The Authoritative Guide to Building Service-Oriented Solutions with Microsoft .NET Technologies and the Windows Azure Cloud Computing Platform In SOA with .NET and Windows Azure, top Microsoft technology experts team up with Thomas Erl to explore service-oriented computing with Microsoft’s latest .NET service technologies and Windows Azure innovations. The authors provide comprehensive documentation of on-premise and cloud-based modern service technology advancements within the Microsoft platform and further show how these technologies have increased the potential for applying and realizing service-orientation practices and goals. Specifically, the book delves into Microsoft enterprise technologies, such as: Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Windows Azure Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) Windows Azure AppFabric BizTalk Server Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) ...as well as industry service mediums, including WS-* and REST, and many related service industry standards and technologies. The book steps through common SOA design patterns and service-orientation principles, along with numerous code-level examples that further detail various technology architectures and implementations. Topic Areas This book covers the following primary topics: Microsoft Service Technologies Microsoft Enterprise Technologies On-Premise & Cloud-Based Service Topics Industry Service Technologies & Mediums Service-Oriented Technology Architectural Models Service-Orientation Design Paradigm Service-Orientation Design Principles SOA Design Patterns About the Web Sites This book series is further supported by a series of resources sites, including: www.soabooks.com www.soaspecs.com www.soamag.com www.serviceorientation.com www.soapatterns.org www.soaprinciples.com www.whatissoa.com
The Sultanate of Oman, at the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, borders on three different bodies of Ocean: the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Gulf. This beautifully illustrated book is the first to bring the diverse inshore fish fauna of Oman under one cover. Recent fieldwork by the author and colleagues has increased the number of known shore fishes (defined as those occurring in less than 200 metres) to 930, all of which are treated in this volume. A surprising 52 new species of inshore fishes of Oman (four of which required new generic names) were collected during the recent fieldwork; these had to be described in scientific papers to make the names available for this book. All of the species are illustrated, mostly in colour. The family and species accounts are written to be understood by the layman (a glossary and diagrams are provided to explain scientific terms), but with enough detail and references to serve the needs of professional biologists. Coastal Fishes of Oman will promote appreciation of the unique fish fauna of Oman, provide a much-needed inventory of this invaluable resource, and form the basis for future fisheries management.
Churches Engage Asian Traditions is the first comprehensive history of Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in Asia. From the first Mennonite church in Asia in 1851, to 265,000 Mennonites and Brethren in Christ church members in 13 countries today. From the Introduction to the volume: This vast and fascinating area, with its many centuries-old cultures and languages, its huge problems mastering the elements of nature, its immense population (problematic but also an asset), and its serious globalization efforts, is home to many competing, clashing or more often harmoniously cooperating religions. In [this book] we will see how and why Christians, and particularly Mennonites, arrived on the scene and how they have accommodated to the specific contexts of the Asian countries where they are at home.

The winding number is one of the most basic invariants in topology. It measures the number of times a moving point P goes around a fixed point Q, provided that P travels on a path that never goes through Q and that the final position of P is the same as its starting position. This simple idea has far-reaching applications. The reader of this book will learn how the winding number can help us show that every polynomial equation has a root (the fundamental theorem of algebra),guarantee a fair division of three objects in space by a single planar cut (the ham sandwich theorem),explain why every simple closed curve has an inside and an outside (the Jordan curve theorem),relate calculus to curvature and the singularities of vector fields (the Hopf index theorem),allow one to subtract infinity from infinity and get a finite answer (Toeplitz operators),generalize to give a fundamental and beautiful insight into the topology of matrix groups (the Bott periodicity theorem). All these subjects and more are developed starting only from mathematics that is common in final-year undergraduate courses.
This book provides comprehensive coverage of smart biomaterials and their potential applications, a field that is developing at a very rapid pace. Because smart biomaterials are an emerging class of biomaterials that respond to small changes in external stimuli with large discontinuous changes in their physical properties, they have been designed to act as an “on–off” switch for, among others, bio separation, immunoanalysis, drug delivery technologies, gene therapy, diagnostics, bio sensors and artificial muscles. After an introduction to the topic and the history of smart biomaterials, the author gives the reader an in-depth look at the properties, mechanics, and characterization of smart biomaterials including hydrogels, particles, assemblies, surfaces, fibers and conjugates. Information on the wide range of applications for these materials follows, including drug delivery, tissue engineering, diagnostics, biosensors, bio separation and actuators. In addition, recent advances in shape memory biomaterials as active components of medical devices are also presented.
Fully Human-Fully Divine: Integral Dynamic Monotheism, a Meeting Point between the Vedic Vision and the Vision of Christ is the latest book of John Martin Sahajananda. This books deals with finding the answer to the fundamental question: Who are human beings? He looks for the answer to this basic question in two categories of spiritual traditions, viz., prophetic tradition and wisdom tradition. The wisdom tradition seems to focus on our oneness with God and the prophetic tradition on our humanness. He proposes a view that integrates these two views in an inclusive way. We are fully human and also fully divine. He looks at spiritual life as a dynamic process of evolution in relationship with God. This process he describes as Integral Dynamic Monotheism. In the second part of the book, he explains to us about similarities between the spiritual awakening and spiritual evolution in the Vedic tradition and the biblical tradition. He shows how close these great traditions can come, and when they come close together, they realize what they need from one another to make them richer and fuller. Thus he says that the challenge of Upanishadic tradition to Christianity is to open the nondualistic experience of Jesus, which is the radical love of God for all the Christians. In the same way, the challenge of Christ to the Vedic tradition is to translate its nondualistic wisdom of God, which is the radical love of God, into nondualistic action and social transformation that is the radical love of ones neighbor.

Asian populations are among some of the fastest growing cultural groups in the US. While books on serving other target groups in libraries have been published (e.g., disabled, Latino, seniors, etc.), few books on serving library users of Asian heritage have been written. Thus the timely need for this book. Rather than a generalized overview of Asians as a whole, this book has 24 separate chapters—each on 24 specific Asian countries/cultures of East, Southeast, and South Asia—with a wealth of resources for understanding, interacting with, outreaching to, and serving library users of each culture. Resources include cultural guides (both print and online), language helps (with sample library vocabulary), Asian booksellers, nationwide cultural groups, professional literature, and more. Resources and suggestions are given for all three types of libraries—public, school, and academic—making this book valuable for all librarians. The demographics of each Asian culture (numbers and distribution)—plus history of immigration and international student enrollment—is also featured. As a bonus, each chapter spotlights a US public, school, and academic library providing model outreach to Asian library users. Additionally, this book provides a detailed description and analysis of libraries in each of the 24 Asian countries. The history, development, facilities, conditions, technology, classification systems, and more—of public, school, and academic libraries—are all discussed, with detailed documentation. Country conditions influencing libraries and library use are also described: literacy levels, reading cultures, languages and writing systems, educational systems, and more. Based on the author’s 15 years of research and travels to Asia, this work is a must-have for all librarians.
Provides: over 26,000 academic institutions, 150,000 staff and officials; extensive coverage of universities, colleges and other centres of learning; and detailed information on over 400 international cultural, scientific and educational organizations.
