The best biography of Richard III that has been written."—A. L. Rowse, Chicago Tribune Paul Murray Kendall's masterful account of the life of England's King Richard III has remained the standard biography of this controversial figure.
Every gift has consequences . . . After the insanity that was my senior year in high school, my life is back to what passes for normal. No witches are trying to kill me. No preachers are threatening to drown me. I'm away at college with my boyfriend, and I'm learning to control my powers. Everything is finally perfect . . . until it isn't. When my new part-time job leads to more than I bargained for, I'm thrown into a deadly fight against forces of evil that I didn't even know existed. Mastering my extraordinary gifts--and drawing on the strength of an endless love--may be the only weapons that can guarantee my happily-ever-after. Save Tomorrow is a series of paranormal romances that begins in the small town of King, Florida, winds through the Serendipity and Recipe for Death books, and finally culminates in Age of Aquarius, the inevitable showdown that ties all the characters together in a fight to stop the ultimate evil.
The NHS came into existence in an atmosphere of conflict centred on the strong ideological commitment of the Post-war Labour Government and the opposition of the Conservative Party of that time to the idea of a universally available and centrally planned medical care service. There was also opposition from some sections of the medical establishment who feared the loss of professional autonomy. Setting health policy in both an historical and modern context (post 1997) Carrier and Kendall weigh up the successes and failures of the National Health Service and examine the conflicts which have continued for over sixty years, in spite of efforts to solve financial problems in the NHS through increases in funding as well as structural and organisational change. After looking at recent responses to supposed failures of the NHS, they conclude that the NHS has successfully faced the challenges before it and is likely to continue to meet the changing health needs of the population. Financial stresses, concerns about the quality of care and demographic change, with consequent issues for the elderly and the chronically ill, continue to be urgent and politically contentious issues. This book is appropriate for a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate students studying health policy and the NHS.
End-Times Prophecy and “The Last Days” invites people to explore end-times biblical prophecy and to open Revelation, the last book of the Bible. These sources reveal God’s will for individuals and his whole world. Kendall Brashears distills over three decades of dedicated study and presents it with the skill of a seasoned educator. His hard work has yielded an approachable guide to ancient and sometimes difficult texts, featuring verse-by-verse explanations of key passages. Through his prophetic research and years of teaching, Brashears will explore the following: – Are we living in the last days as described by the Bible? – What end-time events are we seeing in the world today? – Will the Rapture of believers precede the Tribulation, and if so, how will it occur and what will it look like? – Will we know who the Antichrist is before the Rapture and how will we recognize him? – If there is a seven-year Tribulation on earth, what will it be like and who will go through it? The answers to these questions and many more are discussed thoroughly in this study. If you have wondered what God has planned for his world, if you ask yourself whether distressing events signal the coming end of human history, or if you want to grow in your knowledge of the details contained in the Bible’s prophetic and apocalyptic passages, then End-Times Prophecy and “The Last Days” will serve you well as a tool for deepening your understanding. You will emerge from your experience with a breadth of knowledge that provides guidance both for recognizing the changes that are occurring in the world today and for clinging to the assurance of God’s plan for care and comfort in uncertain times.
Seek honor and praise from God and not people. This book will help you to stop being motivated by the approval of others and instead start living for the validation that comes from God alone. Respected author and theologian R. T. Kendall shares a profound revelation of the meaning of John 5:44, the scripture that has guided his life for more than sixty years. Early in his ministry the wise counsel of two mentors brought this scripture to light, and he has determined to live by it ever since. Now he passes on the same wise counsel to his readers. In For an Audience of One, Kendall explores what it means to truly live for Christ alone. Many Christians believe in God and claim that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, but sadly their actions betray them. They are more concerned about the approval of people. They avoid truly following God's leading or taking a bold stand for righteousness if they fear they might lose a friend. Because they are more worried about what people think than what God thinks, they miss out on what God is doing. It's time to learn what a life truly surrendered to God--and God alone--looks like. Readers can live the life He has purposed for them! They can stop being motivated by fear of others and addicted to their approval. For an Audience of One shows readers how to start living for the honor and praise that comes from God alone! Also Available in Spanish ISBN: 978-1-62999-313-3 OTHER BOOKS BY R. T. Richard III (2 October 1452 - 22 August 1485) was King of England from 1483 until his death in 1485 in the Battle of Bosworth Field. He was the last king of the House of York and the last of the Plantagenet dynasty. His defeat at Bosworth Field, the last decisive battle of the Wars of the Roses, marked the end of the Middle Ages in England. He is the subject of the fictional historical play Richard III by William Shakespeare. In 2012, an archaeological excavation was conducted on a city council car park using ground-penetrating radar on the site once occupied by Greyfriars, Leicester. The University of Leicester confirmed on 4 February 2013 that the skeleton found in the excavation is that of Richard III, based on the results of radiocarbon dating, a comparison with contemporary reports of his appearance, and a comparison of his mitochondrial DNA with that of two matrilineal descendants of Richard III's eldest sister, Anne of York.

How can we know God’s will if we don’t pray His prayer? After reading this book, you will understand the intricacies of the Lord’s Prayer and how it was designed to powerfully affect your relationship with the heavenly Father. No prayer is better known—or more misunderstood—than the prayer Jesus provided in His Sermon on the Mount. The words, though simple, can transform the way Christians pray and live. With remarkable insight, wisdom, and depth, respected theologian R. T. Kendall uncovers the transforming truths contained within each line of this familiar prayer, including the following: When and why to pray the Lord’s Prayer How to know and pray the will of God How unanswered prayer can be a sign of God’s favor How the Lord’s Prayer can be misused Why we should pray at all This book will give readers not only a model for prayer but also a revolutionary way to pray effectively while drawing closer to the Father.
The Gospel of John concisely captures volumes of thought and feeling in an original and bare-boned sketch. A slower unpacking of this narrative outline is powerfully compelling in presenting Jesus as the central figure in history whose supernatural life is the only explanation for the Gospel's existence and its global impact. The reader will see why John is considered by many to be the greatest literary work of all time, and why Jesus is the preeminent figure in literary and human history. For believer and unbeliever, it is important (and culturally relevant) to really grasp the one story and the one person who has captivated and changed the world more than any other.
In a sustained new reading of John Gower's major English poem, Confessio Amantis (1390-3), Elliot Kendall shows how deeply the great household shaped the way Gower and his contemporaries (including Chaucer, Clanvowe, chroniclers, and parliamentary petitioners) imagined their world.
A Nightmare on Elm Street. Halloween. Night of the Living Dead. These films have been indelibly stamped on moviegoers’ psyches and are now considered seminal works of horror. Guiding readers along the twisted paths between audience, auteur, and cultural history, author Kendall R. Phillips reveals the macabre visions of these films’ directors in Dark Directions: Romero, Craven, Carpenter, and the Modern Horror Film. Phillips begins by analyzing the works of George Romero, focusing on how the body is used cinematically to reflect the duality between society and chaos, concluding that the unconstrained bodies of the Living Dead films act as a critical intervention into social norms. Phillips then explores the shadowy worlds of director Wes Craven. In his study of the films The Serpent and the Rainbow, Deadly Friend, Swamp Thing, Red Eye, and Shocker, Phillips reveals Craven’s vision of technology as inherently dangerous in its ability to cross the gossamer thresholds of the gothic. Finally, the volume traverses the desolate frontiers of iconic director John Carpenter. Through an exploration of such works as Halloween, The Fog, and In the Mouth of Madness, Phillips delves into the director’s representations of boundaries—and the haunting consequences for those who cross them. The first volume ever to address these three artists together, Dark Directions is a spine-tingling and thought-provoking study of the horror genre. In analyzing the individual works of Romero, Craven, and Carpenter, Phillips illuminates some of the darkest minds in horror cinema.
