I have worked in the broadcasting and real estate industries and enjoyed both. I met a lot of people, had my ups and downs and in the end managed to laugh at myself and with others. There are joke, anecdote and amusing story books about the broadcasting industry. I could write about my experiences as a radio/TV announcer but feel broadcasting has already been adequately covered by other writers but not the real estate industry. In Finding Charity I hope you and your friends will enjoy reading with hours of smiles, chuckles and old fashioned belly laughs. Whenever I appear as a guest on radio or TV talk-show the host often invites me to 'stay a little longer' as listeners and viewers jam the phone lines with material. It seems that each humorous incident happened in their town, to them or a friend. Many theories exist about what humour is and what social function it serves. I found that people of all ages and cultures respond to humour. The majority of people are able to be amused, to laugh or to smile at something funny and thus they are considered to have "a sense of humour." Science proves that laughter heals. Sometime a sense of humour is a requisite for long-term survival in the real estate industry. After you have read Finding Charity I do not take responsibility for a cardiac arrest. I have tried to give credit wherever possible but jokes, anecdotes and amusing stories generally and now with cyberspace technology sweep the world so swiftly that it is often impossible to discover who put the story into public print first, let alone who actually originated it. I had fun in planning Finding Charity and to all those whom I interrupted with "I already got that one," I apologize. I'm particularly grateful to my wife Teofista for planting the idea in writing Finding Charity.

Filipino politicians have a reputation of being corrupt and the Muslim insurgent and the New Army problem, but most that make a journey to the 7000-odd islands are surprised by the beauty and friendliness of the people. There are no defined seasons in the Philippines and at times is difficult to determine which is spring, summer, autumn and which is winter. And when it rains, it pours. Most of the Philippines are resilient, stable and relatively safe. The local are exceptionally helpful, have a sense of humor and friendly. There are fantastic reefs and beaches, the food is good and accommodation is plentiful. English is the second language and widely spoken. Aside for its reputation for rampant lawlessness and reoccurring political instability Philippines is the entertainment capital of Asia with top-notch entertainment throughout the provinces including fiestas which at times have a Mardi Gras flavor. By world standards Canada is a country that respects and protects its human rights. That has not always been the case. ONCE UPON A TIME IN CANADA is not only a romantic ethnic/historical/fictional novel but also one that deals with justice when two young Ukrainian students leave their homeland in 1910 for Canada and while onboard a ship, meet two Irish school teachers. Both couples are on their way to Winnipeg in order to fi nd a better life. During World War 1 the Ukraine Pawlo Byli and Petro Chorny like most East Europeans are classified as 'The Scum of Europe' and along with 8500 other foreigners with the help of xenophobic Anglo Saxons, are incarcerated into 24 Concentration Camps because through no fault of their own, are classified as aliens and enemies of Canada. Th e novel also deals with the personal intrigues and struggles of the new British subjects, By world standards Canada is a country that respects and protects its citizen's human rights. That has not always been the case. This book is dedicated to all my Ukrainian friends who generously helped me with material and advice to reconstruct ONCE UPON A TIME IN CANADA. It is also dedicated to freedom and justice and all the people who understand and affirm freedom and justice.
