Sensor By: Kevin Pierce and Alvino Hernandez Mark Englander, orphaned in childhood, was adopted and raised by the founder of the Englander Institute, a prestigious mental health facility in New Mexico. He is a troubled genius who lives and works at the Institute providing valuable services to patients and staff. But Mark’s troubles take on the form of horrible hallucinations, making him a form of a patient himself. He uses his incredible brilliance to try to prove his hallucinations are real. With the death of Dr. Englander, a new hospital administrator, Dr. Jacob Tanner, takes over running the Institute. From the beginning, Dr. Tanner is at odds with both Mark and the facility staff. He sees Mark’s residency at the Institute as a threat to his authority and decides to use Mark’s psychiatric history to discredit him, and uses his authority as Director to force Mark to participate in a series of psychiatric procedures. This leads to a chain of events unleashing a violent destructive force on the hospital grounds. It is soon realized that what were believed to be Mark's hallucinations are in fact a reality. Government agencies and huge corporate interests, led by devious individuals, get involved. They use Mark and the Institute’s staff to explore and exploit what is classified as a phenomenon of unimaginable horror and destructive power.

In the early seventeenth century, the London stage often portrayed a ruler covertly spying on his subjects. Traditionally deemed 'Jacobean disguised ruler plays', these works include Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, Marston's The Malcontent and The Fawn, Middleton's The Phoenix, and Sharpham's The Fleer. Commonly dated to the arrival of James I, these plays are typically viewed as synchronic commentaries on the Jacobean regime. Kevin A. Quarmby demonstrates that the disguised ruler motif actually evolved in the 1580s. It emerged from medieval folklore and balladry, Tudor Chronicle history and European tragicomedy. Familiar on the Elizabethan stage, these incognito rulers initially offered light-hearted, romantic entertainment, only to suffer a sinister transformation as England awaited its ageing queen's demise. The disguised royal had become a dangerously voyeuristic political entity by the time James assumed the throne. Traditional critical perspectives also disregard contemporary theatrical competition. Market demands shaped the repertories. Rivalry among playing companies guaranteed the motif's ongoing vitality. The disguised ruler's presence in a play reassured audiences; it also facilitated a subversive exploration of contemporary social and political issues. Gradually, the disguised ruler's dramatic currency faded, but the figure remained vibrant as an object of parody until the playhouses closed in the 1640s.

One of the central arguments of post-metaphysical theology is that language is inherently 'metaphysical' and consequently that it shoehorns objects into predetermined categories. Because God is beyond such categories, it follows that language cannot apply to God. Drawing on recent work in theology and philosophy of language, Kevin Hector develops an alternative account of language and its relation to God, demonstrating that one need not choose between fitting God into a metaphysical framework, on the one hand, and keeping God at a distance from language, on the other. Hector thus elaborates a 'therapeutic' response to metaphysics: given the extent to which metaphysical presuppositions about language have become embedded in common sense, he argues that metaphysics can be fully overcome only by defending an alternative account of language and its application to God, so as to strip such presuppositions of their apparent self-evidence and release us from their grip.

Kevin sat quietly in the two-man cell. His new cellmate was trying to whip up support among his inmate friends to "do something" about his new cellmate-me. This was definitely not going well. I could almost "feel" an assault or a knife attack coming. I made a decision. If I was going to die in prison, then I would take myself out rather than let some self-righteous, low-brow punk(s) do it. I could fight-the Army had trained me well-but how many would come at me? Would there be weapons? I quietly wrote a letter home and explained what I was going to do. After that, I placed the thirty-day supply of Atenolol in my pocket. Atenolol controls blood pressure by slowing your heart rate. If things went badly, I would take all of them at once- hopefully stopping my heart with a minimum of pain. I also spoke silently with God. I told Him, "If I have to do this, please don't send me to hell. I sincerely believe Lord that the guilt of this sin should be given to this animal, Doherty." This event was survived. There was a long road ahead. From false accusation to trial to false imprisonment then probation, this is a story of defeat and survival that nothing could prepare a person for.
