It had been just fireside talk from the beginning, born in the frustrated minds of snow-bound Nebraska landowners as they warmed around the pot-bellied stove in the general store. But, as sometimes happens to frustrated talk, the words took legs. All that was left to do was a lot of work, a long summer ahead and maybe a harder winter, but no one was ready to back out. Like a snowball on a hill, there comes a time that the weight of it is too great to stop. FROM GUNSHOT TO HOMESTEAD is book one of an eight book series, DEEP FORK RIVER, OKLAHOMA TERRITORY. This series took place in a unique period of history when new land was deeded on the basis of a gunshot and a footrace. The central nugget of land in the Oklahoma Territory was advertised for settlement, quarter sections were marked out and on the 22 of April, l889 the local Cavalry and other officials started the race at the shot of a gun. On foot... on horses in wagons and in buggies, they struggled for a place to put down roots. Each of these books brings a different family, person, or in one incident, a whole town to settle in the new land. The small town fictional town of Prosper was settled by these immigrants and others. The created beings called angels, as outlined in the King James Version of the Holy Bible, have amazing abilities. Not being bound to time or space, they are well qualified for the missions assigned them. The angels, such as Angel 942, with their specific history and talents, often combine actions to rescue the Boss young humans. A tragedy that splits a family apart was not Plan A, but there had been the minus angels to contend with. No matter. The Boss angels knew what would happen and that it could be incorporated into successful Plan B. Young Leticia Morgan went one way and her brothers another, but that was not the end of the story within this historical fiction account. There was the event with horses, a locomotive and the unsafe trestle, and well, a lot happens before and after this incident, but its all in the book. There are numerous accounts of humans being moved in a direction that was not necessarily in their plans. Some are in the Holy Bible, and others go un-noticed, but some happen like the one in this book all with angelic help and direction that is not necessarily recognized.

During the populating of the new continent, many of the immigrants settled on the first land available, being the eastern coast facing the Atlantic Ocean, hence an immediate overcrowding occurred. This book of historical fiction follows the lives of a number of young girls who, for various reasons, find themselves without family. Angel 734 had been given the mission to transport certain young throw-away girls from the coast, where they are not appreciated, to another place where well, its all in this book. In addition to the angel, the use of the Santa Fe Rail Lines and various other facilities were involved. Angel 734 was inventive, surely, and intent on fulfilling the Boss agenda. It was all well, it is too lengthy to explain here, but its all in the book.

Two sisters found themselves in the middle of the worst problem imaginable. The family had left their land with the greatest of hopes, only to have them dashed in a months time. The Boss, however, still had plans for his humans, including a little eight year old girl. Angel 734, was there, and so was Angel 777, with a history of music. Angel 229, with inventive talents was also needed, and it was written that Angels were placed in charge of humans, and well, its all in the book.

From the beginning of time there have many parallels within the activities of humans and this book of historical fiction follows the lives of two ladies with missions of their own, and the angelic help that was provided them. Young Garnette Tanner began her mission before she was a year old, and that was not even her name. Moses, in the Bible, had nothing on Nettie who had a history with a bois darc (or hedge apple) tree and well, it would take too long to explain what happened but its all in this book. Angel 734, along with others, does her part. It seemed to be in the Boss agenda that each of his humans have their own duties which may be a lifetime of service or possibly one brave action. Each of these ladies was born in an interesting period of history, with no experience to qualify her for uh, well, it is all fully explained in this book.

It seemed that Wildwood Village Summer Camp had just about everything about feathers. It was possible to look up, around and down. Feathers everywhere. Looking up would be the way to see a bird with tail feathers longer than his body, a bird with bad manners, and also one hardly bigger than a pinkie finger. Looking around, it is possible to see them swimming, or scratching in the ground for something too small to see. There were feathers in every direction, especially when Shang, the rooster, decided to fight with Screamer, the peacock, and it was unlikely that either of them knew what the fight was about!
