From award-winning author Katryn Bury of the Drew Leclair series, this hopeful coming-of-age middle grade novel follows the unlikely friendship between Sam, a recent cancer survivor, and a popular girl at school as they come together on a quest to uncover the truth about alien life in honor of Sam’s best friend’s final wishes. This powerful story of friendship and grief is a gentle reminder that we are never alone in the universe. Sam Kepler Greyson doesn’t want to be the “cancer kid.” After losing his best friend and fellow UFO enthusiast, Oscar, to brain cancer, Sam wants to focus on anything but his own cancer—maybe even a normal year of middle school. But whispers in the halls and lingering grief over Oscar make Sam’s return much harder. To make matters worse, he is paired with popular girl Cat for a history project. Between Cat’s icy attitude and troubling rumors that Sam lied about having cancer, nothing seems to be going well. Things start to look up when Cat and Sam unexpectedly bond over the UFO obsession he once shared with Oscar—but Sam isn’t sure he’s ready to open up to someone again. With the chance for a fresh start within reach, he worries that coming clean about his illness will only make Cat pity him. Hiding the truth also helps Sam avoid the biggest worry of all: What if his cancer comes back? “Bury writes about grief and being a survivor with honesty and humor in this captivating mystery that explores friendship and the power of believing.” —Jennifer Chambliss Bertman, New York Times bestselling author of the Book Scavenger series and Sisterhood of Sleuths “Katryn Bury is a master of middle grade voice. A quietly powerful novel.” —A. J. Sass, award-winning author of Ellen Outside the Lines and Ana on the Edge "A moving, humorous exploration of friendship and trust." —Kirkus Reviews

This book my sister and I have been working on, has been in the making since 1995. I am so glad to finally get it published. It accomplishes quite a dream... My sister got a cute little story idea in which I helped her to achieve a wonderful children's fantasy, about dragons and trolls, and a very special Man whom all of creation is linked. Here you will find monsters and fairies in a land full of mystical wonders. I have personally done all the artwork myself... Sharayah is the most beautiful of all the dragons, female or male. A Man appears to her one day and teaches her how to sing. She then in return teaches the other dragons. But Sharayah will find that it is more than just physical beauty and strength that makes her strong. Will she find the courage to confront the menacing Drumin, Troll King, before he takes everything away from her,and will it be too late for her to change?
This is a book about pirates and goofy animal-like characters. It's about one such pirate, Lasimer Casper Johnny, who is sentenced to live the rest of his days marooned on an island with a pig-like people tribe. They want to eat him, he wants to eat one of them. There are also rocks and trees that talk. Come meet Ariel and Professor Shank who accidentally find their way to this place where the pirate lives. Something happens where Lasimer believes Ariel is a witch bent on sending his soul to Hades. They get plunged into a nightmare dimension that plops them right into the clutches of the evil tyrant Zartharyos. This is the perfect book for children who just love pirate adventures... NOTE: The character Zartharyos in this story can also be found in another book: Galactic Pioneers, for any science-fiction loving child, or adult too for that matter.
