Taking a deep dive into the psycho-social complexities of the time, the narrative spans from the late nineteenth century to the beginning of the Dust Bowl, revealing how mental and physical abuse, social isolation, the privations of homesteading, strong dreams and even stronger personalities all factored into Read’s life and crimes.
