El de Ridley Scott es, en principio, un caso poco común en la historia del cine. Su filmografía (con 23 títulos, hasta el momento) cuenta con dos obras, "Alien, el octavo pasajero" (1979) y "Blade Runner" (1982), cuya fama, éxito y calidad artística han superado e, incluso, sobrepasado a su propio director. Nos encontramos ante una carrera amplia y variada, con algunos altibajos y alguna que otra obra poco acertada, pero que, en líneas generales, nos presenta a uno de los directores más personales e interesantes del cine contemporáneo. Ya por sí sola esta dicotomía lo hace, a nuestro entender, un cineasta absolutamente relevante a la hora de adentrarnos en su cine con la intención de analizarlo en profundidad y darle forma a este estudio sobre su obra.
Aunque sólo les separan 14 años de edad, Robert Zemeckis es, sin duda, el más aventajado de los discípulos de Steven Spielberg. Autor de una de las trilogías más famosas de la historia del cine («Regreso al futuro»), de una obra emblemática del cine de animación («¿Quién engañó a Roger Rabbit?») y de una de las más importantes películas de la década de los noventa («Forrest Gump»), durante los últimos años de su carrera se embarcó en una muy desigual y algo decepcionante aventura digital («Polar Express», «Beowulf» y «Cuento de Navidad») que, sin embargo, no lo ha desacreditado como una de las más grandes figuras del cine contemporáneo. Este libro es una buena prueba de ello.

The existence of a early Spanish translation of Erasmus’s Encomium Moriae has been matter of speculation and unsuccessful research for over a century. This volume offers for the first time the edition of a seventeenth-century manuscript discovered at Ets Haim/Livraria Montezinos (Amsterdam) by its editors. They demonstrate that it is not only the first known early modern Spanish translation of Erasmus’s chef-d’œuvre, but a copy of a much earlier version, composed in mid-sixteenth century. This scholarly edition has been arranged for an easy textual collation with the canonical edition (ASD IV: 3) and translation (CWE 27) of Erasmus’s Praise of Folly and includes an extensive apparatus of footnotes devoted both to this version and to Erasmus’s Moriae Encomium itself.
This is the first English translation of one of the most important treatises written during the late-Middle Ages in defense of converts from Judaism, favoring religious tolerance in the face of religious and racially motivated prejudice and violence. This book discusses the impact of climate change on rural forest areas. It analyses data provided by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) to not only demonstrate that climate change has occurred in Portuguese forests, but also to suggest how forestry practices can be adapted to minimise its effects.
