Suit up for the ultimate fight There’s a terrifying truth facing today’s men, and it’s caught many off guard. But once that first overwhelming challenge hits, the reality about evil becomes clear: Every one of us is in a fight for our lives. The enemy is real–and so is the danger. But powerful forces convince us to ignore the spiritual war surrounding us. And that willing surrender ensures the total destruction of all we hold dear. But a new generation of God’s men is beginning to engage with the tools and training to take the fight to the enemy and respond with boldness and duty. This book is the manual for recognizing the deceptions about doing true spiritual battle, realizing the roles men play at the front lines, and rescuing the captives from the enemy’s stronghold. “It’s been said that all evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Kenny excels at showing the bigger story we’re engaged in. Fight is a must read for men to defeat the enemy where each of us live–in our marriages, our families, and all our spheres of influence.” --Jim Weidmann, “The Family Night Guy,” senior vp of Promise Keepers, and author of the Family Night Tool Chest series. The call has been issued, but the decision is yours. Will you suit up, get in the battle, and fight? Look for the Fight Workbook– a hands-on guide for personal or group study!
Do you dare let Jesus take control of your life? Predictability. Control. Safety. Comfort. Jesus challenges God’s man to throw all those words out the window. Because, when it comes to your faith, all the energy spent eliminating risk from your life actually becomes a barrier to progress in your spiritual journey. Jesus said, “If you try to keep your life for yourself you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake…you will find true life” (Mark 8:35). There really is no such thing as the “safe life” when you are committed to Christ–when you seek to become God’s man. Instead, Jesus personally challenges you to bet your life totally on him. Risk is for men who are ready to go to the next level in their faith–and ready to say goodbye to playing it safe when it comes to radically trusting their Savior. Look for the Risk Workbook– a hands-on guide for personal or group study!
You’ve already been set free by Christ. When are you going to start experiencing that freedom? What does it look like when a man lives out a truly authentic, loving walk with Jesus Christ? It looks like freedom. The Apostle Paul, a man made new by the gospel of Jesus Christ, presents one of the clearest images of the godly man in action. He’s committed to a life of faith, focused on the Spirit instead of the flesh, set free to love others. No longer focused on himself, he demonstrates his faith by serving others. You can be that kind of man by claiming your freedom in Christ. Being God’s man means being set free to exemplify Christ’s love. Being God’s Man by Claiming Your Freedom will stimulate personal reflection and honest dialogue with God and other men. The goal is that you will strive to be God’s man in every way–feeling his heart for others, and doing his will obediently and joyfully. This book examines the role of deceptive tactics in the criminal victimization process, showing how various forms of manipulative aggression can help disguise dangerous advances. The author approaches crime victimization as the final stage in a purposeful, predictable, dynamic, and progressively dangerous process involving interactions between the target and the aggressor. As they prepare for the attack, aggressors may attempt to distract, confuse, and reduce target resistance. While these tactics provide aggressors certain advantages, they can be recognized, anticipated, and managed. By presenting a framework to identify behaviors of concern early in the process, Kenny shows how preventative action can be taken. Proactive intervention may cause aggressors to withdraw before they are fully committed to and confident in their ability to be successful. Those who take steps to reduce vulnerabilities, limit risky behaviors, and avoid dangerous situations can help prevent themselves from being victimized.

In 1968, during a forty hour period, the Air Force flew 189 sorties to rescue a Navy A-7 pilot, call sign Streetcar 304, in one of the largest rescue efforts of the Vietnam War. Before it ended, four pilots had ejected, seven planes were lost or heavily damaged, and, at one point, seven airmen awaited rescue behind enemy lines. Streetcar 304 now provides his personal narrative about the event. On his very first combat mission, Fields catapulted off the USS America, flew to Laos, dropped his bombs in the midst of an enemy trap and was shot down. Streetcar describes his last tearful farewell night at home with his wife, his tracer ridden bomb runs and a last moment ejection. Cringe when he describes being shot at while floating down in his parachute. Ride along in the cockpit of two rescue pilots as enemy tracers zoom upward and shoot each one down. Feel your heart skip a beat as Streetcar and one Air Force pilot separately evade numerous close encounters with Phatet Lao guerillas, are nearly killed time and again by friendly bombs, and deal with the stress of jungle animals and lack of sleep. Suffer with his wife when she receives word that he is down, fate unknown, and then describes her own forty hours of suspense. Relate to the pilots who are ordered to make one final rescue attempt. Shed a tear with Streetcar when one rescuer is captured by the enemy. Experience the final harrowing rescue attempt during which Fields is wounded by a friendly bomb.
Kenny Dalglish's relationship with Liverpool Football Club is one of the great love stories of sport. From the moment he first set foot in the Anfield dressing room nervously asking for autographs while having a trial at the club, Dalglish felt a passion for Liverpool stir within him. After joining from Celtic in 1977, the supremely gifted striker was embraced by Liverpool fans, for the goals and the glory, and most especially for the three European Cups. The Kop's adoration of King Kenny has never ebbed. Every game, they still sing his name. Liverpool fans have never forgotten how Dalglish held the club together through two tragedies, the first at the Heysel stadium in Brussels in 1985 and then at Hillsborough in 1989. Both disasters are explored at length and in emotional detail by Dalglish in My Liverpool Home. Eventually, for the sake of his health and his family, Dalglish resigned and Liverpool have not won the title since. Although Dalglish walked alone, away from Anfield, in his heart he never really left and has now finally returned, playing a pivotal role in this turbulent period in the club's history. My Liverpool Home is the story of Dalglish's epic love affair with Liverpool, tracing the highs and lows, the characters, the laughter, the triumphs and the many tears. For football fans, this revealing book about one of the game's greatest players is a must. For those fascinated by how a very private man suffered after very publicly supporting his community, Dalglish's emotional story makes compelling reading.
For the last ten years, I have spent between 4,000 to 5,000 hours on many Internet dating sites, looking for scammers. I have spoken with well over five hundred scam artists from Africa alone (and I have files on most of them). My goal in researching Internet scammers was to become an expert on their methods and on how to recognize the warning signs of a scam. This compiled research will enable people to detect a scam and ask the right questions to foil scammers from accomplishing their mission. I hope to save many people from the heart ache, embarrassment, and financial loss that result from these scams. It has been a tiring journey, exposing the methods of a scammer. My joy was found in wasting their time and asking them questions they simply couldn't answer. Find out how the trap works in Transcripts of an Internet Scammer.
This encyclopedia provides detailed information about the historical, cultural, social, religious, economic, and scientific significance of gold, across the globe and throughout history. Gold has been an intrinsic part of human culture and society throughout the world, both in ancient times and in the modern era. This precious metal has also played a central role in economics and politics throughout history. In fact, the value of gold remains a topic of debate amid the current upheavals of economic conditions and attendant reevaluations of modern financial principles. Gold: A Cultural Encyclopedia consists of more than 130 entries that encompass every aspect of gold, ranging from the ancient metallurgical arts to contemporary economies. The connections between these interdisciplinary subjects are explored and analyzed to highlight the many ways humankind's fascination with gold reflects historical, cultural, economic, and geographic developments. While the majority of the works related to gold focus on economic theory, this text goes beyond that to take a more sociocultural approach to the subject.
MLB Network host and commentator Brian Kenny uses stories from baseball's present and past to examine why we sometimes choose ignorance over information, and how tradition can trump logic, even when directly contradicted by evidence.

Country music legend Kenny Rogers teams up with Spur Award–winning author Mike Blakely for a rousing tale set in the heyday of Nashville in What Are the Chances. It's 1975, and Ronnie Breed's chart-topping rock band has just self-destructed in a recording studio fistfight. Ronnie makes a bold decision—return home to Texas and reinvent himself as a solo act. Enter Dan Campbell, Ronnie's cousin, who recruits Ronnie for a new kind of venture. Dan, who always had a penchant for wild schemes, wants to televise a Texas Hold 'Em tournament...and Ronnie could never say no to his cousin Dan. As celebrity spokesman for the poker tournament, Ronnie soon finds himself recruiting world-class gamblers in illegal card games while trying to put together a new country band and win a Nashville recording contract—not to mention trying to avoid falling head-over-heels in love with his new manager, Dorothy. But when things start to get weird—hidden cameras, secret high-stakes side-bets, a visit from the FBI—it seems that Dan's poker tournament may be a façade for something much bigger and much more dangerous. Ronnie begins to wonder if he will end up with the girl of his dreams in the Country Music Hall of Fame, or broke and lonely in some prison cell. What are the chances?
Sir Anthony Kenny continues his magisterial new history of Western philosophy with a fascinating guide through more than a millennium of thought from 400 AD onwards, charting the story of philosophy from the founders of Christian and Islamic thought through to the Renaissance. The middle ages saw a great flourishing of philosophy, and the intellectual endeavour of the era reaches its climax in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, with the systems of the great schoolmen such as Thomas Aquinas and John Duns Scotus. Specially written for a broad popular readership, but serious and deep enough to offer a genuine understanding of the great philosophers, Kenny's lucid and stimulating history will become the definitive work for anyone interested in the people and ideas that shaped the course of Western thought.
Since the 1960's here has been an extraordinary revival of old-time string band music in California, and indeed throughout the American West. Despite being born blind, Kenny Hall has been a mainstay of many fiddle festivals and of the Western fiddle and string band revival in general. Kenny's musical style is passionate and energetic. This book is a helpful guide to his vast repertoire learned through years of careful listening. It is also a wonderful addition to the fiddler's bookshelf and a fitting tribute to a man who, for many an aspiring fiddler, has been a friend, guide, exemplar, and patron. Many of the tunes includes nonsense lyrics that Kenny used to help him remember the melody, and each tune is accompanied by Kenny's comments. the book is divided into five chapters: fiddle- based tunes (Fiddle Faddle), mandolin-based tunes (Rags, Tags, and Wags), Waltzes, tunes from an origin other than the United States or the British Isles (Kenny's Rambles); and vocal-based pieces including lyrics (Songs, Ballads, Ditties). Some of the transcriptions are written primarily for fiddle or mandolin, but most tunes can be performed on either instrument. This deluxe guide to Kenny Hall's vast repertoire offers fans of old-time music a great way to get to know Kenny and his music.
They could teach him how To mix the mortar, And how to lay the stones, But If he didn’t know How to make the bricks, How could he call this Place his home.

This book is no less than a guide to the whole of Western philosophy—the ideas that have undergirded our civilization for two-and-a-half thousand years. Anthony Kenny tells the story of philosophy from ancient Greece through the Middle Ages and the Enlightenment into the modern world. He introduces us to the great thinkers and their ideas, starting with Plato, Aristotle, and the other founders of Western thought. In the second part of the book he takes us through a thousand years of medieval philosophy, and shows us the rich intellectual legacy of Christian thinkers like Augustine, Aquinas, and Ockham. Moving into the early modern period, we explore the great works of Descartes, Hobbes, Locke, Leibniz, Spinoza, Hume, and Kant, which remain essential reading today. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Hegel, Mill, Nietzsche, Freud, and Wittgenstein again transformed the way we see the world. Running though the book are certain themes which have been constant concerns of philosophy since its early beginnings: the fundamental questions of what exists and how we can know about it; the nature of humanity, the mind, truth, and meaning; the place of God in the universe; how we should live and how society should be ordered. Anthony Kenny traces the development of these themes through the centuries: we see how the questions asked and answers offered by the great philosophers of the past remain vividly alive today. Anyone interested in ideas and their history will find this a fascinating and stimulating read.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INTRIGUED BY AN OASIS. IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY HOT DESERT, AN ISOLATED AREA OF VEGITATION, SURROUNDED BY A BEAUTIFUL SPRING, PICTURES A GARDEN OF PARADISE. THIS OASIS IS SO IMPORTANT TO TRAVELLERS, SO THAT THEY CAN REPLINISH THEIR WATER SUPPLIES, AS THEY GO ABOUT THEIR JOURNIES. A SOURCE OF LIFE FOR MIGRATING BIRDS. IMAGINE, CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER, FORMED BY AN UNDERGROUND RIVER, IN THE MIDDLE OF SOME OF THE HOTTEST PLACES ON EARTH, WITH PALM TREES IN THE COOL SHADE. TO THIS, I BELIEVE THAT EVERY PERSON HAS THEIR OWN OASIS WITHIN THEMSELFS. SOMETIMES, WE JUST HAVE TO FIND IT. A PLACE THAT IS SO WAY OUT THERE, THAT SOMETIMES PEOPLE DONT WANT TO MAKE THAT JOURNEY, BCEAUSE IT IS EITHER TOO HARD TO GET TO, OR THEY DONT BELIEVE ITS WORTH THE EFFORT. I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN THAT PLACE OF BEAUTY. WHERE THE PUREST WATERS ARE SURROUNDED BY SHADES OF GREEN AND WHERE THIS PLACE IS AS IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE ELSE, AS IT IS TO ME. WHERE THE UNDERGROUND RIVERS WITHIN US, RISE UP TO MEET THE TASKS AT HAND. I HAVE SEEN THE WELL PAVED PATHS THAT HAVE LED TO PROMISED PALACES, BUT I WOULD RATHER TAKE THE WINDY DUNES OF THE SAND, TO MY AWAITING OASIS. Kenny Lord
