, galleries and collections. They include women like Squeak Carnwith, Hung Liu, M. Louise Stanley, Jeniffer Brazelton and Bella Feldman. They are all residents of Northern California. This is a catalogue to accompany the exhibition, 71 Women in Art, exhibited at Pence Gallery in Davis, CA in late 2017.
This book contains portraits of 51 women artists in their personal space, their studios and other locations of their choice. 30 of the portraits were created in an 11 week period following receipt of the Leff/Davis Fund for Visual Artists in October, 2014. Those 30 were exhibited in February, 2015 at Archival Gallery in Sacramento, CA. The remaining 21 portraits of women artists are from my archive of artist portraits now numbering almost 300. This project was begun in 1979. The purpose of this catalog and the exhibition it accompanies is to address the need for gender equity in both the world of art and my personal portrait archive.
This book contains twenty two full color mandalas made using photographs made in nature. In each mandala natural elements have been incorporated from photographs made while walking on the Earth. Some of the elements include; trees, stones, water, air, grass, sand, gravel and, most importantly light, indicative of the energetic life force in everything.
