To mature spiritually, Christians need a place to develop and test their relationship with God, to reflect on the essential theological concepts that are part of the faith tradition, and to enjoy opportunities to serve others. These are the foundation stones of the rite of confirmation. --from the Introduction The Rite of Confirmation is an adult study guide that allows clergy, Christian educators, and lay leaders to discuss and explore how confirmation can open the door to a lifelong ministry of recognizing ways to grow in faith. Monkres and Ostermiller's groundbreaking research provides information on new approaches to the teaching and understanding of confirmation, and includes the authors' concept of confirmation as a repeatable rite. Existing models of confirmation are explored, leading to a discussion of the ways in which confirmation can be more meaningful in the church today.
As everyone who is considerate in compassions to living, I also am one of you. The ideals and thoughts accepting the realizations for becoming sincere of appreciations for all life are the virtues that shouldnt be ignored or forgotten. I have wishes that I too would have more control of angers and impatience to ones that break my tolerance. I do think that this modern age is of greatness but never changes the truth. Since the beginning of time, there are those who never realize the beauties and respects for others and of living for themselves in becoming this. And that noting is perfect, excepting maybe the thoughts and ideals of good. Somehow, the confusion generates, losing this picture from society and enterprise. I do believe that the majority of people all over this globe are born to love and believe in freedoms. Too bad our social levels, capitalism, even some cultures, hinder this effect. Common heritages in people are to smile and laugh. We live and put up with the shallow neglected concerns of some people. As the old saying, the rotten apple in the barrel spoils the bunch as well, with the idea that the bad ruins it for the good. So here we are in this life, coping and clinging to the company of friends that are good.
The authors allow students and faculty to speak in their own voices to tell the story of how teachers are prepared for their important roles as educators of the nation's children. This book provides in-depth, personal descriptions of how elementary teachers are prepared in six diverse schools and colleges of education, ranging from the program in a small liberal arts college to those embedded in major research-oriented universities. The richly woven descriptions (gained through intensive observations and interviews) provide a balanced picture of the situation and context of teacher education today. Howey and Zimpher conclude the descriptions with an insightful cross-institutional analysis of the problems and issues uncovered and suggest a provocative set of characteristics that appear to contribute to an effective program of teacher education.
