He is upset because he has no control over the weather and cannot stop the rain. After much complaining and self-pity he remembers words he read in the school library that totally changed his attitude to one of acceptance and he is inspired to find a positive way to spend the rainy day. This transformation will enable him to solve future problems that will surely come to pass.
