Victor Nance is a Vice Squad cop working out of Gary Indiana. Shana Gordon is from Chicago and a part of the Juvenile Division. Henry Clayton is an ex-New York cop turned chief of police of a small Alabama town. Ordinarily, there would be nothing to bring these three law enforcement officers together. But Chief Clayton is facing a major crisis. One of his undercover officers was most likely murdered by a dangerous and wily up and coming drug dealer, T.J Killerbrew. With no evidence to prove murder, Chief Clayton wants to take Killerbrew down for anything that would put him behind bars. He’s willing to recruit special assignment talent to get the job done. Nance and Shana will ultimately accept the challenge. Their plan of attack is simple. Make a small buy, and then follow up with a larger one. Still, complications abound, including Shana’s ambitious, prone to make mistakes personality ; Nance’s crumbling marriage and growing attraction to Shana. Killerbrew’s murderous nature, and penchant for sniffing out undercover cops can be added to the mix. For Nance and Shana it boils down to a tense game of cat and mouse in which one slip of the tongue, or false move could have deadly consequences.
The truth hurts and no one is spared. This is the overriding theme of the new book from Johnnie Newkirk Jr. Brutally honest and thought provoking, Real Love. Real Issues. Real Solutions. strikes at the heart of humanity, a fierce reflection on reality, and a challenge to open our eyes and to cross all barriers all this from one Renaissance man who spares no one as he takes on the minority community, the church, and the politicians. Newkirk speaks from experience and tackles current issues such as terrorism, gay issues, pedophilia and many others with acerbic wit and leaves lasting profundities for the reader to contemplate. This contemporary book of vicious commentaries is a must read. And a lot of what he states can, and is, fairly, substantiated. THE TRUTH BE TOLD Religion is a subject that I dislike to address. But I feel I must do so in the name of fairness. Religion has become a big business, and a profitable one at that. This is not a theory, but indeed a fact. In theory, there is separation of church and state. But in reality, it's a marriage that becomes stronger each and every day. It's not about promoting the message of God. It's about promoting the message, of the messenger, who claims to speak on behalf of God. Oh, what fools we mortals must be, when we lose all sense and rationality. Many priests are, and always have been, sleeping with boys. These priests were/are not only engaging in homosexual and pedophile acts, but were/are also committing statutory rape, by the mere fact that they were/are sexually involved with these under-aged boys. Yet the authorities gave them a pass. Because they're a religious organization. And that was, and still is, their rationalization. But it's all right for the pope, who is the most powerful religious leader in the world, to speak out against marriage between gays, but will not speak out, or take a stand against the immorality and illegality that many of his priests and other church officials are committing from day to day. We are a part of God and God is a part of us. And only in God should we place our trust. Church leaders and politicians are one and the same. It's all about power and money, and that's the name of the game. Deep down inside we all know right from wrong. Anyone who tells you different is only stringing you along. For God lives within each of us, so call on Him in your hour of need. He will never let you down; this I guarantee. The church and religion are institutions that society greatly needs as long as they remain fair and balanced and divorce themselves from politics, power, and greed. When one does not look at things rationally, logically, or ask questions when something doesn't make sense, this is not living by faith, it's living by pure ignorance. God supplied us with a brain to assess things with. When one becomes obsessed with religion and will not question it that person has become fanatical about it. And you will find a lot of these said fanatics sitting right in church. Because, to them, the church is more than just their home, it is also their turf. Fanatics aren't good for the church, religion, or society. They're a threat to all of humanity. The Bible, is a wonderful book, this I totally agree. And I advise everyone to read it, and I do so open-heartedly. There are many different versions of the Bible as you well know. A lot of books were lost or deliberately destroyed. Why? Only God knows. Men said that the words in the Bible came to them directly from God. Who took the dictation and where are the written logs? If no one wrote it down then it's all hearsay. Considering the many different translations that it has undergone and so many books that have been deliberately destroyed, or hidden, what does your common-sense say? The Bible is a wonderful

December 26, 1999. The Reverend Ananias Divine couldn’t believe his eyes. The Church was so enormously packed that they had to bring in about two hundred more chairs to accommodate the mass of the Congregation. While the whole nation and the people in the rest of the world were overwhelmingly concerned about Y2K, the people in the small town of Prairie View, Texas had only one major concern on their mind: Reverend Divine was retiring as the Pastor of the Divine Temple Holiness Church, and the Reverend Bruce Baltimore was to take over. Reverend Divine was a godly man whom everybody looked up to with the outmost respect. People loved and respected him all their lives. Reverend Baltimore, on the other hand, did some things in his life that many would feel would make him unworthy to be Pastor. Bruce Baltimore constantly reminded the Congregation that he was a living testimony, that if God could show grace and mercy, and save a wretched and useless man like him, that he could save anybody who trust in Him and call upon His name. Like the prodigal son, Bruce Baltimore was on the verse of losing everything: his job, his ball games, his marriage, his son, his daughter, respect from his dog, his fi nance and material things, his sanity, and even his own life, both spiritually and physically. But Bruce fi nally comes to himself and accepts God’s amazing grace. Readers can fi nd out more about the life of Bruce and his family as his story unravels in Living Testimony.

These past few years have taught me a lot about me. After finally hitting my stride, my old friend karma kicked me in the ass; hard enough to leave a lasting mark. I don’t know if it’s the poetry or the art of storytelling I love most, but I’m glad to have finally reached the climax of the trilogy, and who doesn’t like a good climax? I’ve worn many hats but being called a poet never crossed my mind. With that being said, I’m glad I dove in headfirst into something challenging because it turned out I enjoy it. They say never judge a book by its cover and you shouldn’t, but if you did, this cover is amazing, ain’t it. These poems are like Pringles, I bet you can’t read just one. Go ahead, try me, and take a walk on the wild side. You just might like it! After three renditions, it’s time to move on to a new challenge. Like everything else in life, it’s about moderation and I’ve spent an enormous amount of time writing. For as much as I love it, I love living more and being able enjoying the things I’ve I been blessed with. That and I got other stuff I wanna do.

The period known as the 60's sparked several revolutions in America. It was the era of religious expression, communes, protests, long hair and sexual free will. But when the external liberties that the 60's introduced began to diminish, the 70's would begin a time period of pseudo-celebration for the freedoms that were "obtained." While America celebrated, the youth of the next generation were left home alone to face their own struggles. Johnnie Dent takes us on an astonishing personal journey while sharing with us three decades of his own life. He allows us to reexamine the social dilemmas of domestic violence, single parenting, teenage pregnancy, youth violence, drug trafficking, police brutality, the penal system and even religious intolerance. He provides us with a refreshing retrospective and introspective of what real life in America is like to be poor, ignorant, black and male. However, while he illustrates for us these startling facts that we seemingly overlook in everyday life, he also demonstrates that any person can transform the negative patterns of their lifestyles by beginning a new walk layered with faith.

Born profoundly deaf in one ear and about 50 percent HoH in the other, Johnnie suffered a fall at four years old. That fall resulted in his spending six years pinballing from hospital to hospital, enduring painful surgeries attempting to save his leg. As a result, he had no chance to develop basic communication skills until he entered Deaf school at age thirteen. One of his teachers there was Dr. McCay Vernon. It was at Deaf school that he developed interests in sports, math and science, and art. After graduation, Johnnie worked numerous hard labor jobs. In the days preceding OSHA, many of these jobs were dangerous, and Johnnie suffered several lifelong injuries, one of which dashed his hopes of succeeding as a professional athlete. With the help of Albert Greenberg, Colorado Department of Rehabilitation's first counselor for the Deaf, and Reverend DeMeree from Denver Temple Baptist Church, Johnnie developed a professional engineering career. He married and raised three boys. In cowriting the book, David Greenberg carries on the legacy of his father, Albert, and his mother, Joanne, writer of In This Sign and I Never Promised You a Rose Garden. Writing was only one of the skills David needed to master to complete this project. He's an accomplished ASL signer and a computer and communications engineer. Together, they created an inspirational and insightful book in casual, non-scholastic language that treats the reader like a friend. Written in first-person, from the emotional perspective, My Quiet Fight for Home emphasizes Johnnie's lifelong efforts to develop communication and career skills, as well as essential character traits, like honesty, courage, kindness, and loyalty.

Christ My Healer and Deliverer is the testimony of a woman’s journey from sin to redemption. God restored her, and now she is doing what he desires for her life. “I felt as though I was having a nightmare, but that was impossible. My eyes were wide open. All the things I did were against everything I once stood for. How did I allow myself to get to this place? I loved God and had served him from my youth, but I fell right into the devil’s trap. How could I be so foolish and allow a man to separate me from my God? It was so strange being where I was and not being able to hear from him. God was still there; it was me who had moved. When I finally came to my senses and called on God to help me, he lifted me out of the pit I was in. God cleansed me and got me back on track. I am now headed in the right direction and fulfilling the purpose God has for my life. I can once again walk with my head held high, because he healed me from my shame. I have purposed in my heart to never allow anyone or anything to ever come between me and God.”

Unwittingly, mankind wanders off from the Fathers embrace into the darkness, becoming lost, alone and aching for the safety and comfort he once knew. Have you ever felt the desire of arms to embrace you and bring comfort to your soul? Just as the literal birth canal is dark and disorienting so too are some of lifes challenges. Know that in the darkest hour, when life as one knows it suddenly shifts, the Fathers arms are there, like a doctor at an impending birth, ready to catch and comfort each of us upon our emergence whether it is from dark nights, one or many dark encounters or a dark past. Guided by the Creator, Momma Braxton and Martha Mae develop from a divine conception and spiritual gestation in the womb to a thriving infancy and adulthood in Christianity. Take a journey down the birth canal with the author, experience the complications, and witness as each contraction pushes both Momma Braxton and Martha Mae closer to the waiting hands of the Fathers embrace.

The most famous lawyer in America talks about the law, his life, and how he has won. Johnnie Cochran has been a lawyer for almost forty years. In that time, he has taken on dozens of groundbreaking cases and emerged as a pivotal figure in race relations in America. Cochran gained international recognition as one of America's best - and most controversial lawyers - for leading 'the Dream Team' defense of accused killer O.J. Simpson in the Trial of the Century. Many people formed their perception of Cochran based on his work in that trial. But long before the Simpson trial and since then Johnnie Cochran has been a leader in the fight for justice for all Americans. This is his story. Cochran emerged from the trial as one of the nation's leading African-American spokespersons - and he has done most of his talking through the courtroom. Abner Louima. Amadou Diallo. The racially-profiled New Jersey Turnpike Four. Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. Patrick Dorismond. Cynthia Wiggins. These are the names that have dominated legal headlines - and Cochran was involved with each of them. No one who first encountered him during the Simpson trial can appreciate his impact on our world until they've read his whole story. Drawing on Cochran's most intriguing and difficult cases, A Lawyer's Life shows how he's fought his critics, won for his clients, and affected real change within the system. This is an intimate and compelling memoir of one lawyer's attempt to make us all truly equal in the eyes of the law.
