This book examines the “who, what, when, where, and how” of elite-white-male dominance in U.S. and global society. In spite of their domination in the United States and globally that we document herein, elite white men have seldom been called out and analyzed as such. They have received little to no explicit attention with regard to systemic racism issues, as well as associated classism and sexism issues. Almost all public and scholarly discussions of U.S. racism fail to explicitly foreground elite white men or to focus specifically on how their interlocking racial, class, and gender statuses affect their globally powerful decisionmaking. Some of the power positions of these elite white men might seem obvious, but they are rarely analyzed for their extraordinary significance. While the principal focus of this book is on neglected research and policy questions about the elite-white-male role and dominance in the system of racial oppression in the United States and globally, because of their positioning at the top of several societal hierarchies the authors periodically address their role and dominance in other oppressive (e.g., class, gender) hierarchies.

The Fourth Gospel has mostly been observed as a Spiritual Commentary that has little factual history within its pages. Dr. Gagne seeks to observe this gospel as an authentic account of Jesus as seen through the eyes of an early disciple that was driven from Jerusalem shortly after the death of Stephen in Acts 8:1. This 'beloved disciple' uses only a few incidents from the life of Christ, teachings that may be grouped together and the passion narrative as a testimony of their claim as His followers. The role of the temple incident, and Christ's crucifixion become the center of their claim, and can be seen in Peter's message at Pentecost, the message of Stephen, Phillip, and eventually Paul's convictions of the law and centrality of the meaning of the gospel as depicted in I Corinthians 15. The separation of the Johannine Community from both the Temple Adherents and James Jewish-Christians are the decisive issues in what is now seen by scholars as the separation from the synagogue. Gagne's observations are that the high Christological view of Paul and the Beloved Disciple link them with the Johannine Community, and an early expression of faith prior to the 70's and destruction of the Jewish Temple. A daring probe into the message of the Second Isaiah's Suffering Servant and the Fourth Gospel and Christ being 'lifted up'.

For many years I have had an interest in the equality of women and men, particularly in the church, where it has been woefully lacking for the most part. More recently Fundamentalist theologians have become increasingly blatant in asserting that the Bible teaches subordination of women to men both inside and outside the church. I have argued that this idea results from an irresponsible proof-texting from the Bible. I am convinced that, when taken as a whole, looking at all passages referring to women, the Bible supports the complete equality of women with men. I have undertaken to demonstrate this fact by looking carefully at the stories of women in the Bible, both named and unnamed, who were not submissive to men and who refused to settle for the role which their society attempted to assign them. I have taken these passages from the Bible and interpreted them within the context into which they are placed, to the degree that this can be determined. My goal was to find every story in the Bible in which a woman stepped out of her societal role and did something only men were supposed to do. I leave to the reader to decide whether or not I have succeeded.

While not everyone is called to dedicate their careers to ministry, everyone is called to engage in the Lord’s work on some level and many times to multiple tasks in life. This book examines the wide range of those callings and focuses on the “special call” to ministry. This book answers many of the questions students have about the “special call” to ministry and is written to guide young people as they choose their career fields—especially in ministry. In working in higher education for over four decades, the author has observed many students struggle to determine which major they should take in college and decide whether they are called to the ministry. The second part of the book is dedicated to finding God’s will for our lives. Upon graduation, many ministry students seek to know which ministry opportunity they should take. However, there are other times when our calling comes directly from our Creator. God calls us and we know with conviction that He has called us. There are other times when our calling flows out of the situation we find ourselves in—and sometimes this is not of our own choosing. At other times our callings are connected to the choices that we make. For example, when we choose to get married, we take on the calling of serving our spouse. In all of life, God masterfully uses our circumstances to call us to His work.

He grew up in the Roman Catholic faith, but abandoned his faith in his 20's. Joe is a passionate, fundamental Christian, who believes the Bible literally and historically and whose mission is to teach and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. God broke down the many strongholds that were in his life, such as believing in evolution and believing in the Roman Catholic faith. After time in prison for marijuana, he came to understand that Jesus wasn't just some superhero, but a real Man who lived, performed miracles, fulfilled prophecies, and perform the greatest miracle ever: the resurrection from the dead. Although he has no diplomas from any college, he is a self-made ready student of the Bible. He has spent many years studying the Bible on his own, and has put himself under the most sound teachers in the faith, such as RC Sproul, D. James Kennedy, Ravi Zacharias, Hank Hanegraaff, David Jeremiah, Tony Evans, and Kent Hovind, to name a few. Of course he credits the greatest teacher, the Holy Spirit, for teaching him the sound fundamentals of the faith.
