The cup was presented to the Wagga Wagga CA on the October 20, 1925, by Mr. Thomas Joseph “Tom” O’Farrell, who was a tailor with a business in Wagga Wagga. Its purpose was to raise the standard of country cricket and help arouse the interest and enthusiasm of both players and public in the game. By the original rules, which were drawn up by Mr. O’Farrell, Mr. M. Cusick, and Mr. G. Pinkstone, the cup was won outright by Wagga, who wisely redonated it, and it was put into play in the 1930–31 season as a perpetual challenge trophy for teams within one hundred miles radius of Wagga Wagga. O’Farrell was a frequent spectator at games and often handed over the cup to the winning captain. He was later to say, “I am particularly glad that the competition is doing so much to let the residents of surrounding towns learn more of each other in so friendly a way.”

Leadership under pressure: the personal account of the commander of the Royal Naval Task Group deployed to Libya in 2011. In April 2011, the newly created Royal Navy Response Force Task Group deployed to the Mediterranean to provide a range of military options in response to the Arab Spring. For the next six months the group planned and prepared for a range of potential operations including noncombatant evacuations from Libya, Yemen and Syria, maritime interdiction operations off the Libyan coast, and amphibious landings. On 3 June the group began launching attack helicopter strikes into Libya and in the nights that followed planned 47 and executed 22 strikes destroying a range of targets including: 54 vehicles, 2 rigid hull boats, 2 BM 21 rocket launchers, 4 main battle tanks, 1 zsu antiaircraft vehicle and 3 command and control nodes. The operation saw the first operational use of Apaches from the sea and the first embarkation of US Army combat search and rescue teams and Blackhawk helicopters in an RN warship. This is a personal account by the Group’s Commander, which brings to life the challenges of command – including authorizing strikes and mitigating risk to UK aircrew – in a complex and challenging environment. It reveals how closely the RN Group worked with its French counterpart, the support provided by the United States, together with the complexity of working alongside NATO and of simultaneously dealing with a range of UK authorities. This is a story of leadership under pressure and the remarkable professionalism of all involved and the bravery of Army aircrew. It was modern defense and joinery at its best – British Army and USAF helicopters operating from RN ships, supported by Fleet Air Arm aircraft and fixed wing jets as part of a largely air campaign.

This tenth in a series concludes this ground-breaking word-by-word analysis of Finnegans Wake, the literary monument which records James Joyce's desperate search for spiritual connection. In the chapter covered by this volume, the main connecting links are reincarnation of ALP and reincarnation of the novel itself. For his last weave, Tikkun Master Joyce joins strands of Kabbalah and Hinduism to launch a fully realized ALP. She comes to roost but in a new home on the far shore. ALP realizes independence as she throws off fear of the church, of males, and of death. The pivotal event for this purpose is closure provided by the funeral for Father Michael, ALP's sexmailer. The resulting freedom gives her independence as well as what she already had, her instinctive charitable nature. Given the unity of FW, it will come as no surprise that with this final development ALP shares soul with three of Joyce's examples of godliness: Jesus, Buddha and highest art produced by humans. They all share the weave of independence and charity, Joyce's conditions for the sacred. And these conditions turn on light within. This chapter opens with the arrival of morning light within the Earwicker household and is anchored by a culminating debate between a dogmatic Catholic and a meditating Celt about reflected versus absorbed color [think absorbed light as light within]. Joyce chose light for this purpose because in a manner of speaking light is also a mixture of independence and charity. Independent of the observer and time and space, light shows charity at the subatomic level. Light being absorbed shares vibrational energy with and thus energizes sympathetic electrons of the absorbing material, becoming light within. By contrast, light reflected is not absorbed and does not energize. Energy wise it is wasted. Joyce presents ALP as having absorbed divine energy. She lights up from within with independent voltage. Reflecting her new realization, the final subject in ALP's stream of consciousness is herself in the present in the stream of life. With this focus ALP merges into the novel and they both reincarnate back to the beginning. The novel reincarnates by way of the joinder of the incomplete sentence fragment in the last line with the incomplete sentence fragment in the first line of Chapter 1. Together they make a whole. ALP's spirit reincarnates to a new birth mother so as to assist in Tikkun, which so far is incomplete. Her reincarnated soul is to light up from within as it is absorbed by a newly born infant. So as we finish this reading of FW, we uncover a mother lode of connections in Joyce's light: ALP merges into FW; ALP's soul reincarnates into another; the book joins its ending with its beginning in a reincarnation of rereading and new meanings; and a punning connection from Kabbala holds it all together. No matter how far we run, we can't outrun the Gospel. Trust me, I've tried. I spent over forty years wandering through the sinful wilderness, until I humbly accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, my Redeemer, and my Friend. This autobiography is brutally honest and, at times, transparent to a fault. My motivation for sharing my personal testimony is not to feed my flesh or to embarrass myself but to glorify God, His kingdom, and his never-ending acts of agape love. It is my opinion that I was the worst type of addict because I was not homeless, a beggar, or what your mind's eye imagines. I was a father, a husband, and business owner and, quite possibly, the one sitting next to you at a restaurant/bar, a movie theater, or even church. We need to appreciate that no matter what we have done or failed to do, we are never too far from God's outreach. I have felt the thickness and glory of God on more than one occasion and can testify that it is complete joy, and my tens of thousands of dollars on narcotics can't even compare.
