Currently, there are no textbooks on drug product manufacturing technology transfer that incorporate the latest regulatory expectations. Recent guidance from regulatory bodies such as the US FDA, EMEA, WHO, and PIC/S has adopted the ICH Lifecycle approach harmonizing concepts across regulatory guidance. This allows organizations to align their technology transfer activities for all regulated markets. However, there is a need for consensus and direction in approaching technology transfer, particularly in understanding how to manage the scale-up effects to ensure regulatory compliance. This textbook offers technology transfer solutions and guidance to the pharmaceutical industry. The chapters provide a systematic understanding of applying the technology transfer concepts in pharmaceutical manufacturing, promoting standardization within the industry. Since Stage 1b is not specified in detail within the regulations, pharmaceutical organizations are left to determine the requirements of the stage. The need to justify the methodologies and utilization of sound science makes it more demanding. The textbook’s authors provide innovative solutions for technology transfer challenges, making it a comprehensive reference document. The approaches can be applied to both small-molecule and large-molecule drug product manufacturing segments, addressing the unmet needs of the industry.

For many years I have had an interest in the equality of women and men, particularly in the church, where it has been woefully lacking for the most part. More recently Fundamentalist theologians have become increasingly blatant in asserting that the Bible teaches subordination of women to men both inside and outside the church. I have argued that this idea results from an irresponsible proof-texting from the Bible. I am convinced that, when taken as a whole, looking at all passages referring to women, the Bible supports the complete equality of women with men. I have undertaken to demonstrate this fact by looking carefully at the stories of women in the Bible, both named and unnamed, who were not submissive to men and who refused to settle for the role which their society attempted to assign them. I have taken these passages from the Bible and interpreted them within the context into which they are placed, to the degree that this can be determined. My goal was to find every story in the Bible in which a woman stepped out of her societal role and did something only men were supposed to do. I leave to the reader to decide whether or not I have succeeded.

Relics inspire fear and hope among the faithful and yet are a perennial target for skeptics, both secular and Christian. To research the authenticity of numerous Christian relics, Joe Nickell takes a scientific approach to a field of study all too often tainted by premature conclusions. In this volume, Nickell investigates such renowned relics as the Shroud of Turin, the multiple heads of John the Baptist, and the supposedly incorruptible corpses of saints, first examining the available evidence and documented history of each item. From accounts of true believers to the testimony of the relics’ alleged fabricators, Nickell then presents all sides of each story, allowing the evidence to speak for itself. For each relic, Nickell evaluates both the corroborating and contradictory bodies of evidence and explores whether the relic and attributed miracles can be reconstructed. In addition to his own experiments, Nickell presents findings from the world’s top scientists and historians regarding these controversial objects of reverence and ire, explaining the circumstances under which each case was examined. Radiocarbon dating and tests to determine the validity of substances such as blood or patina indicate a variety of possible origins. Nickell even reveals some of the techniques used to create archaeological forgeries and explains how investigators have exposed them.
