Serial Drawing offers a timely and rigorous exploration of a relatively little-researched art form. Serial drawings – artworks that are presented as singular works but are made up of distributed parts – are studied in fresh, contemporary terms with a novel philosophical approach, emphasizing both the way in which this unique form of visual art exists in the world, and how it is encountered by the beholder. Inspired by the quadruple framework of Graham Harman's object-oriented ontology, Joe Graham explores a variety of serial drawings according to the idea that, in being serially arrayed, such artworks constitute a rather particular form of art object: one which is both unified yet pluralised, visible yet withdrawn. Examining works by artists such as Alexei Jawlensky, Ellsworth Kelly, Hanne Darboven, Jill Baroff and Stefana McClure, Graham interrogates the manner in which serial drawings are able to be appreciated by the viewer who beholds them in object-oriented terms. This task is carried out by paying attention to the manner in which three tensions – space, time and seriality –emerge for consideration within the beholders performative encounter with the work: an encounter which is 'seen serially', and which the medium of drawing specifically directs their attention towards.

Joe Sutliff Sanders traces this debate as it began in the sentimental tales of the mid-nineteenth century and continued in the classic orphan girl novels of Louisa May Alcott, Frances Hodgson Burnett, L. M. Montgomery, and other writers still popular today. Domestic novels published between 1850 and 1880 argued that a discipline that emphasized love was the most effective and moral form. These were the first best sellers in American fiction, and by reimagining discipline as a technique of the heart—rather than of the whip—they ensured their protagonists a secure, if limited, claim on power. This same ideal was adapted by women authors in the early twentieth century, who transformed the sentimental motifs of domestic novels into the orphan girl story made popular in such novels as Anne of Green Gables and Pollyanna. Through close readings of nine of the most influential orphan girl novels, Sanders provides a seamless historical narrative of American children’s literature and gender from 1850 until 1923. He follows his insightful literary analysis with chapters on sympathy and motherhood, two themes central to both American and children’s literature, and concludes with a discussion of contemporary ideas about discipline, abuse, and gender. Disciplining Girls writes an important chapter in the history of American, women’s, and children’s literature, enriching previous work about the history of discipline in America.

The Cajun catches them all and later releases them with the promise of death if they return.But Kaja is not to be denied and returns with 24 men, including two of the best in the world, Mustafa and Kidane. I have started the sequel and have outlines for four more that are listed below.The main character is Ballew Dragon, who is swamp wise and mysterious. Some think his mother is the Swamp Witch. His buddy in the series is Kelli Parsons a beautiful, tough writer who is on the run from terrorists after her scorching articles on the Islamic faith.Returning characters are:Richard Staley - The FBI agent who is willing to give up Kelli for part of the reward, but changes and saves her in the end.Happy Jak Chamblee - He is Ballew's friend and runs a bar in the swamps called; "Happy Jak's." Belle Rose - the old, tobacco chewing, voodoo chanting, woman of the swamps they call "the Swamp Witch." The Cajun is a natural to lead into an adventure cartoon for kids dealing with all of the animals in the swamp. The Cajun could also make for a very interesting video game.The main character is part Crocodile Dundee and part Rambo (First Blood). This is perfect for a series of movies. I have three sequels ready to start. This would make a great graphic novel and even video game. I have also written a novel to the script.
