Students should know their rights and liberties, and they need to be better informed and better equipped about how to assert and defend these precious things. The protectors of students' rights and liberties--those faculty, administrators, parents, alumni, friends, citizens, advisors, and attorneys who care about such vital matters--should understand the threats to freedom and legal equality on campuses, the moral and legal means of combating those threats, and the acquired experience of recent years. To that end, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) offers this "Guide to Due Process and Fair Procedure on Campus," part of a series of such guides designed to restore individual rights and the values of a free society to the nation's colleges and universities. These guides also should remind those who write, revise, and enforce campus policies of the legal and moral constraints that restrict their authority. The sooner that colleges and universities understand their legal and moral obligations to a free and decent society, the less need there will be for guides such as these. Appended are: (1) The First, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments; and (2) Cases.

Everything Is Symbolic is a compilation of blog posts—366 of them, to be exact. So it’s also a devotional. I grew up reading and listening to the King James Version of the Bible. Alongside this, I developed a seriously fluid imagination and mind (what with all the emergent media of the eighties). If I hadn’t had the former, the latter would have driven me mad as the inevitable “storms of life” came to me during my twenties. Herein are the distilled thoughts in the wake of those events, presented one day, one thought at a time.
If God is good, then why did he do that? Violent wars, harsh laws, pronounced judgments. Christianity proclaims God’s goodness, yet the Bible is filled with passages that seem to paint a different picture. On the surface, such depictions can hinder our confidence in God’s goodness. But when we’re willing to look deeper, we discover a consistent purpose behind everything God does—and that he is greater than we could ever imagine. Alongside bestselling author Josh McDowell, Matthew Tingblad invites you to discover how a good God has good reasons for his challenging actions in the Bible. Throughout, you will uncover the reality of God’s consistent motives and purposes: holiness, justice, and radical mercy. Whether you have your own questions about God or are ministering to those who do, Matthew and Josh will guide you through these difficult passages and ideas, all the while pointing to God’s power and redeeming love. Find confidence and joy in discovering that God is good—always good—even in the passages of Scripture that appear to convey otherwise.
