Ever since the birth of my firstborn, Emma, I have come to taste a love from God that I had never known before. This newfound love I experienced filled me with a new desire to help all mommas know how truly loved they are-loved by the Highest King and worthy of raising His children that He gave us as an inheritance. Two years ago, I started writing devotions that sparked from my taste in God's love, which consisted of the everyday moments I experienced with my daughter. While writing, I became pregnant with my son, Asher; and shortly after, the unimaginable happened. My firstborn, the daughter who helped me taste God's love, became diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Now, a new trial tested my faith in God's love and everything I had been writing about.Soon, my writings became a journey where I desperately needed to stay wrapped up in God's love-a deeper calling into His grace by finding Him in the suffering. A new question arose from the pain, "Do I really know God's love?" I felt as if I could hear God speaking into my heart, "You had a taste of my love, but you don't truly understand how great My love is." A love that I had to learn to take root in, discovering one day at a time by ridding myself of my fleshly nature and filling myself up with His word.Momma, I invite you to take this forty-day journey with me through real-life momma moments where God's love carried me through. May you allow me into your day and help you feel God wrapping you up into His strong arms. I pray my writings and testimonies will speak life to your heart and open your soul to become rooted in His love.

Approaching Druidry as an emerging religious movement that offers an alternative to the mainstream materialist, consumerist culture of the United States, Kimberly Kirner analyses her own life as a Druid through the lens of her profession as a cultural anthropologist. Interweaving lively stories of her life as a Druid with accessible analytical essays drawing from an unusual array of literature from the anthropology of religion, the anthropology of consciousness, organizational anthropology, cognitive anthropology, and ethnoecology, she leads the reader into an experiential and conceptual understanding of Druidry as a way of life and as a contemporary Western new religious movement that challenges Christo-centric definitions of religion. Reflecting on three domains of the Druidic life, the author describes the Druidic worldview (place, time, and the body), community (relational spirituality), and vocation (ethics and action). These descriptions are punctuated with reflective essays that question the boundaries and nature of religion as it is generally understood in the Western world by examining how Druidry might be understood using concepts more appropriate to Druids' conceptualizations of themselves.

Even Now is a book about faith and holding onto hope that things all work out for good. The road of faith is indeed a tough road to walk, and some people have no faith at all. Others have it but somehow lose it along the way. This book encourages those who feel all hope is lost, giving them a fresh new start on life and all of its possibilities through the power of believing it can be done. The author knows there is someone who simply thirsts for positive change in their lives but can't get off the hamster wheel of unbelief. The author, through simple words of encouragement, backed by biblical reference shows her audience that believing is power in itself. Her words are easily interpreted without overuse of extreme jargon and convey to those seeking better in their lives that there is a way to live joyfully and with hope for the new day ahead. The promises that are made to us by God are the principles for which we stand strong, and this book personifies those principles. Hope is a powerful four-letter word, and it's given to us by the Word of God. This book gives us hope that better is on the horizon when we trust and believe it to be done. The author has granted us a peek inside God's gentle and humble heart and encourages the reader to try Him for themselves. Life can be hard to endure for many people, but this book provides a road map that leads to the One who can provide hope in the middle of despair, peace in the middle of a storm, and a solid foundation where the ground you stand upon feels unstable. Take the opportunity to read this book and take the challenge to start your journey with faith in God to do the things that seem impossible. See what a difference it can make in your life.

What is a godly way of life? A godly way of life is living our lives in "the way" Jesus lived his life, the "godly way," according to His teachings. By following in "the way" in which Jesus Christ lived, a godly way, by living our lives in a godly way, we begin to crave more and more the teachings of the Bible and to learn the Bible, which teaches us how to love unconditionally, to be thankful, to glorify our Creator and to become a light, an example that the rest of the world can see our Creator's unconditional love, acceptance, and grace through us.

Weddings have become a billion-dollar industry, with the average cost of a wedding estimated at $30,000. Taking into account dramatic shifts in attitudes toward marriage in recent years, many pastors are confused and frustrated about their role. This book offers a foundational understanding of marriage for today's North American church. Exploring current sociological analyses of marriage and the history of Christian marriage rites, Kimberly Bracken Long suggests that the church rethink its involvement in weddings and offers a distinctively Christian understanding of marriage. Today's church, Long contends, needs to reinterpret classic biblical metaphors and expand the range of scriptural sources that inform our understanding of marriage. Long also looks closely at each element of the wedding service and what makes a marriage liturgy faithful, inclusive, and sensitive to pastoral concerns. She provides practical suggestions for music and Scripture during wedding services as well as guidance on how to respond faithfully to those who are divorced or divorcing. Packed with constructive pastoral wisdom, From This Day ForwardRethinking the Christian Wedding delivers a practical theology of marriage that will be of help to clergy, seminarians, and others interested in this topic.

Kimberly B. Stratton investigates the cultural and ideological motivations behind early imaginings of the magician, the sorceress, and the witch in the ancient world. Accusations of magic could carry the death penalty or, at the very least, marginalize the person or group they targeted. But Stratton moves beyond the popular view of these accusations as mere slander. In her view, representations and accusations of sorcery mirror the complex struggle of ancient societies to define authority, legitimacy, and Otherness. Stratton argues that the concept "magic" first emerged as a discourse in ancient Athens where it operated part and parcel of the struggle to define Greek identity in opposition to the uncivilized "barbarian" following the Persian Wars. The idea of magic then spread throughout the Hellenized world and Rome, reflecting and adapting to political forces, values, and social concerns in each society. Stratton considers the portrayal of witches and magicians in the literature of four related periods and cultures: classical Athens, early imperial Rome, pre-Constantine Christianity, and rabbinic Judaism. She compares patterns in their representations of magic and analyzes the relationship between these stereotypes and the social factors that shaped them. Stratton's comparative approach illuminates the degree to which magic was (and still is) a cultural construct that depended upon and reflected particular social contexts. Unlike most previous studies of magic, which treated the classical world separately from antique Judaism, Naming the Witch highlights the degree to which these ancient cultures shared ideas about power and legitimate authority, even while constructing and deploying those ideas in different ways. The book also interrogates the common association of women with magic, denaturalizing the gendered stereotype in the process. Drawing on Michel Foucault's notion of discourse as well as the work of other contemporary theorists, such as Homi K. Bhabha and Bruce Lincoln, Stratton's bewitching study presents a more nuanced, ideologically sensitive approach to understanding the witch in Western history.

More than 95 percent of the psalms express or invite audible words. This book will inform, equip, and inspire you to proclaim prayers that spread the gospel. We are living in times of great discrimination against the message of the church. Special interest groups boldly stand on platforms and speak out in ways much like Goliath did when he mocked the armies of the Lord. The generals of that time hid and were afraid to speak out, but we must learn from their mistake. God is recruiting voices from the wilderness of the America we live in today to stand and speak truth in love. The general attitude of many people is that prayer should be offered up only in the privacy of sanctuaries or the seclusion of prayer closets. This book defies that idea. As others are boldly coming out of the closet for whatever they are passionate about, so should believers! We know that there is life and death in the power of the tongue. We also know God’s people perish for a lack of knowledge. Pray Out Loud not only informs and trains readers; it also equips them with prayers and declarations so they can intercede with power. This book encourages Christians to refuse to be silenced and instead to become violent interrupters who stand in the gap and with loud voices proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Trains and equips you to overcome intimidation and receive impartation to intercede with power Includes declarations and decrees for intercession and spiritual warfare
