Your author decided to write this book about Prostate Cancer when one of his best friends suffered from this disease. He took extensive chemotherapy which extended his life, but made living difficult. His body was saying make me live longer, but his mind was saying I should die, living is too painful to continue. His mind finally won-out and he died. This book used Internet to learn about the symptoms of Prostate Cancer and the latest therapies used to extend the life span of people suffering from this cancer. One promising technology is the use of Nanocells which are injected in the patient's blood stream. These nanocells seek out the cancer cells and destroy them, thus curing the patient. I learned studying Nanotechnology research for another book that people investigating the applications of Nanocells had injected such synthesized cells into mice and the cells had sought out the cancer cells and destroyed them, thus curing the mice. If Bioscience researchers can do the same thing for humans, then there is hope for eradicating Prostate Cancer.
Your author decided to write this book about Dynamics of Chemical Bonding after receiving an email from Caltech sent to alumni interested in various research activities taking place on campus at the California Institute of Technology. This subject caught my attention since I am interested in expanding my knowledge about science topics that could have a large impact on technology of the 21st Century. A technique called electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) is useful for mapping the electronic structural changes that occur as molecules bond with each other. But it isn't fast enough to catch the action as it is happening-on the attosecond (one quintillionth of a second) or femtosecond (one quadrillionth of a second) timescale. By applying their 4D electron microscopy technique to EELS, Ahmed Zewail and his colleagues have revealed the dynamic structural changes in a sample of graphite as it is compressed to form diamond. The technique, dubbed FEELS, offers resolution 10 orders of magnitude greater than the standard EELS method.
Your author attended an Alumni Seminar day in 2013 at USC (University of Southern California) where he had received his PhD and taught as an adjunct assistant Professor in Computer science. He received two lectures in person, but both lectures could have been sent by internet as part of Global Education. In that way registered students worldwide could have received the same lectures either in realtime or downloaded using encoded files. Both of these USC lectures were of fascinating topics, but such lectures could be made on a large number of subjects spread out over time to satisfy the requirements of the University in which the student is enrolled. The purpose of this book is to describe how the Internet age requires a vast revision of the University Education System on a global basis. The book will give information on things that can be done and how to do these things to achieve Global Education. Global education means the students can live anywhere and can be enrolled in Universities anywhere and be lectured by the best. One could postulate that, for example, the university of the future will have no library because students will carry it in their pockets; and that there will be no classes, as adaptive, interactive, computer-taught sessions will have taken their place. Lectures will be provided, courtesy of distance learning, by a few world-class professors located around the globe. Your author became aware of Optogenetics Research when he received a Caltech Associates invitation to attend an evening lecture by Viviana Gradinaru, Professor of Biology at Caltech, on this subject. The description of Optogenetics is given below:Optogenetics is a neuromodulation technique employed in behavioral neuroscience that uses a combination of techniques from optics and genetics to control the activity of individual neurons in living tissue—even within freely-moving animals—and to precisely measure the effects of those manipulations in real-time. It was developed by Karl Deisseroth and his colleagues at Stanford University in 2006. Optogenetics is known for the high spatial and temporal resolutions that it provides, which allow for observation of individual neurons over a time course of milliseconds, but is primarily famous for its ability to precisely alter the activity of specific brain areas without directly affecting a subject's behavior.In 2010 Karl Deisseroth was awarded the inaugural HFSP Nakasone Award "for his pioneering work on the development of optogenetic methods for studying the function of neuronal networks underlying behavior."In 2010, optogenetics was chosen as the Method of the Year across all fields of science and engineering by the interdisciplinary research journal Nature Methods (Primer on Optogenetics, Editorial Commentary). Every 3rd Friday of each month, the Monthly options expire. Therefore, on the second Friday of the month, there is only a week left in the trading month, so all stock options become weekly options. So you may select the best of all the stocks for the weekly Condor to open on the Friday or Monday before the 3rd Friday. I should point out that almost every week the SPY condors become best using %Return on Margin as the metric. I use TradeKing as a broker for two reasons: * Their commissions are the lowest of the brokers I know about. * Their website is automated so placing the Condor or other Type Option orders is easy to do. The attempts for the Current Administration to get their programs enacted through Congress or by Administrative Directives for items they consider important enough to be enforced when Congress will not approve the item lead to great instability in the Stock Market. It is now simple to see on Internet the Washington DC machinations between the President and the Republican House of Representatives Chairman. I (your author) lived in Spain for 20 years before returning to California. In Spain I leaned to trade Index Options from a NY expert whose strategy was to sell Call Options 2 standard deviations (2sig) above the market and sell Put Options 2 sig below the market. After returning to California I continued Index options trading using Standard & Poor's 500 (SPX) Index and using Condors. Being an Options Trader using the CBOE (Chicago Board of Exchange), I find the inability in Washington to avoid the automatic spending cuts made Wall Street nervous which affected the weekly options prices. I attended the Caltech Seminar Day on 16th May 09 and heard a lecture: Quantum Information Science presented by Professor J Preskill. His lecture had a number of slides showing how the three dimensions of Quantum states function. He mentioned Quantum Computers as the next step in computer science from the classical transistor based digital computers which have made such a change in the life of modern day humans. Since I have a deep interest in computer science based on my professional experience: designing Avionics systems for military aircraft which were the first to use digital computers, Teaching Computer Science as an adjunct assistant professor to graduate students, Designing and fabricating small digital computers in a small company I decided I needed to learn about Quantum Computers and where research is going in this important new technology. The way I discovered the status of Quantum Computer is using the Google & Yahoo search engines. I was happy that Indiana University and Caltech have active Quantum Computer Research programs in progress. The US and the World financial systems collapsed in the Fall of 2008 which caused the US Treasury to initiate bailouts for several major US corporations. The US Fed lowered the interest rates to zero %. The US Congress and Treasury provided bailouts to prevent corporations such as GM, AIG and banks from collapse. A big chunk of AIG's payments, $22.4 billion of $118.4 billion, was made to Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs (GS Quote), Bank of America (BAC Quote), Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley (MS Quote), as well as to foreign banks like Societe Generale, Deutsche Bank (DB Quote) and Barclays (BCS Quote). These firms bought Credit Default Swaps (CDS) from the insurer. CDSs insure counterparties against major losses on debt investments. As the value of those investments declined, AIG was obligated to provide collateral payments to the firms that purchased CDS. This worsened the economic decline. The OEX S&P 100 index fell from 560.90 on 25-September-2008 to 411.90 on 27-October-2008, a drop of 149 points, or 26.5% in one month. This was the October 2008 stock market collapse. During this same period my OEX weekly options trading capital went from $4,242 to $6,189, or an increase of $1,948, or 45.9%. In other words, when the stock market fell by 26% the weekly option trading value rose by 45.9%. I want to show the reader how to trade OEX weekly Options. These weekly options open on Friday to expire the following Friday. Chapter 2 details the easy to use Weekly Option trading strategies.
Your author decided to write this book about Microrobots after seeing a news release by MIT about their research on Microrobots. Microrobots and other microelectronic devices were enabled by Nanotechnology first introduced by Professor Richard P Feynman who was a professor at Caltech while your author was a physics student earning the BS in physics there between 1947 and 1951. I started studying the pioneering research of Dr. Feynman after being reminded of his famous lecture titled: There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom. This discourse was presented at an American Physical Society meeting at Caltech on December 29, 1959. Dr. Feynman considered the possibility of direct manipulation of individual atoms as a more powerful form of synthetic chemistry than the techniques being used at that time. This became nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has made possible the many things we see in electronics now: the chips used in PCs, the advent of Laptop computers, mobile devices or Smart Phones such as Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone and Tablet Computers such as the Toshiba Thrive Tablet. And now the latest nanotechnology devices exemplified by Microrobots. These tiny devices will allow things to be done in the near future that could not be done before. This book will tell you about what is known about Microrobots at the end of 2013.

Your author was chief engineer on the Avionics for the F111 fighter aircraft which was the first military aircraft to include GPS for its navigation system. That was before the days of widespread use of NanoTechology in electronics; as a result the F111 GPS was in a box the size of a Personal Computer and cost around half million dollars. I have a Tom-Tom GPS for my auto which is palm sized and cost a few hundred dollars. In 2012 I bought a 4 inch Samsung SIII smartphone which cost less than $200 and which included a free GPS App. I also bought a Toshiba Thrive Tablet for less than $300 which contains a free Google GPS App. GPS can be downloaded free to any Android mobile device. These free Google GPS Apps use Google navigation maps, for which you get charged data usage by your Android mobile server. You can download a more sophisticated GPS program that includes downloaded maps for which you pay a once only price, which avoids the data cost for using the maps which are stored in your mobile device memory. I took a test flight in the Caltech flying club aircraft that included a GPS navigation system with an easy to comprehend display. One of the benefits of this aircraft GPS is it would permit making IFR approaches to airports that lack an FAA ILS approach system, such as the airport here in Lompoc, CA, where I live. This book is intended to provide the status of GPS technology for use in walking, driving, boating and flying in 2013.

The second 6 Gay Tales novel was based on gay love during the Afghanistan War, a gay love group in a Moslem bar, gay love in space, gay love between two cryptologists while they solved a hacking threat from Iranian hackers, and the seeking out and gay love living together of a US General and Colonel who had used gay love making to release tensions during the Afghanistan War. This gay couple found each other in Pismo Beach, California, where they moved to live with each other as gay lovers. This new book is a series of five stories suggested by news articles and Internet messages, with emphasis on how gay lovers found each other after deciding to convert to gay love making, after a traumatic love experience with their heterosexual lovers.
Osama bin Laden, the face of global terrorism and architect of the September 11, 2001, attacks, was killed in a firefight with elite American forces on Monday (1 May 2011 Pakistani time which was 2 May 2011 Washington, DC, time), then quickly buried at sea in a stunning finale to a furtive decade on the run. Long believed to be hiding in caves, bin Laden was tracked down in a costly, custom-built hideout not far from a Pakistani military academy. The stunning news of his death prompted relief and euphoria outside the White House and around the globe, yet also fears of terrorist reprisals against the United States and its allies. "Justice has been done," President Barack Obama said in a dramatic announcement at the White House. The military operation took mere minutes, and there were no U.S. casualties. U.S. helicopters ferried troops from Navy SEAL Team Six, a top military counter-terrorism unit, into the compound identified by the CIA as bin Laden's hideout - and back out again in less than 40 minutes. Bin Laden was shot in the head, officials said, after he and his bodyguards resisted the assault. Three adult males were also killed in the raid, including one of bin Laden's sons, whom officials did not name. One of bin Laden's sons, Hamza, is a senior member of al-Qaeda. U.S. officials also said one woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant, and two other women were injured. The U.S. official who disclosed the burial at sea said it would have been difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains. Obama said the remains had been handled in accordance with Islamic custom, which requires speedy burial.
Your author decided to write this book about DNA Chemistry after being invited to a Caltech Associates dinner to hear a speech by Professor Jacqueline Barton, a leader in the study of chemistry of DNA by the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department at Caltech where she is Chair of that department. I have included in this book research I discovered taking place after investigating the Internet. As Professor Barton stated in her Associates lecture, DNA can be damaged in the double helical DNA. She and her Caltech research associates are using a base of sensors they design to find where the DNA is damaged and is in need of repair to avoid cancerous mutations. The purpose of this book is to use the Internet to explore what is happening in DNA Chemistry Research. I find much research is taking place and it is exciting to find out about the impact on Human Health in the areas of Cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. We examine in detail what is happening in the areas of DNA damage detection and what is being done to repair the damage.
We all grow old and retire. Then we must to live on Social Security and Retirement Pensions. Some may want to move from their present home and acquire one more suitable to their retirement situation. It is important to keep your mind active. Studies show Alzheimer's can be avoided by keeping an active brain. Also you need to adopt a daily exercise routine to keep your body active. For example: before breakfast in house exercising such as bend-overs and pushups following the US Air Force exercise routine. After breakfast jog or walk at least a mile per day. After retirement you have time to learn new ways to invest and you have more time to analyze your investment. Your author learned to do weekly options trading which will keep your brain working and generate weekly income. Chapter 12 describes a low cost options trading software from the author. Avoid expensive foods. Your author converted to a vegetarian diet obtaining protein from beans and nuts rather than meat. Studies have shown that vegetarians are healthier and live longer than meat eaters. Another reason for switching from meat to vegetarian is it costs less which helps cope with your retirement income. Participate in travel activities such as local bus tours, visiting friends and family by automobile, attending school alumni gatherings, and budget tour boat trips. Consider personal transportation modes such as electric cars or smaller cars with good mileage.
I have been trading Index Options since 1985. My strategy has been to trade Iron Condors which use a Credit Call Spread and a Credit Put Spread. The Short Call was at the Strike Price 2 Standard Deviations (2sigma) above the index market value and the Long Call was at the next strike price higher with a Short Put at the Strike Price 2 Standard Deviations (2sigma) below the index market value and a Long Put the next strike price lower. When I began trading Index Options the Index options expired on the 3rd Friday of each month. Weekly options began in 2006 which had Index Options that expired each Friday at market close. Recently the rule has changed so that on the third Friday of each month the SPX weekly options expire at market open rather than close. For several years I found my basic strategy of executing Weekly Index Options on Monday or Tuesday using the 2 standard deviation Condors worked well with the profits at Friday expiration being equal to the Initial Credit received 90% of the time, as Statistical Theory says should be the case. Starting in 2012 the Index market became unstable. Often the market moved up or down by an amount equal to the computed 2 standard deviations in one day causing the Short Call or Short Put to be in-the-money (ITM) requiring an exit from the Condor at a loss for the week. When this first started happening in summer of 2012, I could open a new safe 2 sigma Condor to eliminate most of the loss, which resulted in a weekly profit. In Spring of 2013 the Index markets became more unstable with the 2sigma movements occurring on Friday resulting in weekly losses. Therefore it was impossible to make a weekly profit. As a result of this market behavior I concluded it was necessary to come up with an Algorithm to replace the 2 sigma values to continue making reliable weekly profits using Weekly Index Options. This book describes how to continue making a profit using 2 sigma Condors for SPX or SPY plus my Excel based software for trading SelfAdapSPYSPXWeeklyVLTY. When the 2 sig Condors go ITM (in the money) I can use SPY ATM (at the money) Long Straddles to make a weekly profit. This book describes the strategy, tactics, and tricks to continue making a profit using weekly options when the markets are wild.
