The daughter of a disgraced earl, she matched wits with a prince. It is the fourteenth century, the height of the Medieval Age, and at the court of King Edward III of England, chivalry is loudly praised while treachery runs rampant. When the lovely and high-spirited Joan of Kent is sent to this politically charged court, she is woefully unprepared for the underhanded maneuverings of her peers. Determined to increase the breadth of his rule, the king will use any means necessary to gain control of France—including manipulating his own son, Edward, Prince of Wales. Joan plots to become involved with the prince to scandalize the royal family, for she has learned they engineered her father’s downfall and death. But what begins as a calculated strategy soon—to Joan’s surprise—grows into love. When Joan learns that Edward returns her feelings, she is soon fighting her own, for how can she love the man that ruined her family? And, if she does, what will be the cost? Filled with scandal, court intrigue, and prominent figures of the Medieval Age, The First Princess of Wales has at its center a wonderful love story, which is all the more remarkable because it is true. Karen Harper’s compelling, fast-paced novel tells the riveting tale of an innocent girl who marries a prince and gives birth to a king.

Norway received its name from the nearby rural community of settlers from Norway in the area known as the Fox River Settlement. The village was the center of Norwegian immigration dating to 1834. The settlers had in large part relocated from the Kendall Settlement in New York State which had been founded earlier by pioneers who arrived from Norway during 1825 aboard the Restauration. Norwegian-American pioneer leader Cleng Peerson founded this second settlement in the Fox River Valley of Illinois.
In which the beginning of the government of Benençuela is written, and who were the first Spaniards who began it. I have not found the clarity that I wanted about the discovery and first settlement of the government of Benençuela and it was fair so that the relationship and news that I wrote about this government would be complete and more accurate to the taste of the readers, because I understand that our successors and historians who will succeed us in the coming centuries will not cease to be disgusting with this defect. But they may believe that it is not my fault, because I have certainly put the diligence to my best to find out very well, and I have only found that in the year one thousand four hundred and ninety-eight, on the third trip that Don Cristoval Columbus made the Indies, when heading through the mouths of the Drago, which are made between the island of Trinidad and Tierra Firme, he came to Cumana and Cubagua Island, where he found the pearl fisheries, and skirting all that coast Towards the West he discovered as far as Cabo de la Vela, where there was also a pearl fishery; In this navigation and discovery he entered the entire coast of Venençuela, which is from the port and province of Caracas to the Maracaybo lagoon.

This study is concerned with the structure of verb phrases in English and Spanish, and with syntactic processes involving VP and Vo. A primary focus of attention is auxiliary verbs. It is argued that the structure dominating these verbs is essentially the same in English and Spanish, as is the structure dominating auxiliaries and 'main' verbs in each language. It must be concluded that the occurrence of distinct syntactic processes affecting auxiliaries and other VP constituents in the two languages does not follow from parametrization of phrase structure. It is argued that similarities between the two languages with respect to the composition of so-called "V*" constructions derive from the fact that VP is licensed under both clauses of the Principle of Full Interpretation, i. e. , predication and sub categorization. Distinct syntactic processes in English and Spanish are argued to follow from the fact that there are inflectional features related to each of these licensing conditions (including specification for [ ± PAST) and nominal person/number features) which affect government relations in distinct ways, resulting in parametrization of S-structure representa tions. xi ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I wish to express my appreCiatIOn to the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Washington for support for preparation of the final manuscript, and to the Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at the University of Virginia for a leave during which much of this research was accomplished.

When the Rapture occurs, the entire world will be in a state of panic. The ones left who will have the answers to what is really happening, according to the Bible, will be the ones preoccupied with their own challenges and not so eager to explain what they know out of fear of being captured, persecuted, or executed for their faith in God. Christians will turn into a self–sufficient society because of an inability to buy, sell, or trade, which will result from them refusing the 666 Mark of the Beast. The government will become so big that most people will depend on it and will blame the chaos on the disappearances of Christians. That will fuel the hatred of the ungodly toward the Christians. This book provides hope, according to the teachings of Jesus, to the people who remain after the Rapture. Even when God turns His back on this world, it will not be too late to come to Him, although time will be running out. Some people will successfully find ways to survive in the last days. It will be quite a survival game. Those who have it figured out will use Revelation as a guide to prepare themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. I hope to paint a picture of what the world might look like in a fictional sense so that people can have hope for their future, know what to expect, and know that God still loves every one of us. He wants no man to perish. He came so that we may have life abundantly. What will that mean for the ones left behind?

In this compelling, emotionally complex novel, a college friendship sparks a life-changing sacrifice that connects two women forever--even as it shatters their closeness . . . “Let her go. I’ll stay.” There are some decisions you can never unmake. You can only atone for them—or try to. During her senior year of college, Clare Michaels takes a spring break trip to Florida with three other girls, including her best friend, Lee. She’s hoping for adventure and a few stories to share back at school. Instead, a string of bad choices leads to a horrific encounter, and Lee offers herself up so that Clare can escape. In the weeks and months that follow that fateful incident, Lee, once so dynamic and ambitious, flounders and withdraws. Clare was the only person to whom she’d ever confided about her troubled past. For Clare, that role felt like an honor—until it became a burden. Now she’s trying to make amends for her momentary selfishness by taking care of Lee—just as she’s been taking care of her high-strung mother, whose bestselling novel has been both windfall and curse. Years pass, circumstances change, and contact between Clare and Lee ebbs and flows, but the events of that night in Florida are impossible to escape. They keep dragging Clare back—forcing her to confront what really happened, and her part in it, in hopes of untangling guilt from loyalty and earning forgiveness at last . . . “I'll Stay is a heart-pounding, addictive portrait of how one split-second choice can twist our whole lives—and how the patterns of our lives lead us to those choices. A smart, compassionate, psychological spellbinder of a book—with one of the scariest scenes you'll read anywhere that'll stay with you forever!” --Jenna Blum, New York Times bestselling author of Those Who Save Us and The Stormchasers
