Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent, debilitating public health problem. Cognitive behavioral therapies (CBTs), and specifically exposure-based therapy, have long dominated PTSD treatment. Empirically supported treatments-Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and virtual reality therapy-all have relied upon the "fear extinction model" of exposing patients to reminders of their trauma until they grow accustomed to and extinguish the fear. While exposure-based treatments work, they (like all treatments) have their limits. Many patients refuse to undergo them or drop out of treatment prematurely; others may actually worsen in such treatment; and still others simply do not benefit from them. Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder describes a novel approach that has the potential to transform the psychological treatment of PTSD. Across the country are hundreds of high school football rivalries. Each might lay claim that it is special in many ways. In the heart of the great central valley of California is one such rivalry that is exceptional in its power over the people who have been part of it. Two high schools, Redwood and Mt. Whitney, began playing an annual football game against each other in 1955. The 50th game of this traditional rivalry was played in 2004 before 10,000 fans and a live television audience. The two schools, located only a few blocks from each other in Visalia, California, a city of 100,000 people, have maintained this intense rivalry for over 50 years like very few schools have ever done. The game is played before a packed stadium every year and the community claims it as the biggest event during the entire year. Part 1 explores the history of the Cowhide game, relating the early humble beginning when the original high school split into two schools. The evolution of the game over 50 years is explored. Using hundreds of questionnaires, newspaper accounts, and many interviews with those involved over the years, the real meaning of the Cowhide tradition is explored and the reasons are brought out as to why this rivalry has not only endured but has actually increased in strength over the years. Part 2 gives a detailed account of each of the 50 games, including the teams' records coming into the game, the results of any subsequent playoffs, and a complete roster of the teams for each year. The article of the local newspaper about the game is included in each chapter. At the end is an appendix of stats, a listing of head and assistant coaches, and other interesting items over the years. Wilt disease or the panama disease of plant is among the most destructive disease of banana in the tropics and even the control methods like field sanitation, soil treatments and crop rotations have not been a long term control for this disease. An alternative method of treating Fusarium oxysporum was adopted by using various banana parts mainly its peel, pulp sap and its latex of varieties such as Robusta (B1) Musa acuminate Colla (AAA), Etha (B2) Musa x paradisiaca (AAB), Poovan (B3) Musa x paradisiaca (AAB), Sundari (B4) Musa acuminate Colla (AA), Njalipoovan (B5) Musa acuminate Colla (AB), Palayamkodan (B6) Musa x paradisiaca (AAB), Kannan (B8) Musa acuminate Colla (AAA), Pachakadali (B9) Musa acuminate Colla (AAA). Nanoparticles are small particles with a dimension of 10-9 and 10-10. Green synthesis is a new method developed for the synthesis of nanoparticles which is small in size, large surface area and eco- friendly. Leaf extracts of these plants were used for synthesis of copper and zinc nanoparticles, as nanoparticles are powerful antimicrobial agents. The results shows that dry skin and fruit extracts of Palemkodan, Njalipoovan, Etha, Pachakhadali with solvents, propane, ethanol, methanol and acetone and the fresh extract latex and sap of Palemkodan and Poovan with solvents isoproponol, ethanol, methanol with 1/10 and 1/50 dilution are used for the synthesis of copper and zinc nanoparticles. Copper and zinc nanoparticle shows greater antifungal activity than copper sulphate and zinc sulphate, respectively and dry extract. The maximum zone of inhibition was at 50 and 100 µl for all the test plates. This indicates that the zone of inhibition increases with as the concentration of nanoparticles increased. An overall result showed that ethanol, methanol and isoropane could be used as a good solvents and skin of Njalipoovan and Etha could be used for controlling the Fusarium oxysporum cubense under invitro conditions.

Constrained Coding and Soft Iterative Decoding is the first work to combine the issues of constrained coding and soft iterative decoding (e.g., turbo and LDPC codes) from a unified point of view. Since constrained coding is widely used in magnetic and optical storage, it is necessary to use some special techniques (modified concatenation scheme or bit insertion) in order to apply soft iterative decoding. Recent breakthroughs in the design and decoding of error-control codes (ECCs) show significant potential for improving the performance of many communications systems. ECCs such as turbo codes and low-density parity check (LDPC) codes can be represented by graphs and decoded by passing probabilistic (a.k.a. `soft') messages along the edges of the graph. This message-passing algorithm yields powerful decoders whose performance can approach the theoretical limits on capacity. This exposition uses `normal graphs,' introduced by Forney, which extend in a natural manner to block diagram representations of the system and provide a simple unified framework for the decoding of ECCs, constrained codes, and channels with memory. Soft iterative decoding is illustrated by the application of turbo codes and LDPC codes to magnetic recording channels. For magnetic and optical storage, an issue arises in the use of constrained coding, which places restrictions on the sequences that can be transmitted through the channel; the use of constrained coding in combination with soft ECC decoders is addressed by the modified concatenation scheme also known as `reverse concatenation.' Moreover, a soft constraint decoder yields additional coding gain from the redundancy in the constraint, which may be of practical interest in the case of optical storage. In addition, this monograph presents several other research results (including the design of sliding-block lossless compression codes, and the decoding of array codes as LDPC codes). Furthermore, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) are now responding to challenges posed by climate change by unravelling the impacts of teleconnection (e.g., ENSO) as well as advancing the use of reflected signals (GNSS-reflectometry) to monitor, e.g., soil moisture variations. Indeed all these rely on the explosive use of “big data” in many fields of human endeavour. Moreover, with the ever-increasing global population, intense pressure is being exerted on the Earth’s resources, leading to significant changes in its land cover (e.g., deforestation), diminishing biodiversity and natural habitats, dwindling fresh water supplies, and changing weather and climatic patterns (e.g., global warming, changing sea level). Environmental monitoring techniques that provide information on these are under scrutiny from an increasingly environmentally conscious society that demands the efficient delivery of such information at a minimal cost. Environmental changes vary both spatially and temporally, thereby putting pressure on traditional methods of data acquisition, some of which are highly labour intensive, such as animal tracking for conservation purposes. With these challenges, conventional monitoring techniques, particularly those that record spatial changes call for more sophisticated approaches that deliver the necessary information at an affordable cost. One direction being pursued in the development of such techniques involves environmental geoinformatics, which can act as a stand-alone method or complement traditional methods.
