This book will introduce the history and practices of mathematics education in Korea. How it has been influenced from Japan, America, and other countries, and has developed into the unique Korean style of mathematics education. The editors have planned to include most of the topics researchers outside Korea want to know mathematics education in Korea.
The Korean stock market, ranked 11th in the world in terms of market capitalization of stocks in 2017, is a globalized market. Foreign investors hold close to one-third of stocks listed on the Korea Exchange (KRX) as of May 2017 (in terms of market capitalization). The US and the UK alone account for almost 50% of foreign ownership in the KRX.Research or information on the Korean stock market, however, is not well known to the domestic or the global investment communities. There are minimal investment studies that deal with practical issues from the perspective of investment analysts. This volume bridges the academic and investment communities by providing analyses of the Korean stock market that contain practical values. This book comprehensively analyzes anomalies in the Korean stock market, including time series anomalies such as the January effect, cross-sectional anomalies such as the size effect and book-to-market effect, and anomalies related to corporate events. The authors also investigate sales revenue, profitability, valuation (M/B ratio), and the financial risk of listed companies in the Korean stock market at both the sectoral level and industrial level. As the study uses a comprehensive data set and long-term sample period, readers can benefit from consistent and comparable empirical results.
Noh-A watches in fear as Omu strikes down Maru, the last offspring of the Unicorn. With the last obstacle removed and Jack fighting elsewhere in the forest, Omu seizes the Antler of the Unicorn. In an effort to snatch Noh-A's immortality for himself, Omu plunges the Antler deep into her chest. But as the sharp horn pierces her heart, Noh-A is greeted not by death, but by life. Her real life - the life she had before she found herself in Amityville. Though she has longed to uncover the mystery of her forgotten past, nothing could have prepared Noh-A for what she sees...
Siegfried of the South District makes his move against the North, and his weapon of choice is...Jin? But despite the fact that this latest threat to her power bears the countenance of her associate, Helmina does not hesitate to unleash her terrible strength against Jin. With Siegfried successfully removed from the good doctor's mind, Helmina plots her next strategy...Will even Jack Frost be able to counter the devils she is prepared to release?
When Ethan of the East District reunites Noh-A with her long-dead father, only to threaten to kill him again if she does not cooperate with the East District, Noh-A reluctantly agrees to go with Ethan. But securing the mirror image for himself is only half the battle. Ethan soon finds himself under siege from the other districts of Amityville as they attempt to steal her away again. As battle rages around her, a gnawing doubt grows in the pit of Noh-A's stomach... Is Jack truly the ally she's believed him to be? Or was he responsible for the loss of everything and everyone she once held dear?
Massive Connectivity Learn to support more devices and sensors in Internet of Things applications through NOMA and machine-type communication Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has held much interest due to its ability to provide a higher spectral efficiency—such as more bits per unit bandwidth in Hertz—than other, orthogonal multiple access schemes. The majority of this research focuses on the application of NOMA to downlink channels (from base station to users) in cellular systems as its use for uplink (users to base station) is somewhat circumscribed. However, NOMA has recently been employed in contention-based uplink access, which has shown an improvement in performance that allows an increase in the number of users that can be supported. As a result, NOMA is promising for machine-type communication (MTC) in 5G systems and beyond, making it a key enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT). Massive Connectivity provides an in-depth, comprehensive view of the benefits and drawbacks of uplink NOMA random access (RA) systems. This text offers a basic introduction and description of uplink NOMA RA systems before considering the possibilities for evolution of the scheme as attempts are made to derive the most benefits and overcome any weaknesses. The book further presents key performance analysis while also highlighting game-theoretic views. In essence, by describing the essential properties of stable and high-throughput yielding RA systems, the book demonstrates that uplink NOMA can fulfill these required properties. Massive Connectivity readers will also find: An extensive literature survey on RA systems and their applications since the 1970s Recent advances in random access for massive connectivity Retransmission control algorithms for NOMA random access Discussion of how uplink NOMA random access systems can be integrated into the existing long-term evolution (LTE) or upcoming 5G cellular networks Massive Connectivity is a useful reference for field engineers and academics, as well as experts for random access systems for IoT applications.
With signal combining and detection methods now representing a key application of signal processing in communication systems, this book provides a range of key techniques for receiver design when multiple received signals are available. Various optimal and suboptimal signal combining and detection techniques are explained in the context of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, including successive interference cancellation (SIC) based detection and lattice reduction (LR) aided detection. The techniques are then analyzed using performance analysis tools. The fundamentals of statistical signal processing are also covered, with two chapters dedicated to important background material. With a carefully balanced blend of theoretical elements and applications, this book is ideal for both graduate students and practising engineers in wireless communications.
Over the last fifteen years a variety of problems in combinatorics have been solved in terms of random matrix theory. More precisely, the situation is as follows: the problems at hand are probabilistic in nature and, in an appropriate scaling limit, it turns out that certain key quantities associated with these problems behave statistically like the eigenvalues of a (large) random matrix. Said differently, random matrix theory provides a “stochastic special function theory” for a broad and growing class of problems in combinatorics. The goal of this book is to analyze in detail two key examples of this phenomenon, viz., Ulam's problem for increasing subsequences of random permutations and domino tilings of the Aztec diamond. Other examples are also described along the way, but in less detail. Techniques from many different areas in mathematics are needed to analyze these problems. These areas include combinatorics, probability theory, functional analysis, complex analysis, and the theory of integrable systems. The book is self-contained, and along the way we develop enough of the theory we need from each area that a general reader with, say, two or three years experience in graduate school can learn the subject directly from the text.
In the arena of parasitic-aware design of CMOS RF circuits, efforts are aimed at the realization of true single-chip radios with few, if any, off-chip components. The parasitic-aware RF circuit synthesis techniques described in this book effectively address critical problems in this field.
With his friends in danger, Hansen puts memories of the past behind him and squares off against his brother. Though long-dead, Der Freischütz is still a gunman to be reckoned with, but Hansen has a secret weapon in store that could turn the tables on the deadly sharpshooter. As Hansen delivers his final blow, Jack decides he's had enough of sitting on the sidelines and does what Jack Frost does best. But victory is short-lived as the head of the East District moves his final pawns into place! What does the mastermind behind this attack have in store?
