This novel is based on a story related in the course of an interview conducted for a national Irish radio (RTE) programme in 1984 with the putative leader of the Estonian Resistance during World War II. The man interviewed died about two years later, leaving me a manuscript purporting to be the complete story. Further research, however, opened up quite a different perspective from which a former lieutenant began to emerge as the main protagonist. If his story could be verified, which seemed impossible, it would connect him with one of the great thefts of ancient art perpetrated during World War II. It would also connect him with an international incident that severely strained relations between the Russian authorities and Germany in 1993 when a number of these stolen items were displayed in Moscow's Pushkin Museum.

In PSYCH DNA, Dr. Brady who was immersed in the case from the beginning using modern criminological methods and new psychological assessment tools not available five decades ago has reassessed Sirhan' s mental state arriving at five current mental conditions that, in his opinion, if presented at trial could have changed the jury' s verdict and spared Sirhan a trip to San Quentin' s death row. What follows is Dr. Brady chronicling an amazing journey into the darkest recesses of Sirhan' s unconscious, altered mind where homicidal thoughts had percolated for years. At long last, Sirhan' s criminal mystery wrapped in a psychological enigma is unraveled helping us understand the psychodynamics of a would-be assassin.

Two different but related research agendas are developed: the study of the spread of neoliberalism as seen from the perspective of Eastern European post-communist evolutions and the study of Eastern European transition as seen from an ideas-centered perspective. Combining a distinctive synthesis of the existing data about the spread of neoliberal economic ideas in Central and Eastern Europe with an analysis of the processes at work, the authors challenge a series of misunderstandings and myths about the spread of neoliberal economic ideas. The disputed topics include: the myth of an Eastern European rush to embrace the theories and ideas that may be considered the mark of market fundamentalism ; the notion that a harsh neoliberal dogmatism was somehow imposed on the region from outside; the idea that the standardization and regimentation of economic thinking was a result of the spread of the Western way of doing economics; and the belief that the Eastern Europeans passively embraced this uniformity and standardization due to pressure from the Westerners. The fourth annual International Industrial Symposium on the Super Collider, rrssc held March 4-6, 1992, in New Orleans was a great success. Present at this year's conference were 839 attendees representing 24 universities and colleges, 34 states, 13 countries, 17 national laboratories, 11 research centers, many government entities at the local, state and federal levels, and 235 businesses and companies. This year's symposium also included 101 exhibits by 78 organizations. In all categories, this year's participation exceeded the totals of previous years and is an example of the growing support for the Superconducting Super Collider Program. This year's program had many highlights. One of the best was a message from President George Bush, read by Linda Stuntz, Acting Deputy Secretary, Department of Energy. President Bush said that each of us "can be proud of the role that you are playing in building the Collider and in setting the stage for a new era of research and discovery in high energy physics. " The 1992 IISSC's theme was "SSC-Discovering the Future. " This theme was chosen in commemoration of the SOOth anniversary of Columbus's voyage of discovery and the relationship of the SSC with discovery. This theme was articulated by all the speakers in the opening plenary session. Progress on the program was also very evident at this year's symposium. In the pictorial session, 66 photographs from all over the world were displayed to highlight progress in making the SSC a reality.

The last two centuries have witnessed profound changes in the nature of public consciousness. Nowhere has this been more true than in India, especially in relation to changing cultures of public life and religious tradition in South India. Essays in this collection attempt to explore the intricacies of what is perhaps the single most complex socio-religious environment in the world. The essays consider the evolution of the notion of Hinduism as a distinct and singular separate religion; the relationship between this kind of formulation and various European or western influences in India; and differences which the formation of this idea and its acceptance have made upon wider public consciousness. Each essay also considers certain general issues - such as the passing along of religious authority from one generation to the next, and the rise of disputes over matters both ideological (or doctrinal) and institutional, disputes that are fundamental to the traditions concerned and yet have unmistakable cross-cultural references.
