Barney is a yellow tabby cat that lives on a farm. He is a bit mean and definitely temperamental. He spends most of his time in the safety of the barn, especially the loft. There, his hated enemy can’t reach him—that no-good, dirty varmint Sampson. But Sampson, the Australian shepherd farm dog, finds his opportunities. The hyperactive dog gets on every nerve that the poor tabby has and loves every second of it. Sampson is never happier than when he has outwitted Barney. In this story, Barney lets down his guard when his hungry stomach distracts his common sense, and he forgets. He forgets about the thorn in his side, the bur under his saddle, the gnat in his face...he forgets about Sampson. Read about the crazy antics of these two farm animals and the poor farmer, Jim, who gets caught in the middle in this story of Barney the Barn Cat.
Kayser and Scott have written an excellent manual for mental health practitioners who care for women with cancer. Despite extensive research, policies, and practical efforts to improve college readiness in the United States, a large proportion of low-income students remain unprepared to enter and succeed in higher education. This issue draws on the human ecology theory of Urie Bronfenbrenner (1917–2005) to offer a fresh perspective that accounts for the complexity of the interacting personal, organizational, and societal factors in play. Ecological principles shift the focus to individual differences in the ways that students engage environments and to the connections across students’ immediate settings and relationships. Viewing college readiness within an ecological system also reveals how the settings where development occurs are in turn shaped by more distant environments. The aspirations and behaviors that affect students’ college preparation originate in opportunities, resources, and hazards beyond their immediate environments. The ecological lens illuminates the need for coordinated, comprehensive efforts that affect students across the various levels of their environment and provides a framework for advancing college readiness research, policy, and educational practice. This is the 5th issue of the 38th volume of the Jossey-Bass series ASHE Higher Education Report. Each monograph is the definitive analysis of a tough higher education issue, based on thorough research of pertinent literature and institutional experiences. Topics are identified by a national survey. Noted practitioners and scholars are then commissioned to write the reports, with experts providing critical reviews of each manuscript before publication.

Christian Education is part of the vital ministry of all churches, but especially of small membership churches. In a culture that places great value on numbers, small membership churches often mistakenly see themselves at a disadvantage. Small membership churches can create wonderful opportunities to form and disciple faithful followers of Jesus Christ. In offering viable Christian Education, the role of the pastor is critical. This book invites pastors to lead their small membership churches to develop an imaginative and holistic vision of Christian Education. Read the Introduction
Ironically, after continually engaging in rigorous research on the topic of clergy sexual misconduct and abuse, another hideous sex scandal of an alleged religious cult leader was exposed on social media by gospel recording artist Vicki Yohe. While it is untrue that the president has returned Jesus to the White House, thankfully, God is revealing his truth about the narcissistic men who are master manipulators of evil deeds that destroy lives, specifically women’s. As a matter of fact, I feel that this perverted spirit is invading society from the White House (Trump), to the church house (Taylor), to the world (RKelly). How can I help in the destruction of these works of iniquity? How can I become another voice to sound the alarm in these vile, violent acts of sexual misconduct and abuse? As I prayed and inquired to God, while agonizing over the magnitude of this calamity, my doctoral dissertation became the birthing process of this book. This is a good place to publicly thank the cofounder / vice president / CEO of the Hope of Survivors, Samantha Nelson, for being a very active participant during my research plan. When she immediately agreed to write the foreword for this book, I was confident that the timing was right. A couple of days later, as budgeting was my next concern, my spiritual mother unexpectedly wrote the Twin Ministries a check that was enough to cover half of the cost of funding the publishing expense. I instantly interrupted the flow of working on other forthcoming projects to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. Hence, I pray that this book will have a profound impact on the body of Christ by bringing pastoral accountability to its leaders, public awareness to the community, and personal amendments to victims and their families. To say the least, the church must not only deal with salvation and deliverance; as a community, we must perpetuate prevention and intervention! No more silence of the lamb! Thus, if you are part of the remnant of believers whom God is raising to be a new example of irreproachable transparency and integrity in business, ministry, and marriage, please share, share, and share!
In their third book, the authors forge through the mountains of Mexico and the deserts of the American Southwest in celebration of the strength and wonder of adobe design style. 195 photos, 175 in color.
