Napoleon the poodle plays host to a menagerie of animals who have been invited to "ride out" the hurricane at his house. While his man is busy taking care of the people guests, the poodle is organizing the animals. They follow the advice of "The Old One," an ancient Siamese cat who sits under the garden shed and watches. She has told them to "stick together and take care of each other." These friends unite and survive a very scary ordeal, and they have all sorts of adventures during the long night.
All the animals in this book are real, and the unnamed people who brought them to Napoleon's house are very kind and caring. They work tirelessly to rescue and care for homeless animals.
